Hey there ,sally you have not upset anyone so please relax.
I was in a tearing hurry last night to get away fishing for the evening ,spotted a couple of spelling mistakes ,tried to put them right ,and then pressed the wrong button, delete instead of submit.he he.
This is the first few minutes to myself today with so much to do ,and am now in the middle of making tea ,so ,i am off again, until later ,Fred.

badger Report 20 Apr 2011 18:26

Evening all of you regulars, and Sally ,i have had a lovely jacket for tea and now i am relaxing for the first time today after being mega busy.what with the garden, housework and looking out for a large patio pot for the new Nectarine tree when it arrives.
I tried b&Q but got a heck of a shock when i found out that a 17 dia pot was around £20,so i am going to The cheap shop in Dudley before i go to the daughters tomorrow ,i'm sure i got the last pot there last year which cost me £4-50,a hell of a difference.
This thread is ultra busy sometimes Sally ,and others very quiet ,sometimes me and Edith seem to keep it going for a couple of weeks ,and then the other shift take over ,Dorothy and Brenda,,it all depends on how busy we all are.
Brenda is a bit unwell at the moment ,what with a broken tooth ,a bad leg ,and the sniffles, and Dorothy with sniffles and struggling with the changable weather in Canada, freezing cold one minute ,and lots warmer the next.
,but nothing phases Edith ,she just gets on with it ,lol, come rain or come shine she is planning out the balcony's herb garden, making soup for the residents in her condo, heck ,she has more get up and go than me ,lol.
I downloaded those pic's Brenda ,and very good they were too,and they are now in my picture library.
I only have one border to do now ,and the edging along the grass next to where i park the car ,and i am up to date, but i am ruddy sore ,he he ,this getting old aint all it's cracked up to be.
Tomorrow ,it's a day to relax ,up to the daughters who needs to borrow one of my hedge trimmers ,but ,if she thinks i am going to trim the hedge for her ,she is out of luck ,he he ,just too sore and stiff to do any more for a few days.
Well ,that's it for now ,take care all,Fred.

Hi Fred sorry about before maybe over reacted a bit! Just thought, a new member not wanted at this time. You certainly have been busy, with one thing and another. Right thing to do about the pot is shop around pickup a bargin ha. Didnt realise thought thread was always busy. Everyone seems to be a happy bunch on here, Hope Brenda and Dorothy feel better soon, Edith sounds like another busy bee ha. I myself have been enjoying this lovely weather and hope to take my darling daughters out for the day at the weekend. Fingers crossed weather keeps nice for awhile longer, after the winter we have just had i will never complain about the heat again!!! Well thats me done for now, take care Sally x

Hi everyone, sorry i was not on earlier had a lot of odd jobs (paper work)to do and my leg was giving me a lot of bother.I am hoping to get another appointment at the doctors tomorrow or early next week,
The tooth by the way is ok at the moment ,have to go back in June when I have a checkup to see if the temp. "cap" is ok.or if he has to do something more permanent.
Sorry if we did not make you feel welcome Sally like Fred says it can be swings and round abouts sometimes we are all putting on messages and others, you feel like the Marie Celeste as theres nobody there.!!A few people only pop in now and again but its mainly Fred ,Dorothy and myself ..We are not all that good with the pc either and you will see we hit buttons thinking we have added a message then find its gone into cyber space. Have you been reseaching your family history long? We have all been doing it different lengths of time and have had differing amounts of success.
Fred hope you stayed true to yourself and only lent your daughter the strimmer and did not do it for her, mind you I know how you are doing things for the family, and I feel honoured to be in your album.Hope you get your poy at a reasonable price.
Hope Dorothy is feeling better and the weather is on the mend for her.
Hope it stays good over here as well and Sally can get out with her daughters,
See you tomorrow,take care Brenda
D.

it is 8pm canada time and brenda I seeyou posted about 2 hrs ago so you are up late back in crumpsall welcome to the site sally as you may have gathered I live in canada in barrie ontario but I lived as a young girl in walshaw outside of bury the place with the great market, I was able to meet brenda on one of my trips home, but due to some health problems I am not able to fly these days so no more trips home in the future. fred as usual you are a busy man good luck with lookin for a cheaper pot, I spoke to anne in bury to-day )wed) and she was busy hanging out the wash in the wonderful weather you had to-day, it was raining and snowing again all day big thunder storm last night I was told but I slept through it. still a little under the weather with this cold but on the mend, yes brenda andrew will be home sometime to-morrow(thurs) from ottawa I shall phone Ian in the morning before he goes to school to wish him happy birthday he will be 12, not sure what it happening this week-end re the family dinner I shall wait to be told. perhaps sally will give some more info on her family and what she does in liverpool well I am off to watch a bit of tv and then may have an early night, brenda keep well and rest the body parts that give you some pain bye for now dorothy

badger Report 21 Apr 2011 06:30

Morning all ,and welcome back to the fold Sally,we is a friendly lot on this thread ,and apart from a bit of leg pulling [pardon the pun Brenda] none of us would ever knowingly hurt one another,so rest assured,no offence on my part was taken.
Ahhhhh ,Dorothy ,the plot thickens ,lol,i had no idea you lived so close to the market ,no wonder you seemed to know the area as well as you do ,wow ,living over the pond now ,you must sometimes miss it when you are shopping for some things and can't find them .
def ' having the day off today ,he he ,i have to visit the daughters on pain of death [mine] the grandbairns are complaining that they havn't seen me in weeks, and i have overdone the gardening this last week ,i am still very sore ,and need to slow down.
That cold seems about right Dorothy ,i still have a tad left after four weeks ,so you are getting there now,Sally mentioned our severe winter ,and i think that makes colds hang on more ,what with the ,into spring for a couple of days ,then back to winter grrrrrr, you don't know where you are from one minute till the other, lol
Way to go Brenda ,the tooth fixed for now ,but an idea for you ,go to Boots and buy a filling kit to take with you just in case you loose the one the dentist put in,but keep the reciept so that you can take it back if you don't need it [hope you wont],we cant have you holding your jaw ,and saying [wait for me Mr Dillon] while you are on holiday can we ?
I.m afraid that with Arthritis you have to ignore it and carry on regardless,a case of having to i suppose ,my main moan is not being able to walk like i used to ,Fleetwood to Blackpool, and Newcastle to Frosterly in weardale grrrrrr, but at least my garden ,well i just do less at a time ,but more often.
Well,i am off to water the garden before i have my Cornflakes ,the heat haze out front promises a scorcher today ,so watch the bairns in the heat Sally ,time for sun cream ,and plenty of it if you are out in the open, see you all later ,Fred.

Dorothy

Dorothy Report 21 Apr 2011 14:05

good morning gosh fred hope you don't get a sunburn after you have had your cornflakes but enjoy the good weather I awoke to snow on the roof tops and the cars but they promised us some sun to-day so it should melt soon it was not a heavy fall of snow. yes I did live near the market mom used to take me on a saturday morning in those days you just got off the bus at kay gardens and walked across to the open market and then into the inside market I think that burned down at one point of course this june 13th I will have lived in canada for dare I say it 54 years I was 15 when my dad was transferred over here, but walshaw and bury I think are in my very bones and heart I still think about most days, also having close contact with the rellies and my friend anne (we met at school at age 11) over the years and so many trips home it keeps it all so fresh for me, I do love all that canada has given me over the years so I have had the best of all worlds I reckon, up early to-day to watch the tennis from spain and of course to phone my grandson to wish him happy birthday before he went to school Ian is 12 to-day. you are right fred if I could pop over to the market I would hit the cheese stall if only to smell the stuff I also have to watch how much I eat cheese wise but the lancashire cheese with garlic that somehow got in my suitcase the last trip over plus the stilton with apricots for a friend was great and they vacum pack it for you it was only when I was standing in customs and saw the signs that said that it was not an item that was allowed that I got a bit nervous I thought being vacum packe it would be no problem and I did get through ok of course they never asked if I had any. well back to the tennis enjoy all the sunshine and happy easter to you and liz and the family bye dorothy

badger Report 22 Apr 2011 16:41

Well ,what a lazy old git i have been today, after finishing the long border in the front garden this morning ,and watering in the greenhouse ,i have done nowt, zilch ,nada, and have even had a snooze on the settee for good measure, and now have the cheek to yawn ,lol.
I see that some low life set fire to the Welsh national park this week ,causing untold damage and putting wild life at risk, while the fires burn out of control, when they catch the Ba****d responsible ,they should throw who ever it is into the middle of the inferno, and fan the flames.
I am gettin' spoilt this weekend ,the mid day meal being made for me twice in two days ,and very nice it was too ,a Morrison's cheese slice ,fresh steamed new potato's ,carrot ,and Calabrese, with a couple of Asparagus spears ,cut fresh this morning, lovely, and for the second evening running ,home made soup for tea.
Tomorrow it will be my turn to get the dinner,Turkey, home made corned beef, sage and onion country stuffing, roast potato, sweet potato, red onion and parsnip all in the same roasting tin, with small new potato's ,caramallised red cabbage.broad bean ,and diced buttered swede, with garden peas.all covered in a rich gravy,so ,anyone coming had better get their skates on ,lol.
Sunday we are out to dinner at the youngest sons ,down Wallsend ,a laid back ,slow B B Q with everything from hot dogs, home made pork burgers with philly cheese inside,Angus beef burgers with red onion ,and sweet peppers mixed in ,and a nice steamed rainbow trout ,and steamed salmon for the fish fanatics, both rod caught by yours truly and put down in the freezer for a special occasion ,which is really the house warming party, delayed by a month.
The chicken legs and thighs are to be done in the oven first to ensure they are cooked properly ,my insistance i'm afraid ,no chances with tummy bugs ,especially the young ones,my grandbairns are a precious gift with which i take no chances ,lol.
Sorry to hear that you canucks are still innundated with the white stuff, but i'm sure your spring will soon arrive.Dorothy .
Hope all of you are getting down to enjoying your first proper holiday of the year, have a good weekend all,Fred.

Morning everyone ,wow ,what a change in the weather ,he he,i am glad we did go to the sons B B Q yesterday,a real belter ,and i got a couple of new recipes for the side dishes, namely a very nice Bombay, salad with chopped new potato's and red onion mixed with corriander .stem and leaves.well worth the five minutes it took to make.
The Rainbow trout ,he did with course ground pepper and sea salt, the inside laced with Rosemary sprigs ,chopped lemon grass ,and wild garlic leaves.the sides slit and filled with garlic butter.
We used Aldi's beefburgers this time far better than any other frozen burgers and !00% meat, really tasty.
The cumberland and lincoln sausages were nice too but i prefer the son's home made ones better.
I took down a jar of large hot dogs for the bairns ,as they prefer those to sausages, and thet did well each hot dog cut in half so that they fitted the buns[finger].
I was out in the garden by eight this morning ,needing the hedge trimmed back on the end so that the fencing fella's can get in to remove the old posts ,and put in the new ones, because they will be here tomorrow to get on with the job.
I had to keep my weather eye [pun] out too whilst getting the tattie barrels into place and then starting them both off ,because it looks like rain on the way,but it can please itself now ,jobs done ,i am indoors for the rest of the day.
You watch that leg Brenda,it ain't gonna' get any better with you prancing about on it like a dervish at a dancing party,,you need to take it easy ,and rest it ,i speaks from experience ,i does ,lol.
Hope everyone is having a nice time because it's back to the grindstone tomorrow apart from those over the pond who ,of course have the extra day off .
Catch you later all.Fred.
