I have just finished reading Joanne Trollope's 'The Other Family', surprisingly good read although I don't often enjoy this author.

I've just started on The Journey by Josephine Cox

Has anyone read any of the Daisy Dalrimple books by Carola Dunn and are they any good

Yes Agatha they are good books, Daisy is a good character and it is period set thoroughly recommend.


just finished The Return by Victoria Hislop, about a family during the Spanish Civil war...I had really no idea how bloody it all was. Its an excellent read.

Agatha if you also like Sherlock Holmes you will enjoy the books of Laurie King, which are also about Sherlock, he gets married, a bit far fetched maybe but it works, recommend

I'll try the sherlock books, they sound like my sort of thing.

I'm in the middle of reading
The Soldier's Woman by Alexandra Connor.
It's quite good and part of it is based around the First World War.

I am now reading
The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time by Mark Haddon
and I am Enjoying it, although it is a little different.
I bought it because I enjoyed A Spot of Bother by Mark Haddon.

I'm now reading The Stopping Place by Helen Slavin. It's based in a library and the titles of the chapters are written in Japanese and English. Very strange!

Just finished Adele Parks Young Wives Tales...quite good told from the different sides of a marriage break up and their friends. Good light read

Just started to read The Glory and the Shame by Harry Bowling.

Have read alot of books by him so hope this one is good as the others.

Patricia, have only just found your post on War and Peace.
Did you enjoy it, was it hard work, was it worth it.
It's been sitting on my shelf with Anna Karenina, just daring me to read it, for about 6 years. Should I give it a go? I've got a 2 week holiday comind up which might be a good time to staart.

Yes I quite enjoyed War and Peace.
I found the description of the battles quite hard but I stuck with it and I'm not a high brow reader!

I'm three quarters through Jodi Picoult ...House Rules.About an Autistic Boy who has been charged with Murder.It is a brilliant read .

I am reading Piccoults 'songs of the humpback whale' at t'he moment. It was a bit hard to get into at first.
I've just bought Land of the painted Caves by Jean Auel as it was halfprice at Wat----- and I have all the others. Still have about £40 worth of their tokens.
I have about 20 books with over 800 pages, to get through,so I shouldn't be playing on these pages, should I?
Will say cheerio until War and Peace is finished.

Patricia, set in our beautiful Peak District, I have read some of Stephen Booths books, and quite enjoyed them. This one, is set in and around Matlock Bath. On our local radio, they were giving out reports that it was already bottlenecked with traffic this morning. Always is at holiday times.

I went on a coach tour round Derby 15 years ago. The thing I remember most of all is having a Bakewell Tart from Bakewell.
I'm reading Club Dead by Charlaine Harris. I quite like Vampire books ever since reading the Twilight books.

I've finished reading my Vampire book.
I'm now reading "The Ghost" by Robert Harris.
This was a book lent to me by one of the Bosses at work.

The Ghost was very good with a twist in the tail at the end.
I'm about to start reading "Juliet" by Anne Fortier.

I enjoyed reading Juliet.It was based in Siena.
I'm now reading Sister by Rosamund Lupton.It's an appropiate book as I got it with the voucher my sister gave me.
