Just a thought folks Mike is due back at the end of this month (I am already counting the days) Do you all think it would be a good idea to wait to review this months books till he can post the thread himself? (Gives us all that little bit longer to read the books as well!!!) Dee xx

Can't put it down though!!! Ann Hope all is well with you, I saw on one of the other threads that you were intending to be away for a few days and hope your son in law continues to make progress. Expect you will be glad of the extra time to read the books as well. Take care everyone Dee xx

Hi, As you will have seen i am back at home, son in law making good progress so far but early days yet. at least he is at home and daughter is able to work from home for a week. Having read Cloud Atlas (who suggested that one?) I am stillw aiting for the crimson Petal to come from the library. good job we have a few days extension then. family tree is ordered and by my reckoning should be here by now but isn't!! Dee how long did yours take to come from amzon? Yours was second hand toow asn't it? Meanwhile I had a week in Hampshire with plenty of time to read and no book club books to read!! Read a book called Dancing Hill, about life on a farm in dorset, but partly a Shirley valentine theme as well. can't for the life of me remember the author (ess) as I left the book in Hampshire for Lynda to read. very good book though for 'holiday' reading. Jacqui, i am not even going to ask!!!! Ann Glos

Maz (the Royal One) in the East End 9256 Report 11 Jul 2005 12:41

Ok .... I confess .... take off the thumbscrews please ... IT WAS ME !!!! I suggested Cloud Atlas. SORRY SORRY SORRY SORRY !!!! I was only going by the jacket and the review on Amazon!!! To compensate though, I did also suggest the Crimson Petal and of course I wasn't allowed to vote for Cloud Atlas - so it wasn't ME who actually chose it!!!! Maz. XX - who hasn't been brave enough to start it yet ;-))

Unknown Report 11 Jul 2005 13:23

Maz I shall no doubt be in touch with Mike in the next few days. I shall ask him what punishment he thinks you should undergo!!!! Reckon he ought to suspend you from recommending books for a month!!!!! LOL Dee ;-))))

Unknown Report 11 Jul 2005 13:29

I haven't even started Cloud Atlas yet is it that bad? Julie xxx

Unknown

Unknown Report 11 Jul 2005 13:38

Julie It could probably best be described as 'different'. I shall find it difficult to review. Good luck with it. Dee xx Don't forget folks that we have an extra few days before we review this month. We are waiting for Mike to post the review thread when he comes back from exile.

AnninGlos Report 11 Jul 2005 14:25

Family Tree arrived today. ordered last Wednesday so i suppose not too bad. And cheaper than the shop price of £12.99! (Do people pay that for hard back fiction? Maz - Go and stand in the corner!!! Julie, it is different/odd rather than 'bad'. Incidentally this month when we review I feel that we ought to actually discuss the books rather than just review them and add no more comment as we have been doing. depending on what you think Mike?? Unknown Report 11 Jul 2005 17:46

Hi Ann I think I can see where you are coming from. Perhaps when we do the next review we can try to get more of a debate going, exchange thoughts rather than just review in isolation. Perhaps you can let us know what you think Mike? You will all be pleased to know that Mike is back at work, but what a scorcher of a day to have to go back on Dee xx

Maz (the Royal One) in the East End 9256 Report 11 Jul 2005 18:19

Yes I think a discussion is a good idea. When I have done the reviews it feels like I am back at school doing an English Lit essay - which I hated!!! Lets hope the Boss agrees! Maz. XX PS Can I come out of the corner now please???!!

AnninGlos Report 11 Jul 2005 21:13

Just had a message from Mike. he agrees re the discussion of books and will sort it when he returns. he actually gave as an example the fact that Dee liked merry Christmas (I think that was the one) and he didn't, and said we should have discussed why. Ann Glos
