Exactly Paul - the sentiment. Often I think these 'terms of endearment' are nothing but a habit people get into and there is no sentiment behind the words at all - at least not the right one! LOL Think how many ways you can say 'darling' - from friendly (and more) to downright sneering. Who's to tell which way it's meant?? When someone knows the person personally, I think that's different. Ok gorgeous?? |

Hi Diana, I have to admit to being a bit taken aback the first time you called me that, after all you didn't know me, but as others have said it is you, so no, I don't mind. One of my Sons in Law calls me' babe' & I am happy with that but not sure I would want anyone I didn't know well to call me it. A van boy from the laundry we deal with sometimes calls me 'maid', a Devon expression, & that tickles me. The thought of this young lad calling a 62yr old woman maid, well. lol Vivienne |
