Can i ask why you haven't got the birth cert of 1 of the children to see mother's maiden name?

There are 2 or 3 marriage showing on the marriage records with spose missing...i am wondering if 1 of these is your John's wife.
I am also wondering whether the eldest son James was Eleanors son?He was listed as born 1849 on the census...the census records aren't also spot on with ages so its possible it could be out.If it is correct John is listed as single living at home in 1851.
I have been working on yours and i am still working at present on it.So check back later to see whether i have had any luck.

I seem to be stuck on finding info on Samuel Lines/Lynes I have estimated birth as 1847 Birth place Bristol/Gloucester area.
I have his wedding cert 1872 to a Mary Ann Clark on this his father is listed also as Samuel Lines. I also have the list of his children.

I cannot seem to trace his birth or connect him to his father or know who is mother is or if infact he had any siblings

any help appreciated

Hi Michelle,
because I hadn't been able to identify the right children in the right place at the right time! I have had another look and have now found births on FreeBMD of Mary Ann 1852 and John 1853 in Brighton, so I could send for one of those. But no trace of any of the others - wonder if the census listed their birth places wrongly. IGI has James Peter Penfold christened Ardingly 28 July 1850, parents John Penfold and Eleanor. Hmmm. Looks like James born out of wedlock.
This was a family I filled in on my tree quite early on and committed the cardinal sin of not noting where/who I got the info from! Hmmm again! Thanks for looking - much appreciated.

Wondered if you would be able to help me with a new census search, for the 1881, 1891 and 1901 census. For Samuel Stone born 1876 Stanley common, Derbyshire.

I know at some point he moved to heanor and he married a Harriet Gillot and then a Elizabeth canlin (nee spencer).

Samuel and his first wife had 4 children names Elsie, Charles E, Harry and Eva but i am struggling to find their births my grandmother belives they where born between 1901 and 1909 @ heanor but says the births would be registered at Basford.

I really hope that you can help me.

Stange how he is listed as a Baker here?Did at first glance think it wasnt him but children's names include middle names which match other census records of the family....wonder if maybe he put money into a bakery shop for the whole family to work in?Address matches road of the 1881 census and 1901 census.
