Hi Everyone
Reece it is nice to see you back with us again.
We have had a bit of a fall for the MIL,she is 92 and taking her little dog for a walk......... the dogs leed tripped her up and she ended up on the road ,she is a bit battered and bruised but will be ok.
I checked on her again to today, more bruises are coming out everyday,on top of that her doc has told her that her eyes are not good enough to drive anymore so she is back at the optometrist tomorrow to see if he can help her out with stronger glasses. Personally I don't think she should drive anymore but I can't say that to her of course.
Sylvia very glad for you that it is warming up over there, talking to my Uncle on the uk last night he has a terrible cold ,says it is wet windy and miserable.
Anniversary today of my Aunty Pats passing so a sad day for me today, loved her very much . It does not seem it was 12 mths ago I was in the uk for the funeral the time has gone so fast.
Very hot today and worse to come as the week goes on ,40c for Thursdayand Friday so guess where I will be.
Funny but I am doing Roast leg of Lamb tonight only chanse as the rest of the week will be out of the question to turn on the oven.
Back to the Kitchen .
Love to you all .

Afternoon all
Sorry to hear you are sad Sue - but I know what you mean - yesterday would have been my mums 90th birthday - so that was bit sad too.
Slyvia - i think that sums up the Census queries very precise
I do agree that the "Leaf" on Ancestry can be a mixed blessing - I always check mine very carefully - the amount of time i have had the wrong things.
I too have a private tree as hate it when people copy your tree and add it to theirs.
I think one of the funniest things i had was when I matched my Grandfather to another tree - its always interesting to see if its part of the family.
A little background info - he had two children & I am the only grandchild - he only had the one marriage and that was for around 30 years - he didn't play around as I would have heard & he died quite young. He lived in & around Brighton.
I contacted the person on Ancestry - who indeed had my Gradfather on her tree - but married to someone different & with 2 wives and a large family - same DOB & parents & sisters. Well i was in shock - she told me i was the one who had the wrong info - as she had copied a tree off ancestry & that had to be correct. No she had not checked any records or purchased any certs - And it went back 3 more generations on this line, more than she had on the rest of the tree.
So i did a little digging - i found her grandfather - he did have the same name as mine & lived in Brighton - but born two years earlier - different parents - 7 brothers & sisters and yes he did marry twice. he also moved around the country a bit more and lived to quite an old age.
So armed with various BMD references - and screen prints - i sent her a message - with all the proof - she threw an absolute fit - said I had all the wrong info & that he belonged to my tree not hers as she had everything right as her tree went back 5 generations on that side of the family using that info & she wasn't going to delete it now as it made a mess of her tree and meant she only had 4 generations instead of 7.
So I decided to upset her even more by telling her if she had the right tree it actually went back 8 more generations plus more on the wider branches. She demanded I send her my tree info so she could add it to hers. - i didn't actually reply to that one.
Inbetween times - my cousin had also found her & the tree - he also told her (possibly a bit more forcefully than i did) that she had the wrong family - In the end with both of us at her - she removed my grandfather & family.
That was after my cousin put her in touch with another family member from her branch of the family - who managed to get her to remove the wrong person & gave her a copy of the right tree.
I give up sometimes - all people want is to have large amounts of people on the tree for nothng - they don't want to do the actual work.
Well thats quite enough of me & the soapbox
Anyone see Call the Midwife Sunday night - I thought it was really good - different to the first week - but still good.
Well better go back to work
Take care all ;-) ;-) ;-) <3 <3 <3

Hi Everyone
Anne I too have had a run in with someone on here for the same reason.
I actually sent this person certs to prove she was wrong but still today she has not changed her tree. She has over 20,000 people in her tree and I would say a quarter of it would be wrong
Another person in Wales was the same ,I don't know why they would want wrong tree information anyway.
I was very careful to start my tree off correct and I have a very large family that still remembers the relies so I had a good start. The certs to start are the way to go ,now with Ancestry I have a good membership so I can get a lot of the London BDM's in cert form ...that help too.
Very hot today 40c looks like 41c for tomorrow and the same up until monday, then we just don't know. Looks like Salads for the rest of the week and over the weekend.
Dinners on so have to get off for a while ,going to do some of my tree tonight.

Hope your MIL is making good progress. A fall like she had would cause problems for most people a lot younger than her.
In your last post you said "The certs to start are the way to go ,now with Ancestry I have a good membership so I can get a lot of the London BDM's in cert form ...that help too."
Am I being thick as I do not know what you mean.
I had meant to add the cofused symbol but do not know how to add from Emoticons.

Arthur - On Ancestry (depending on the membership)- you can see the actual entries for Weddings - so you don't need to buy Certs from the record office.
They also have copies of the parish records for a lot of the London parishes - so you get to see the actual entries.
There are a lot of interesting things on Ancestry now.
Sue - i too have that access and find it a boon & saves so much money.
I hope your MIL is on the mend - My FIL had to give up driving 5 years ago now & he still isn't happy about it - but did see the sense - he was a danger on the roads & said the other day - there is no way he could drive now
My MIL said she still wanted to keep the car in the garage just to use for shopping - so we were all confused - she said well he can't do the driving anymore - but just a quick trip to the supermarket is different - so he can do that. Well we were all astonished
My OH (who is a driving Instructor) spent ages explaining the difference to her and why he can't just do the quick trip to the shops.
She still isn't happy about it & he just sits in his chair looking out over the estuary most days now. We sold the car very quickly & my OH took his licence & posted it off for him.
Well it was only a quick visit & ended up a bit of a chat.
Take care all <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

My goodness! Anyone would think this was a Genealogy site :-D :-D
Some very good points have been raised which is helpful to the rest of us.
Sometimes I think people are just into this hobby to see how many people they can fit into their tree.....as though there was a prize for the biggest tree!
Can't see the point myself :-S
I only have about 1,350 on mine and I am quite happy with that. Anymore would be further and further removed.
I was supposed to take my friend out today but I have a cold and didn't think it fair to inflict it on her. She was very disappointed but understood my reasoning.
Hope your MIL is still recovering Sue. Falls are nasty anytime but at that age they can be really dangerous.
I cleaned the inside of our car yesterday. Oh my word! I didn't realise just how dirty it was...... :-S I should be ashamed of myself....tuts.
I've also been playing around with the Kindle my OH got for Christmas! I'm quite enjoying it and found that I can even get google on it........
......trouble is, I take it to bed with me and keep on with it till quite late.
I need beauty sleep..........
Hope all the folk on here are keeping well. Love. Cx.

Hi Everyone
Cynthia....pardon my ignorance but what is a Kindle ?
Very hot here 41c today 42 tomorrow ,the OH is at work today but I don't know how long he will be gone ,I will give him a few hours and I bet he will be home again.
MIL is doing fine ,we are keeping an eye on her in this heat as well ..over here people can die from it usually the elderly that is .
I do have the Cricket to watch as I do my housework but I have decided there will def be NO ironing done this week until it cools down.
My tree has 809 people in it a the last look,I am hoping for it to grow but only with the correct people in it.
I had better get some housework done .

I could reply about the Kindle - but think Cynthia would be much better at it.
I have contemplated one - but honestly not sure if I prefer that or the paper variety - I know they are smaller & lighter to carry around - but not sure if i want to sit looking at a screen for that long.
Lovely sunny day today - we had hailstones yeaterday - massive great things - it was even on the local news
Well off for a potter around - visit to the outlaws tomorrow - another grilling and Spanish inquisition - never mind
Take care all

It's okay Anne, I wouldn't have minded if you had answered Sue's query. :-D
Sue, a Kindle in an electronic book. It measures about 6" x 4" , has a screen and is very light to handle. You can download books of your choice onto it from the Amazon website.
I have the cheaper version which means that, although I can take it anywhere and read from it, I have to be at home to download etc. The more expensive version means you can take it and use it anywhere.
Lots of people find them very useful to take on holiday etc....it saves them packing loads of holiday books. :-D
Hope that helps!
A beautiul day here today - chilly but bright.
Going to pick up daughter soon.
Take care and love to all. Cx. <3

Hi Everyone
Cynthia that sounds quite handy to have ,I may look into one of those. Can it be used as a mini laptop is that correct.
Cooled down here late yesterday afternoon thank the Lord it got to 42.4c but by 6pm it was 27c....we had a good nights sleep last night and we only have 30c today and tomorrow then it all warms up again for another lot of hot days. I dread to think what my electricity bill is going to be this time as we have had the Air Conditioner on a lot.
We are having a lazy day today ....OH is back to work tomorrow pore thing.
Check in tonight Love to everyone.

Hi Sue........not sure about the mini laptop thing because it will have its limitations and would be quite fiddly to do everyday things I think. The print is small but can be enlarged.
As you are getting hot days, our days are getting colder. Just hope it doesn't snow.........naughty word again!
I'm not doing my voluntary work tomorrow because the hospital has an infection and no visitors are allowed. I will stay away because I don't want to bring anything back to my OH.
It must be very frustrating for the patients who are feeling reasonably well and for the visitors who may have travelled a fair distance. Hope it clears up soon.
Had a late night last night so must get some beauty sleep.
Love to all.......Cx

Hi Everyone
Sylvia I am glad it is warming up for you .....we are sick of the heat already and Summer has not been with us very long.
Talking to my Uncle last night on Skype in the Uk and he was showing me Snow falling in his back yard. At least it made me feel cooler just looking at it .........37c for today and 33c for tomorrow with a small promise of a few showers on wed night but with those temps it only makes it very humid......still it would be nice for the gardens.
Having a day at home today with lots of windows to clean and yes that dreaded Ironing, trying to syke myself up to do it .
Going to get a whooping cough booster tomorrow as they say that the ones we had when we were kids may have worm off and with a new baby coming soon we don't want to take any chances.
Whooping cough is on the rise here with all the boat people arriving from Afghanistan and the Muslim countries we are seeing a return of a lot of the childhood diseases that were long considered gone for good.
Well I had better get on with the housework.
Talk again soon Suex <3

That was a quick visit :-S :-D
Just watching the news about the riot at the football match in Egypt......unbelievable! Makes you wonder if some of it was planned.... :-S
Very cold this week but at least we are nice and cosy in our little nest.
I don't mind ironing at all Sue.......but you're just a bit far away for me to help out.... :-D
Hope our menfolk are keeping well in this chilly weather..........I think Robert has had his little shell insulated so he should be okay.
I wonder if Evelyn is feeling up to joining us again soon?? It would be lovely if she could. There has still been some work going on behind the scenes re her mother - but it's brickwall after brickwall....... :-(
Going to make my way upstairs now.......Going to read Dick Francis on the Kindle... :-D :-D

Hi Everyone, Am finding getting here to this thread very frustrating, my computer starts faster [and it is slow] than loading the sign in page, then equally as long to get to my homepage I can go and make a cup of tea in the time it takes for the message board to load, I then I finnaly get here and takes for ever to try and get the pages to scroll, so unless I plan to come to this site, I can no longer just pop in :-|
Do not get me started on the new tree format this is the second time they have done this since I joined back in 2004. I know how it works as it very similar to my trees on the 'my Heritage' Site,
But it is a pain when it comes to updating, as I have been doing a lot of over the last couple of weeks. with so much extra scrolling around needed.
Well that was my grizzle for the day :-P
Anyway hope everyone is keeping well, would gladly swap your Lovely White Stuff Sally for my gale force winds Summer here not much Fun :-( Nice and warm 20-23cel and some Sunshine but mainly cloudy and windy with gusts up to 120 kilometres per hour. Does not make for good Beach days or outdoor activities.
I see you are asking about a Kindle Reader Susan. I checked out one at my local electronic Retailer and will definatly buying myself one when I eventually find a Job and the money tree flowers.
The biggest plus is the weight, I find holding a 500 page Paperback book very hard on my wrist. The kindle is very lightweight. You can also change the Font size to allow for much easier reading.
There is a range of different models and you can buy accessories such as carry cases for them. And a course a vast range of E books to use with them including ' Geneology Books'
you can buy your Kindle and books online from Amazon through my website [ excuse the little add here]
Will trek back to see you all soon Josie

Hi Everyone
I am so sorry I have been missing for a few days but we have had some much needed cool weather and we have even had rain.
A cyclone ran out of puff and came down the West Coast bringing rain that was great for the gardens ,they have been so dry with all the heat we have had over the last two weeks.
Josie I agree with you I think the Genes site takes longer to load that any other site I go into ....very frustrating. I did not have time to judge the new tree as it was not there long enough it appears to be gone for the while ,I do wish they would stop fixing things that are not broken.
My Uncle in Glouster had some Snow the other night so is it all over the uK or just the lower South West.
Sally where are you in the UK ?
Cynthia I did get my ironing done ....finally.
I will also look into this Kindle thingy.
Anne I hope you and your family are all well
Robert good to see you back here again and well I hope.
I am offnow to get some dinner on. Suex <3
