NOOOOOO !!!!!!! Haven't finished Crimson Petal yet - let alone even STARTED Cloud Atlas!!! Will have to miss out on the review this month - there's no way I will finish both of those - especially as I have to read the Kathy Reichs in between as my boss is waiting for it lol. I suppose I will be put in the naughty corner again now - boo hoo!!!! Maz. XX |

Hi Maz Mike is having problems sending us messages as the system has been so unreliable these last few days. I am sure he wouldn't want you to have to go back in the naughty corner again!!!!! Ann The paperback is heavy enough, dread to know what the hardback must be like Dee x |

REVIEW OF FOOTBALL BOOK I RECOMMEND IT IS SO FUNNY Without doubt the best football book I've ever read is 'Kicked Into Touch' by Fred Eyre. It's an autobiography which tells the story of a young lad whose dreams of stardom with his beloved Manchester City were wrecked by injury, and released to the lower reaches of the league. A brilliantly funny insight into the life of a lower league journeyman, who was equally unsuccessful in the world of football management. His ability to get to the top in the business world far exceeded his skills on the pitch, when he built up a multi-million pounds stationery empire. Even though it was written in 1981, it is just as funny today, and is testimony to the spirit of a man who refused to be put off by newspaper reports saying things such as: 'The manager has switched Eyre from right-half to left-half to make room for the return of Murray. 'It makes no difference to the two-footed Eyre, who can play equally badly on either side.' Some truly great anecdotes, including the time he once 'employed' a certain Dennis Law as a part time delivery boy when he was stuck for help in supplying desks to an office to fulfill an order for his newly formed company. I'd certainly recommend it as a great read. Davex |

Maz, that is a pity, I wondered what would happen if anyone had read them the other way round. Our fault for choosing two large books. (Well not MY fault, I didn't choose either)!!! I would actually suggest, if we do review cloud atlas this month that you should concentrate on the other books for next month. Just my opinion but cloud Atlas was not my favourite - don't know about the others. Dee Mike shouldn't be having problems now with the message board. Ann glos |

Maz Heard from the Boss and he says no further punishment is necessary!!!!!! By the way Mike also says that we don't need to read both books each month, we only need read one The things is Mike, if people are anything like me they have trouble choosing which one to read, and end up wanting to read both Counting the days till you come back, not long now is it? halfway through Crimson Petal, very enjoyable, although i find it heavy to move around. Much better read than Cloud Atlas. It will be a while before I read harry Maz as I am number six on the waiting list for daughter's copy, which she bought in Tescos last friday (the first day of issue for £7.99 with the adult cover). They are all quick readers except one of the Grandsons so it won't be too long. Ann Glos |
