I'm not a Geordie but my dad was born in Heaton (no trace of an accent though), my maternal grandparents were born in Whitley Bay & Monkseaton, as was my great uncle who lived in Jesmond Dene for years (Millfield House, now a cafe and business centre)

Hi Kim, Yer annly count if yer say Mammy not Mummy! Yer Mammy might be from Tow Law but your Mummy couldn't possibly be! I have grown friends here in the south who still call their mothers 'Mummy'--and these friends are in their twenties! I am so tempted to tell them 'How Man! Grah up!' (Hey my darling, why don't you try being a little more mature?') Sal
