There’s no birth for him on freebmd or ancestry

The marriage cert should name his father,if known

Very much a guess, but basing it on the theory that James was born Belfast, and that his father was named James also ( which obviously he might not have been!) there are a couple of young James' of a likely age on the 1911 Irish census, Belfast/Antrim


There are 2 marriage for a James Doak. 1 between 1920-1922, and 1 between 1922-1926.

As said just a possibility.

If it was a catholic marriage his mothers name will also be on it.



This birth but would have meant adding abt 8 years on his age based on death details.

If so what were their names or known by.?

Shame I didn't see this yesterday, I was in Barrow and could have popped in to the library which has all the parish records including St Mary's Walney where they married in 1955.

I confirms there is no birth for Doak of any christian name 1928-1930 so I've no idea where Malyon found that birth.

You can only access N.Ireland records within the time limits by going to GRONI in Belfast, they won't show up on line unless there is a christening record.

Has the birth date (which is same as OP) been picked up from the death reg. posted by Malyon and ?? therefore presumed birth same RD?? Or just that the Death reg. confirms the birthdate in the OP, so the death must be him !

Walter had two brothers-John & Cecil.John was married to Olive & they lived in the Liverpool area.They had sons-Colin & David.Walter also had a sister-Shirley.

There's no Colin or David Doak born Lancashire? No marriage of John Doak to Olive in Lancs?

Found David & Colins marriages-1986 & 1996.Can't find a marriage of John to Olive(maybe they married in Ireland) ?
Can't find any info anywhere on either Cecil or Shirley.Apparently Cecil married & had 3 sons.

Cecil had a son called Alan.

Where did they all live though

Cecil lived in Belfast.John (& Olive)had a post office in Liverpool.Now been told that the family lived in Euston Parade,Belfast.
