Just found out that my great grandfather, Arthur, appears not to have left a will. The search concentrated on 4 years after his death.
He was estranged from his first son, Arthur, who had married young, and as the saying goes 'beneath him', but his son had predeceased him. Dying intestate would, therefore, mean his money went to his other son and daughter anyway; however, I do find it strange. He was a wealthy man and my father once said "My grandfather, Arthur, left all his money to Maud, who never again worked." If he died intestate, then money would have come to my father's father and surely would have had a positive effect to be remembered by my father - he was 12 at the time.
Having now seen a copy of his wife's will, I was surprised to see she had left £400 to her son, Arthur, £100 to Arthur's wife Maud, and £500 to her daughter Maud and son Harry. She died in 1914, five years before her son Arthur died.
Families are really interesting and you do not know what you will find once you start your research.
Do not like the cold weather, but at least we have not had snow that settles and makes driving difficult. Hopefully Christmas will also be snow free as I am driving 2 hours to Swindon for Christmas Day with my brother, his wife and their two daughters and their families - 5 children ranging from 11 down to 2. it should be fun.
My best wishes to everyone for a peaceful Happy Christmas and a Happy, Stressless New Year.

Hi Everyone
I was sooooo tired yesterday I went to bed at 8.30pm.
I went to work with the oh for a while just to give him a hand too finish a job. I used to help him a lot when I was younger but have not done it for quite a few years now and boy did I feel it when I got home But a nice hot bath did the trick only it made me more tired so I thought off to bed for an early night will not hurt you.
I did a bit more Chrissy shopping again today ,only my youngest Granddaughter left to buy for now and I am meeting up with her tomorrow in town so she can just lead me around and pick out what she would like this year.
We have heard that the Uk has had some of that s...... word is that correct,I have not had any calls from my Sister in Yorkshire to tell me as she usualy does.
It is very cool here in Oz at the moment so I just hope it stays that way for Christmas day ,I would like to do a roast this year for a change.
Cynthia the job is not to dirty ,I only really clean up after him and get him buckets of clean water to clean down the tiles after he has grouted them. I like doing it realy but just have not done it for a long time and I am a lot older now.
Off to watch the nightly news ,plenty of Sharks around at the moment needless to say I am staying out of the water. Told the Grandies to do the same.
Love to everyone Suex <3 <3 <3

Sylvia nice to see you on another of my threads.
I reached the same conclusion, but needed support.
Not my direct line, but very interesting characters and I have added a couple more queries that I hope can be resolved.
Thanks for looking
Arthur

Hi Everyone
I don't know about you all but I am just about ready for the festive season, only have one present to get and that should be all sorted by tonight I hope.
Any of that white stuff yet Cynthia ? no word from my sister so all must be well in Yorkshire.
Next year the OH and I are talking about spending Christmas in England as my OH is an Aussie he has no idea what Christmas is like there, so I want him to at least experience one Christmas in the UK. Our family does not mind but it will feel strange to not see our family on Christmas day.
Warming up here but they are forcasting 28c for Christmas day ,that is not to bad for OZ in Summer and I can still do my roast dinner.
I would like to wish you all avery Merry Christmas,I shall still be on line up until Christmas day then who knows I could be anywhere. I do know I shall be sitting infront of my TV for Boxing day for the Cricket ,Australia are playing India.
Stay warm everyone and I shall try to stay cool.

That dreadful word.........s**w...... :-(
Yes, we had some of it last week Sue. Fortunately, it was short-lived and it seems there is no sign of any more at the moment. Thank heaven's for that!
Apparently, bookmakers are taking bets on the fact that it may be the warmest Christmas for a while ????
More or less finished with preparations now. Also have my daughter's and daughter-in-law's birthday before the end of the year...... :-S
It was very busy in town today so I was relieved I wasn't in a panic for anything - even stopped for a frappacino and a sit down :-D
I can understand how tired you must have been Sue........all those jobs we used to do without thinking - they now seem like hard work. The joys of getting older I guess :-(
I'll probably be around on Christmas Day too.......... :-D
Take care all......Cx

Hello Daniel, you're very welcome to join this thread but it is really the first post on here which is the helpful one and the rest is just chatter to help keep it at the top of the board.
If you have a specific query, it would be better if you either start a thread or add to a thread you may already have either on the find Ancestors board or on Genealogy chat. :-D
I wish all my friends a very Happy Christmas and a healthy and peaceful New Year.
