The ones I hate are Deer and Duck and thats what they say up here, Fair enough if I had fur and antlers or feathers and a beak. Don't mind others so much especially if I have known that person in cyberspace for a while

Up here M'duck used to be used frequently but has almost died out , I think it depends on who calls you sweetheart, luv, whatever! I didn't hink I minded any of these terms of endearment at all until the man who recently moved in next door called me 'my dear' in a really patronising way . He made me feel like a country bumpkin. As for 'babe', if anyone called me that I would think they had left their specs at home! Chris

Diana Would be offended if you didn't as I'd wonder what I'd done wrong....

Germaine

Germaine Report 28 Mar 2006 19:46

Doesn't bother me what you call me as long as it isn't nasty not too keen on Duck or Dear. Dear makes me feel like I am being told off don't know why and duck makes me feel old. We all call people Love round here or should I say Luv and I like Sweety for a little one. Germaine x

I have to admit I'm uncomfortable with terms like that and would never use them, but even so I don't take offence if anyone uses them to me (unless they are being deliberately patronising or sarcastic that is - and I know you are never that!). Angela

after reading some of the threads on here tonight, I would feel extremely priveledged to be called sweetie or darling. Never had a problem with friendly people, it's the miseries I detest.

I don't mind being called sweetie - sugar. Its MADAM I hate when out shopping - feel as tho' I have brothel written on me forehead. DAL

Mandy Report 28 Mar 2006 20:57

You can call me anything you want except for Dear, coz it's patronising, and Fat A***e coz it's too near the truth!!!!!!!!!! :-)))))))))))))))

Diana, No why would we be offended? I do it myself (less on the board than in person). I tend to use Babe, Hon, Cariad, Sweetie, Sugar and occationally Love!. Although all terms are terms on endearment, I use them to refer to my friends.
