You can take the person out of the street, but you can't take the street out of the person |

I hate it on babies. I wasn't allowed till I was 16/17 now I don't bother wearing any. Oldest had hers done just before the summer holidays so was almost 13. Was her choice up to then she couldn't face the pain. Didn't lie to her told her it would hurt so she was prepared. She looked after them and they are fine now although she can't wear silver as they go manky. She was allowed to keep them in for PE till they settled and now she takes them out. Think there should be an age limit |

I agree with the vast majority here - I don't think children should have pierced ears until they're old enough to make that decision themself. |

Paul, i agree with you, i did THINK you were talking about yarmouth at first, the baby-mothers do treat the kids like s***e and then wonder when the kids get older why they turn round and slap them. Em C, That's how i feel about the youth, no respect or decency about them. Micheal. *shut micheal your sounding like an old fogey* |

I was born in the 50's and my ears were pierced before I was 6 months old. Thought I'd also add, I was born in Basildon Essex!!!! |

oh... changed my mind lol another reason why immigrants tend to hook up with young white teenage girls is because the immigrants are very often from a different more strict society, the women from these countries have been ingrained with a much more moralistic, disciplined and ethical belief and upbringing. Men on the other hand will be men and can interpret things to suit themselves without the same conequences... so its so easy for them to go off with a white girl do what they want, then a few years later.. settle down with a 'nice' gilr from the same religion/country. More fool the white girl eh! |

My mum thought it would look nice, and it did! im pleased i had them done, cannot remember any pain and i do have memories from that age, didnt have loads of jewellery or nothing like that just nice little gold studs, and when i was older enough i got them pierced twice!!xx |

Having seen a toddler very distressed in a casualty dept (my son was there with suspected broken toe) as she had an ear infection and they were taking out her earrings, I am even more confirmed that they shouldn't. Children at our primary school have to have their earrings taped over for PE but I don't think they should be wearing any jewellery. I certainly wasn't allowed to when I was at school. Didn't get my ears done until I was 25! I think it shouldn't be done until child is at least 12 and able to understand consent and look after earrings and after-care his/herself. nell |

I understand what you are saying Steedie... but... how do you know it looked nice.. you were a baby... and do you really think you looked any prettier with pierced ears? did they really enhance your facial features any? Definately not having a go at you.... Olivia's middle name is Stephanie :))) |

Just wondering how far you can legally go - someone here said Tatoos was not allowed, but could I for example have a small dinner plate put in my daughters bottom lip, or surround her neck with gold bands - a new one for each year? |

Just like to add, that I'm laughing at the image generated of Vicky pollard and Waynetta slob, not the genuine Essex guys and girls who have pierced ears. also at one point when I was 16-17, I had five earrings in one ear, and four in the other (I was into punk), and also in the eighties I wore a pair of white stilettos. But I was still a good girl..and so are others with pierced ears. Elaine x (Reporting from Harlow...ESSEX ) lol ! |
