There must be loads of things we used to have, but for no reason we can't get them anymore, for instance refillable mascara, used to be able to get it in a tube and bung it in the mascara tube. Now I seem to spend about £7.00 on a mascara, only to throw the whole thing away when empty, there being nothing wrong with the brush. Lynda

Mascara in a little case. It was a little block of mascara that came with a little brush, you had to spit on the mascara then rub the brush on it. We all had eyes like Dusty Springfield (or even Dusty Bin!!)

Maureen - my eldest sister had that 'spit in' mascara - yuk! I remember collecting cards with PG Tips tea - do they still do those? Linda - yes you can still get 4711 in Boots - my Gran's favourite!

What about the hair laquer that came in a plastic squeezy bottle it used to make your hair as hard as the hobs of hell. After all the back combing and the laquer, brushing your hair next morning( more often than not with a hang over) didn't half make your eyes water. MAUREEN

Hair Laquer reminds me of when I was about 18, "set" a neighbour's hair on rollers (remember the sort of cottage loaf style that was popular in the 1960's for middle-aged mums?) When I finished, she was so pleased that out came the plastic laquer bottle and she squirted it all over her head - unfortunately, she was standing in front of the open fire when she did it - talk about fire-eating, never been so frightened in all my life. She later emigrated to Australia with her family, and even now when I see the Bush Fires in Australia I tend to think it's Margaret caused that, spraying her hair! and no Linda, as a child of the 60's my hair was in a long straight bob, like Cilla's not a cottage loaf - lol Jacqui
