Afternoon one and all ,what a gay day ,lol, this is the first time i have stopped since 7 this morning, what with decorating on the lower floor ,the kitchen nearly done ,and the hall to start ,then the bathroom ,toilet and summer bedroom upstairs to start too.no end to it is there ? I was hoping to get a bit of a hand from my eldest son ,but he is having ongoing problems with his car ,so i will just have to do it all on my own,it will just take longer is all. I put three new Fushia in the back garden this morning ,after the missus brought them at B & Q along with three large punnets of Lobelia ,Geranium, and Busy Lizzie. I was also treated to a new orbital sander ,a hint to start sanding doors i reckon ,but she has had it this weekend ,i need a rest, and i have a load of plants to put out after she brought them all. I have also found a couple of off unused corners in the veggie patch and have put in the rest of the red onion sets in there so we should be okay for salad stuff. Have to go peeps ,the missus is whinging again because i have stopped work, humph, i could do with a holiday just to get away from the females of the house ,he he. Catch you later ,Fred.

Hi everybody, What beautiful weather we are having albeit a nasty cold wind. I still have a jumper and winter coat on when I go out. Our new additions to the family are still doing very well, judging by the number of times mum and dad have gone backwards and forwards to feed them. I didn't see any movement yesterday so though something was wrong but today full of action in the nest. It now looks as though they have fixed a curtain up across the little hole where they go in and out. I don't know what it is and don't want to disturb them by looking too near. They fly so fast that they are difficult to see but I think they are blue tits. I went to the market again today but quite late for me. I went after my hairdresser had been at 12.00 noon. I am having physiotherapy on my right shoulder as I cannot lift my right arm to fill a kettle or cut up anything, even ironing is painful. Still trying to get used to wearing a mask to sleep at night. I found it on the floor again this morning so must take it off in the night and then go back to sleep again without waking up. Getting old with the problems attached to old age I suppose. Love syl xxx

Good morning all you people out there, where Fred has been up since 5 am. I have had my morning cuppa sitting out back by the back door cuppa on the small patio table while i surveyed the work i did yesterday in the half light. All the plants i put in look perky so i have high hopes of a load of colour before long. Time now to get cracking out front with the remaining plants in the chalet ,about 45 assorted flowers plants in all, once i have cleared a few weeds out ,and trimmed the lawn edges. I will hopefully start on the hedges this coming week once the promised rain has passed by,but i am doing well now and can concentrate more on the decorating while the weather is iffy. Hi Sylvia ,nice to read about your boarders if the weather is good over there in the next few weeks you may well find they decide to raise yet another brood this year ,extending your enjoyment a while longer,my new nesting boxes are still empty as yet ,but there is still time for a couple of families to move in. I did get a nice treat for a couple of minutes late yesterday afternoon when a couple of peacock butterflies landed on the kitchen window sill behind me,one larger one and one smaller one behind. The smaller one was raising and lowering it's head ,and flickering it's wings ,so ,i can't help thinking it was a male flirting with the bigger one i took to be a female. Of course ,i went and spoilt it by standing up very slowly with the intention of getting the camera ,but of course ,as i moved ,they flew off [b****r].i do it every time he he,one of these days i will remember to take the camera out with me,lol Off for a look around the boards for a few minutes before putting my shoes on before i go out front to get cracking, have a nice day all ,catch you later Fred.

Good morning all, a bit cloudy this morning but we have had three days of bright sunny weather although there has been some ground frost early in the mornings and yesterday there was a light NE wind which felt a little chilly. Looking forward to some warmer days ahead.
The sciatica is much less painful now, it comes and goes and I still find sitting can be uncomfortable - but so is walking and standing. Mustn't grumble there are folks a lot worse off.
Fred, I only use the one e mail addy now - have sent you that. You have been very busy in your garden,. Will have to get moving if we want to get anything in before it's too late - I do keep nagging my son to get on with the digging and clearing the ground but he does have to work as well . Hope the weather stays good for his days off so that he can get cracking on getting more of it ready. Our biggest problem, even after years of digging (which I used to do) is the amount of stones and rubble that keeps coming up.
Pleased you have found a holiday Brenda, hope you will enjoy Ibizia.
Take care - sorry have to get a painkiller, must be this chair.
Love Kathleen

Morning all, glad the weather is good at the moment for everyone,we got a plastic walk in "greenhouse "yesterday, which should help with the plants we have and the ones I will put into seed trays this week.Wish we could have a proper green/glass house but it would be in shade most of the day the the trees in next door and at the back!! The plastic thing is a bit of a gamble really, just hope we get something. Going to my sisters now with some photos she wanted to show friends, then will get the dinner on when I am back, might get in the garden while it is nice but if it goes cooler I will get some ironing done. Hope you get better soon Kathleen and you don't get bogged down with your jobs Fred. Brenda

Good morning everyone, from a wet Newcastle '[yippee] things going my way for once ,seeing as i have just put the feeder on the lawns and it needs water to start working. Not to worry ,plenty of painting to do,and i will start the two doors and skirting boards as soon as i come back from Cramlington, late this morning. It is now just over a week until our first week away this year ,and i have updated the sat nav ,and road angel ,ready for the off,so there is only the packing left to see to. I am going to be looking for5 new lights for the patio out back we are ready for a change in colour ,lol, the old ones will be put out front along the long edge of the lawn. Dorothy ,poor lass ,you take your time and get better quickly ,thinking of you and praying that it is nothing serious. Brenda ,you placca' greenhouse should not pose a problem, most plants can manage with partial sun and even tomatoes will grow well in those conditions ,the only thing being ,you may have to ripen them indoors.but you know ,you could put a couple of tom's in pots for salad use and place them anywhere in good sun,we do that and get loads of small plum tomatoes for salad use. The pots we had the kids plants in last year will be used for courgettes this year which will be handy for salads and stir fries ,saving us quite a few pennies. Of i go now to do a blood test ,got my bum kicked at the surgery yesterday because it was far too high, and got threatened with becoming type 1 if i didn't improve soooooo ,a look at my diet is afoot ,he he ,no more crisps or bickkies but i have found loads of different crackers.crispbreads ,and the old favourite oat cakes,so within reason ,i can still have the occasional treat. Catch you all later Fred.

Having trouble slleping again tonight so have been trying to sort out a few things on the pc. Nice to see Dorothy, hope your results are ok. Can understand your cats wanting to be near you,its comforting as well I think.. My sister has had to have some blood tests ,re anaemia and the doc also things she may have a bit of heart trouble due to various things like passing out etc.!! I have a few friends who are also having tests for various symptoms, and my other friends in Aus are both having tests for different things . Just seems like the docs surgery when I read my emails these days. Fred the veggis have started (just ) to sprout ,so we are of to a good start, our neighbours asked about the placi green house and then showed us an advert for ours from the same place #3.00 cheaper.!! Weather been a bit chilly today ,had to go to see about moving my bit of money so i will get some interest even if its only about 2% ,don't want to risk it in shares. John lost a packet a few years ago and will not touch themn.better see if I can get some sleep have a few errands again tomorrow .Take care Brenda

Morning all ,i have been out back for my cuppa and wander round my domain, where all looks good assisted by my sidekick who seems to escort me everywhere ,even sitting close to me while i am weeding and putting in new plants. I now have all six buckets of Asparagus through, loads of blooms on the apple tree ,and buds on the plum tree ,and what with the Strawberries and Rhubarb ,we will do okay for fruit this Autumn. The missus is chuffed because all the tomatoes are now through, and we have four cucumbers started. Everything else is growing too ,and it looks like i will have to start transplanting brassica as soon as we get back home in a little over two weeks. I got out front for an hour yesterday and now i only have the top of the border along the hedge to weed and the other long border down to the hedge ,and that's the borders finished. Looking at the ash cloud ,i am glad that i am only travelling in this country for my holidays at the moment,it must be terrible being told your holiday is ruined ,or you can't get home at the end of one. The son [younger], hates flying and prefers to go to europe by coach, which i may try,it being nicer i reckon to be able to see the country side as you pass through it ,rather than see patches as you fly over it. We have two bairns with us this weekend one from each of the sons families,so we are being kept busy doing meals and whatever ,but i like having them. Nice to hear that you are staying with us Dorothy, and i had a chuckle at the comments about the klingons ,lol, hissy doesn't go far from me most of the time and settles behind my knees at night,on the top of the duvet, waking me at six each morning and escorting me downstairs so that i can get her her grub. When we tell her that we are going shopping ,she shoots off upstairs as we shut the door, and jumps onto the windowsill ,where she will be ,i reckon ,until the car pulls back into the drive on our return, then she runs downstairs to greet us ,and have a nose inside the carrier bags to see if we got her some fish ,or meat. Hope everyone is enjoying the milder weather, and what's left of the weekend, catch you later ,Fred.

Morning Dorothy,he he,am i glad you decided to stay because otherwise i would be talking to myself,it seems. Brenda is having a few prob's at the moment and is very busy sorting things out ,so it looks like we will have to rely on Edith ,yoo hoo, where are you Edith? It looks like being a nice day here despite the very cold night we have just had,so chilly in fact that the brassica plants in the greenhouse are looking a bit wilted. I have a few flower plants ,still to go out so i will get on with that as soon as it warms up a little ,then i will get the big mower out and do the lawns. By the time we get back to Newcastle after the week away it will be all hands to the pumps to get all the buckets filled up with the crops. Tomorrow i will be putting the runner ,and dwarf beans in the cups ,so they will be ready to go out in three weeks with any luck. We are now trying to sort out our power bills ,seeing as our protected 4 year rate finishes at the end of the month, with british gas. The new protected rate they quoted is well above todays rate ,which is a ruddy rip off,so unless they come up with a solution on the phone ,they will be loosing us and we will go with Eon instead. Well ,Fred is off to do a little packing ,see ya' later troops.Fred.

goodmorning to-day (wed) is the youngest grandson's birthday Ian is 11 to-day I just phoned him before he left for school we are all getting to-gether for dinner this evening he has picked to go to the manderian chinese resturant for his birthday dinner quite a nice buffet place as I am still not driving I will be picked up about 4-45. I have not had any episodes for a week so I am hoping that I will be behind the wheel quite soon!!! as usual fred your garden is coming along in leaps and bounds, our hydro bill is now coming every two months and this includes the electric heat that we have here got my bill yesterday 482 dollars for 2 months it is quite an expense and we do not get any relief being seniors.but have not needed the heat on for about 3 weeks as the weather is not very cold. yes fred quite a few of the mates seem to be very quiet on the site maybe they will pop in again soon, I see that the planes are flying again , what do you think of the tv debates that you are having re the election they are quite popular over here I wonder who will get voted in. I see the queen is 84 to-day hope that she has a great day. I watched the movie young victoria on the tele yesterday it was just released on d.v.d I quite enjoyed it especially as I saw part of it being filmed when anne and I where in london on my last visit. actually I watched i twice as I invited a friend down to watch it. bye for now dorothy

I am thinking of getting a new pc as this is second hand ,hopefully will not get the same problems. My nephew in law is coming one night this week to see why I can not get my lap top on the internet again!!! Dorothy I am so pleased you are doing well ,hope the birthday dinner goes ok.Having lunch with a friend tomorrow ,so we might have chinese ,or there agin it might be a soup and sandwich job in M&S. Fred my carrots ,leeks and spring onions are doing well and the spuds are doing very well,Have not sort any tom plants yet ,the ones in B&Q seemed wilted to say the least. Hope to be bck tomorrow ,but as things are i can not promise,Take care ,Brenda

Morning all you early birds out there ,wherever you may be,from a veeeeery chilly Newcastle ,where Fred was out feeding the ;lawns at 0500 this morning ,he he ,standing there feeder bottle on the end of the hose, spraying everything in sight [exept for Hissy who was hiding under the car,] and watching the frost settling on the hedges,,i havn't seen that since i was a bairn ,lol. Sounds like you have somehow lost the server settings on the laptop Brenda, which really is nothing to do with the age of the laptop, but not to worry ,your Nephew will soon sort it for you no doubt. I got my big h p laptop with a deal on the t.Mobile dongle for use when i am away from home ,for £20 odd a month ,but i notice that the prices have gone up quite a bit and think i will in future ,just go to a shop such as Curry's and buy one outright. Nice to hear you are doing so well with your veggies ,my tatties are still hiding somewhere under the soil, but i don't think it will be much longer till they show through. The sugar plum tomatoes are now through anyway ,and the cucumber are well away,so my salad crops are looking good. Hi Dorothy, the debates i am watching with bated breath, hoping that that fast lying ,arrogant scottish misfit Brown goes down with the labour ship.promises a referendum ,lying git ,he never gave us a referendum on Europe so his are all broken promises ,along with all the others, most of the troubles in this country ,including the banks ,collapses were because the man sat on his fat arse and let the banks do as they pleased.huh.i wouldnt let that one eyed bas***d lose with a hoe in my veggie patch . I hope Mr cleg will stuff the other parties good style ,but he could make it easy by withdrawing all our troops from Afghanistan ,and Iraq, and saving this country billions of pounds ,clearing our debts within months. [Off the high horse now he he].,hmmmmmm,i do like these chinese buffets myself but have to watch what i am eating. Time to go and get the missus here cuppa, she will be busy today packing a few things for tomorrow, catch you later ,Fred
