We aren't watching Eurovision, though I think we should do better than in previous years if only because of the Lloyd Webber connection. It would be personally awful for The Lord if we did really badly.

I have a house full of 12 & 13 year olds so Singing isn't quite their thing. They are playing on the Wii at the moment, but bed soon if they all want to do well in the run tomorrow.

No, Mo, I am not running. The fun run is for Under 17's, so I am just there to take the photos and hold the coats. It is run in conjunction with a half marathon on at the same time-more to keep families all involved in the same thing. Money raised goes toward the Jersey Sports Accociation for the Disabled, and some of their members take part in the 3k fun run in their wheelchairs, and others help out at the water stations along the course. It is actually a great event to get involved with.

We saw Madagascar 2 at the cinema, and really enjoyed it. Can't go too far wrong for £1.00 can you? There are always 3 films at £1.00 on a Saturday morning, all suitable for children. Takes me back to when I was able to go to the "flicks" for the same when I was younger.

Anyway, off to chase these children into bed, with 3 extra boys here tonight it is a bit like Testosterone on Speed in my Sitting Room at the moment.

Will let you all know how we get on tomorrow.

Well we came fifth,in the contest. Thank the lord we did'nt win . How would we as a country have been able to afford to run it,next year. It's bad enough us,trying to make the money go round,to accomodate the olympics in2012
I do not really think Norway should have won though,it was an o.k song,but my preference was for Iceland. Jade did a stirling job,for our country,but I thought it was a very boring song,and so repetative. And we as a nation chose it. I have to admit,I did not vote,but then what difference would my one vote have made.
And then of course,the cost of sending Jade and sir Andrew Lloyd Webber
out there.
Sorry folks I will get down of my soap box now,it's just that it grieves me the
money wasted.

MO, thanks for asking. The night before last I didnt get much sleep so was in a bad mood all day. Last night I had trouble getting to sleep (should have taken half a sleeping pill) and as I was tossing and turning at midnight my OH asked if I wanted a cuppa. I ignored him and soon after fell asleep. I woke at 3am and noticed a chink of light from the other end of the house. I thought he might have been making a cuppa for me. Not that I wanted one. When it hadnt arrived by 3.15 I went out and found him sitting in the lounge on the settee with a blanket wrapped around him. I gave him half a sleeping pill, took the other half myself and ordered him back to bed. He brought me a cuppa at 6.30 and I said its not daylight yet (I had put a note on the bench 'not before daylight'). He kept offering me one every quarter hour after that. At 7 I told him I wanted to sleep for another hour. He didnt bring me another so I got another hours sleep, still not enough but I dont want to leave him playing around on his own, dont know what he will do. Last night when I went to take my lipitor tablet just after dinner the bottle wasnt in the place I always keep it. I finally found it with his titralac tabs. I suspect he might have taken a couple of mine thinking they were his. I have now gathered up all tabs and am going to keep them in a safe place and only dish them out to him when he needs them. Worse than having a small child in the house.

Its been an awful day today winds howling and rain pouring.
So had to sit in today .....and do some research.

MO, I quite agree with you on the song we had it was very repetitive and I didn't like it that much. A lovely singer...

I get the little box as that is what it is. fixed onto the screw in three months time , as it has to heal really hard around the screw.
Its called a BAHA hearing aid and it works on the bone behind the ear
conductive hearing through the bone
Look it up on Google its very interesting.
So in the meantime I will wear my normal hearing aid.

I am a fan of Martin Shaw, think he's a couple of years older than me. First watched him in The Professionals - he always gives the impression that he's so laid back'

Good morning friends, what awful weather we are having at the moment, cant do with the cold.!! I havent been on line much , bit poorlie, keep having a sickly feeling most of the time, but I still keep waking up each day.lol

J loves the George Gently plays too, I am more of D.I.Y.S.O.S. and Houses under the Hammer. what a sad person I am, but dont you just love Nick Knowles, But my favs are series such as Larkrise to Candleford and that sort of era....

Huia, My heart goes out to you, it must be so difficult for you, how do you get any sleep?are there anyone near you that could help so you could get some rest, were I live there are peeps who have sufferers for a couple of hours each day, my friend does it he takes a man out and the mans wife sleeps whilst they are out.....Could your oh have a full sleeping tablet sometime, all these suggestions sound a bit feeble ,but we do worry about you, and feel helpless.... we willl continue to send prayers and thoughts for you .....

Hi, Mo, wish we did have some sunshine , we managed a little walk on Friday, but had to come home as it poured down.... the plants look very well though... we feel to be walking on eggshells at the moment, waiting for Js appointment....cant be long now.... he just wants to get it over and done with...

I was thinking of the folk who added to the original thread, and wondered how they all are , can you remember any names, I know Berona comes on sometimes, but my mind isnt what it used to be, so if you can think of anyone else it would be nice to think of them,

Jean, my OH is not like that every night, thank goodness. I do manage to catch up on my sleep sometimes. I usually have a snooze on the settee for an hour after lunch, which helps. We are out in the country so it is not easy to get help, but there is a local man, a member of our volunteer fire fighting group who takes him for a 1 - 2 hr walk once a week. Man and his wife take their dog every other day of the week but when the wife is shopping it gives him company and helps me enormously. I am extremely grateful to him for thinking of it. Also, on Sundays my OH usually goes hiking with a couple of women. I have to drive him up to their place (1 hr drive) and I then have several hours to window shop in peace, and I usually lie down on the bench seat of our utility vehicle and have a snooze. I will be asking OH's sister to come and stay for a few days so I can get away for a break. That is the condition of respite care here in NZ, that I go away while somebody stays, otherwise they dont get paid, not that sis-in-law wants the money.

Must be off to bed now, OH went an hour ago so I need to go in the hopes of dropping off straight away. (It is now 10pm)

You mentioned hearing glasses, well I've had those and they wernt very successful as the hearing mechanism on the arm of the glasses make the glasses heavy on the bridge of your nose,if you see what I mean ???

Hi everyone. Sorry to read of various ailments on here since I last wrote. No matter what we do to try and help ourselves with our health there is always something around the corner isn't there?

Anyway, a gorgeous day here today, the sun is shining and the wind has finally dropped. I can get a load of washing dry and I certainly always have plenty to do.

OH survived the weekend in France, spent all the money he took and didn't get much sleep, but he had fun - and he had NO RAIN AT ALL!!!

My weekend went well, considering I had loads of extra children - do any of you have these special houses with elasticated walls like mine? They really are fantastic; everytime the door bell rings and someone else "just pops in", there is always room for them. I love a busy noisy house.

The boys did really well in their running. 13year old was 2nd in his age group out of 10, the 12year old was 5th in his age group out of 21 and my 7 year old was 18th in his age group of 23. So they all did very well. There were 108 under 17's taking part.

The wheelchair entrants were amazing to watch. They need so much upper body strength and some of them were only 9 & 10. I find it hard to walk up a hill sometimes and they were propelling their special chairs with such ease. Quite put me to shame, when I moan sometimes about a hard walk that we may be doing.

Anyway, off to unload the washing machine again and onto the next task.

It seems that we all have our crosses to bear,and we carry them with dignity. I am so proud to know you all.
Huia, I do wish we were nearer to you,I feel we would all like to be of some help to you both. But we are here ,to help in any way we can,by listening if you are feeling down,and a shoulder if you ever need it.
I can understand how tiring it must be for you,even though you say it's not always like it. But like so many people,you have to be alert all the time,i.e
the tablet situation. It is such a huge job that carers do,without much recognition,or help. And I have great admiration for everyone,who cares
for loved ones like you do. And I know we do it for love of our partners.
The children did very well Debbie,please congratulate them for me.
The three months will soon go Marilyn,and you will feel like a new woman
with your new BAHA's in place.

I have some news , J has got to go for the pre op on Thurs with a view to have the op next Wednesday, our thoughts now are all over the place, he expected it in 4 weeks time, but its a good thing its so soon whatever the reason is, we wont have a lot of time to dwell on it, so now we can hopefully look forward to the summer.....

Mo, I am eating o.k. thanks, in fact I am doing Slimming World with D, and so far have lost 5 lb, I have just been told by my D that ther is a bug doing the rounds, but I think it may be that the doc has changed my tabs....

Off to cook the tea, roast beef , roasts , lots of veg, jacket spud, I am having a tuna and prawn salad no spuds I am good girl I am....

That is good news Jean,once the op is over,you can start to live your lives again. Obviously after J convalescence.
You are good,being on your diet. All that lovely food,and you are on a diet.

My brother-in-law has Alzheimers, he was diagnosed with it when he was fifty eight, and I know how more difficult things are becoming for my sister-in-law.

Hi everyone, how are you all today?

Jean I am so pleased that the hospital appointment has come though earlier than you thought, so good luck to you both. I will be thinking of you on Thursday.

Just been watching the half hour programme on the Chelsea Flower Show. Wow, what spectacular sights some of the displays achieve. One entered by the Island of Jersey has won a gold. It was a fruit & veg display, so presumably inside one of the marquees. It involved the whole Island with all sorts of groups of people helping out, from schools, retirement homes, farmers, growers and the prison to name a few. So a real community effort. The photos on the web site look amazing.

Had to take my 7 year old to the doctor today. He suffers from migraines, which is awful and he had a very bad one last night. Nothing that can be done at the moment other than the usual Calpol/Nurofen. The doc is reluctant to prescribe anything more as they aren't coming regularly enough and the medication has possible side effects which could show themselves in a young child. He doesn't get them too often, so we must be grateful for that.

The rest of us are fine and dandy. One of the boys has football trials tonight to test for next season. As he is moving up an age group he has to do trials to earn a place in the squad. There are so many children who play football here that the teams are often over subscribed.

I hope you got on o.k at the doctors Debbie,and that the doctor sorts your sons problems out for him. There is nothing worse than a migraine,it's bad enough for adults,but with a child it's awful,as there is nothing much you can do. Apart from what you have been doing.
How are you now Marilyn. I was perching on your thread yesterday,about Shimms. I am awful at perching and not adding,but I try not to get to involved in the arguments,that occur on the chat site. And there are far to many just lately,so I feel safer with our friends on here.

You all probably know John's thread on TTF - he's been searching for his sister that was adopted in 1947/8. Well last night she posted a message
to John - she now lives in New Zealand and her name is Janet. It really is wonderful news! There's been a lot of excitement tonight as you can all imagine. We all hope now, that John will meet his sister before he loses his sight completely.

What a shame we have to even doubt people these days. I was reading another thread where people were recalling awful things that had happened as a result of them posting information on this site. It really is quite scary that there are some people around who like nothing better than to disrupt other peoples lives.

Life here is well. Just spent 2 hours walking with a good friend. We try to go every Wednesday. The countryside at this time of the year is simply spectacular, and we walked the lanes, only meeting tractors and riders on their horses.

Gotta go, loads of paperwork to catch up on. Happy Wednesday to everyone.
