Aha! this notice confirms that John and Beatrice May had a daughter Shirley:

Belfast Telegraph 20 October 1941

DOAK- Cherished memories of my dear wife, and loving mother, who departed this life on 20th October 1940. Lovingly remembered by her Husband, Sons, and daughter (wee Shirley), also mother-in-law and family 6 Euston Parade.
--------------------------

So it seems that John moved in with his mother at 6 Euston Parade, around 1940 after his wife's death. I suspect that John and Beatrice were the parents of Walter, and Shirley

John Doak born 15 September 1927 had two sons David John and Colin Doak. He had four siblings Samuel, Cecil, Walter and Shirley. Samuel Doak lived at 20 Burren way and had two children John and Susan. Cecil had three sons, John, Mervyn and Alan. Walter had Linda and James. Shirley married Brian Sainsbury and had Christopher and a daughter. The father of these was John Doak b1900 and he lived at 6 Euston Parade, Belfast. He died in the Royal Victoria Hospital. The father of this John was Samuel Doak. Samuel b10 Dec 1875 was a plumber and he resided at 10 London road, 20 London Road, 92 My lady’s road and finally I have him at 55 Lomond Ave in 1918, all Belfast addresses. Samuel b1875 father was John Doak. He is listed as a Butler in Fivemiletown on his sons’ baptism certificate. John Doak married Eliza Graham on 12 March 1875 at the Parish Church Errigal Trough co Tyrone. One more generation back, the father on the marriage certificate is shown as Samuel Doak, farmer from Drumnadarragh, Errigal Trough, Co Tyrone. Research Continues.
