I don't know if there is a problem with GR at the moment, but on returning to another long-running thread I post on, I noticed that everything I posted yesterday is now showing twice

The marvels of modern technology!

Hi Tec,

Perhaps you could send it to Berona in a pm

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 31 Jul 2009 23:10

That happened to me on here earlier - and I definitly didn't hit the button twice - gremlins in the system

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 31 Jul 2009 23:14

Good idea - wish I had your brain
If Berona doesn't re-appear I will do that later.

Went to the beach this evening - sea very rough. They've cancelled the Irish ferry because of rough seas out there - so there will be a lot of angry Irishmen waiting in Dublin tonight

Hi Allan
No ...lol
I only did rowing in Roath Park in Cardiff and my sister and I went round in circles,
I think I would be better doing the water skiing .!!
Tec
I don't think I fancy the pea green boat not too fussed on cats and never had much to do with owls:)

Tecwyn Report 31 Jul 2009 23:18

Evening $andie...........

You've got no sense of adventure.........
Why do girls row in circles? - my daughter did that once on the lake in Colwyn Bay park

Hi SS

Nothing to do with owls...and here you are posting at this time of night

lol

how is you, anyway?

Tec, in the late 70's I went to the Isle of Man for an interview. On the day we wrerdue to fly home a violent storm blew up. Douglas Airport and seaport were closed. BA paid for us to stay at a hotel on the seafront and we could see the ferry from Liverpool whenever th rain stopped.

It was bobbing about like a cork. When it finally berthed you would have thought aliens had landed...I've never seen so many green people before

Allan

Allan Report 31 Jul 2009 23:23

Tec,

I think they row in circles to get their bearings....and every body knows that ballbearings are round

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 31 Jul 2009 23:28

Ha Ha ......I love it........re ball bearings.........

When I was at sea I was used to seeing green people all the time -
and I wasn't drunk

Hi Tec,

It couldn't have been pleasant for them....but I hate to admit that we had a quiet laugh on our way to the airport!

Allan,
What exciting events take place where you live on a Saturday....

Here it's much the same as any day - the tide comes in - the tide goes out

the sheep go up the mountain - the sheep come down the mountain lol

Pretty much the same here, Tec

Bunbury and surrounds is a bit dull, and it is only in recent history that we got Saturday afternoon shopping. They now have Sunday shopping as well, but most small shops remain closed. A weird feeling when walking round the Shopping Centres

I worked for a neighbouring Council, Dardanup, which has 24 hr shopping. At the time this was introduced we were trying to entice a large Supermarket into the area. Local shops didn't mind because we only had about 15 at the time

Hello Tec,
No, I wouldn't ask you to do that again! My post asking you to pronounce it somehow got mixed up with a lot of other posts - and came in much later that intended.

Your idea of buying a boat between us is great. Must remember that when my numbers come up (that's when I remember to buy the ticket).

SueM - Is he only offering me a partnership in a boat? Darn! I thought it was some kind of a proposal!

Allan

Allan Report 1 Aug 2009 00:07

My OH and myself would sometimes go to Perth, or, preferably, Fremantle for a couple of nights to relieve the boredom

Some nice areas around here though.

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 1 Aug 2009 00:14

Berona.....
I've sent you a PM re your query.........
If I was proposing I would turn up with something better than a pea green boat lol............

Allen.........At least you have shops........our nearest major supermarket is over 40 miles away - the nearest shop we have is very poor for choice, and expensive.....we'll never get a big shop because not enough folk live here to support it.

But.........that's why we are here.....the quiet life....I love it

Reading back over the posts on cemeteries was ironic. My gr/gr/grandfather had a creek named after him too - in Ulladulla (now THAT's a place which wasn't named after a British town!). His home is now a restaurant and still bears his name.

SueM - you might know it if you have been down that way. I had never been there until recent years and have now been twice. I, too, had a strange feeling of 'belonging'. The original church where they were buried, has been demolished and in the corner of the property is a section with plaques commemorating the pioneers of the district. My gr/gr/grandparents and some cousins had been buried there.

It's a strange feeling, being where my gr/grandparents grew up and also my grandparents - who I knew and who told me tales of the family and the area as it was when they were young.

Allan Report 1 Aug 2009 00:20

Yep, I know what you mean, Tec.

We'd hate to live in Perth. Most people around us agree that the best view of Perth is the one in the rear view mirror as you head home.

When I gave up full time employment people would ask' "Are you moving to Perth?"

They couldn't understand why they got funny looks

We have lived here for 26 years, have brought up our two children who have also now settled in the area..why move to Perth!

Berona.......

Your ancestry sounds fascinating...........I could talk to you for hours about that.......early Australia, and its people are so interesting to me.

But for now I must go to bed............

So G'Day to you all down there, and Goodnight to everyone up here.

Goodnight

Regards
Tec.
