Already got Thursday in the park on my kindle although not read yet but have just bought one that looks ok for 20p called ex Pats A detective type story I think, and another one that is free called Love Lies and High Heels. Also bought one for 89p which is The Love of my Life by Louise Douglas.

I have just finished a really good book by Louise Candlish called The day you saved my life. As reviewed for greaders:

Holly has been suffering from Post Natal depression badly. She and her Mum take Holly’s toddler to Paris for a break. A tragic accident and a dramatic rescue changes Holly’s life.
Beautifully written, quite tense, all the time waiting for something to happen. A really hard to put down book, as the story unfolds you want to know what happens next. Four quite strong characters and the story is told through the eyes of each. Even the character of baby Mickey is well written and believable.

Hi Ann I have read "Love of My Life" I actually quite enjoyed it , was an easy read and I have to be honest I not a fan of some of the authors books.......

Emma! Emma! I finished Bring Up The Bleddy Bodies at last, ...farewell to the lovely Thomas for now, can't wait for the next one.

From beheading and treachery to a familiar warm mug of cocoa. In other words, Maeve Binchy's last novel, A Week in Winter (warning this is far too pricey at the moment but was making a train journey and so I indulged myself). It doesn't disappoint and am enjoying it so far.

by Gillian Bagwell..£2.99, its about Nell Gwyn, has
got a very good write up and its her first novel.
A bawdy, spicy lively romp, just my cup of tea :-D :-D

I am keeping my beady eye on the book lists at the moment, as I will be looking to buy myself a few Christmas reads.

I like crime, detectives, that sort of thing, preferably American. They have a higher class of crime, doncha know. LOLOL.

The book lists have the latest by John Grisham, as being out, and I already have the latest Kathy Riechs (sp), not started yet.

Will look for some others.

I like to vary the types of book I read each time. Just finished Jamrach's Menagerie by Carol Birch, a tale of victorian whaling ships with a bit of cannibalism for good measure.
Now, I'm reading a fluffy Christmas novel -With Love at Christmas by Carol Matthews, to get me in the festive mood.
I'm waiting for the new Kate Moss and Joanne Harris novels to come out in paperback.
Must read the Hilary Mantle books, after hearing so many good reports

Started 'The Darling Strumpet' last night and so far
so good. Thought I might get confused with the 17th
century London words but not so as your not being
overwhelmed with it and the context is easy to work out
the meaning. ;-)

Thought i'd pop in to give an update incase anyone
might find this their cup of tea.

This book is holding my interest and an easy read,
It starts with the early life of Nell Gwynn as a child
prostitute, orange seller in the Theatre in Bridges
Street ( the great Plague of London shut down this
theatre)
Nell then became an actress and was quite a hit with
all who came to see her. When the plague came she and
her mother left London and was part of the King's company
giving shows for him and his entourage.
The theatre in Bridges Street was rebuilt and renamed
Theatre Royal, Drury Lane.

Onwards to next chapter :-)

I'm currently reading A. D. 62: Pompeii By Rebecca East...got it from Amazon on download for about £2 when i first got my Kindle and suddenly had the urge to read it.

Not far into it yet.....but am enjoying it....Miranda .the main character is a time traveller which i know won't be everyone's taste..but I quite like the idea of all that lol...won't give it away but it's a fascinating insight into the world of the Romans through modern eyes..and specifically Pompeii as we ultimately know how that story ends......

'A Spot of Bother' by Mark Haddon....... So funny and a lovely read :-)

Daughters of the Grail by Elizabeth Chadwick

A great book, an excellent read. Basically the story is about the persecution of the Cathars by the Roman Catholics in France in the 13th century. The RCs being led by Simon de Montfort.
The background to the story is based on fact (i.e. the persecution of the Cathars) and then the story is woven around that. As usual totally believable and a lot of facts that I didn’t know. I didn’t really know about the Cathar religion and what they believed and didn’t believe.
There is also a thread running through the story about the female lineage of Mary Magdalene and their inheritance of her mystical gifts. The Catholic church are sworn to destroy Bridget who enjoys these powers and who uses her healing talents and supernatural abilities. This too is believable and is based on the alledged destruction of books of the Bible written by Mary.
If you like historical novels, and there is romance in there too, you would enjoy this one.
