I. would like to find the Parents of Mary Hayward nee Brown born Scotland c1871= c1895 to Andrew Newlands Clark Hayward who was born c1871 in Scotland possibly at Inveresk,as this is where his parents died. Midlothian has also been mentioned.

Andrew and Mary came to Australia some time after 1911.

In the1901 census their Address is 35 Buccleuch Pl. Edinburgh Scot,.with them were their children Lillian 5yrs.Andrew 4 yrs. Andrews sister Isabella and Janets sisters Jessie 14 yrs.and Jemima 12 yrs.
Walter and Janet and their children arrived in Mackay Qld Australia on 26/09/1911on the ship" Wypara.".

Will be working on yours later.I had a quick look and saw the 1901 you mentioned with Mary(nee Brown) and her husband and the children etc.Couple of questions.

1)Have you the marriage record for Mary and Andrew?reason i ask is looking back at earlier census records there are a few Mary Browns from the area Mary is listed as being born on the 1901.

2)Do you know what year Janet married Walter?

I am guessing you do not have the marriage record or else you wouldn't be asking for the parents?

Any extra info would really help here as Brown not an easy surname to find-there are quite a few!

Hi Michelle,
I am trying to find info on Alexander Wood.
I've got him in 1891& 1901 census,coal miner living in Murton Co Durham, both of which state born in 1863/64 Spennymoor, Co Durham.
I have his death in 1914 in Murton
I can't find his birth anywhere - the only Alexander Wood I can find is 1864 in Morpeth, which is nowhere near Spennymoor!
I can't find him in 1871 or 1881 census either
I have his marriage certificate (to Mary Jane Dixon) in 1888 which give his father as John Wood, coal miner, deceased.
Any help greatly appreciated

Have you thought about looking at the marriage record on this site?

Free to register but you do have to pay to view but as you have the year names etc of the couple you won't need to search through loads.Also Scottish marriage records hold both parents names normally and more info than the English
