Evening, Mum dished out the punishment in our family. If my brothers and I played up we were warned twice and if we persisted then she threatened us with the slipper. Never did get whacked with it so we got a bit braver. Mum of course changed tactics and deprived us of going out to play with friends, sent to bed early. That cured us! Did the same thing with my children and my daughter does the same with my grandchildren. They know the boundaries and that is what children need. No need to smack. Then again no use getting angry and going off half cocked. If you say something then think about it before you say it. If you then give in and let them watch tv for instance then they win.... you lose. Rod for your own back. Aileen xx

Worse thing you can do Mrs P. If they are naughty and you say if they do it again such and such will happen you have to carry it through. Otherwise they will walk all over you. My two year old granddaughter tries it on with me occasionally and I say that we are not going to do whatever we had planned for the day and it stops her right in her tracks. Boundaries. Say it, mean it and carry it through. It hurts you, and them but they soon learn. Aileen xxx
