Hi all I was in the chemist today and I saw an imation cigarette at £1.99 each I suppose it acts like a dummy, I think it must be like the patches and if you are in smokers company ity will help to resist an actual ciggie. James

Hi Carol yes it's odd the 25th seems to be coming sooooo slowly, but other things still seem at a headlong pace, still only 11 days to go, when should I start charging my batteries for the camera? James

HI James, well hubby stopped a few weeks before me, so you can double what my meter shows! We are spending the money on our house, and its great! How much is a pack of 20 over there these days? Here its about $10 and there is $2-60 to the pound

James

James Report 14 Mar 2006 21:24

Hi Melaine, the cost a packet of cigarettes is about $11.70 aprrox £4.60. Is it good you and your OH are not smoking, you do not realise how much you spend over a course of a month/year plus your health is improving, Dosn't it seem strange when you see an old film and they are smoking, I have been looking at the messages from day one and the theme is how bad it smells once your nose starts functioning again. At the rate you are going you will have a new wing to the house!!! James :<))

Debby Report 14 Mar 2006 21:32

Well I'm on week 11 now - have amazed myself! The £80 a month I'm saving by not smoking has bought the paint for the back bedroom, boxes for under the bed, a mirror, brushes & roller, a king size duvet and' I'm looking out for a curtain rail. Still a few bits to buy for the bedroom (shame I haven't got round to decorating it yet lol) and then starting to save towards a holiday that I so richly deserve! And then (are you bored yet) I'm going to pluck up courage and book some riding lessons as it's something I've wanted to do since I was 5! Big pat on the back for all the other ex smokers! Debby

Well done Deb, At the end of the year thats nearly £1000 when you take the extras like lighters and cleaning, and if you smoke in one part of the house a lot, look at the ceiling and see the nicotine on it, I used a wall paper steamer and the muck that came off was amazing otherwise when you paint the it, the nicotine shows through after a while. James :<))

Well done Carol, It does get easier as you go, but keep your guard up, I am also looking forward to going to the meet, though the time is rushing past, the 25th seems a long way off, Do you think I should get my hair cut for this great event? I am sure it was only the other week I had it done, but it feels long now, so what else are you going spend all this money on, a nice sun swept island holiday in the mediteranian, Blue skies and clear blue seas sandy beaches, the last place I went was Turkey, people were very friendly, the food was good and cheap, I think you said you did not like flying, I sure OH would not mind holding your hand or you could try China, expensive but what a lot you get for your money (£1000) 3 meals a day,a train journey and internal flights to and from the terracotta Army, coach trips to the Forbidden City , The Great Wall, Beijeng Zoo (pandas), Opera, Guided tour of The Summer palace and so much more. Something to think about and set your sights on. James :<))

Hi everyone I just put 'smoker' in the search box and read the threads including this one. What I noticed was nobody mentioned the staining of the fingers and nails from the tobacco or was I the only one who had this? James :<))

James

James Report 16 Mar 2006 20:25

Hi Carol remember what I said you have got keep your guard up for a little while yet you are now coming up to the danger period when it is so easy to slip back the nicotine wants its fix so do not give in James

11 weeks without any and feeling brilliant. Waiting for the weather to warm up a bit so I can get out in the garden and tidy it up. Hopefully will be able to do it all without huffing and puffing my way through it. Joy
