So does it really matter how we communicate as long as we can and do.

Life can at times be very hard for some so if talking on a forum with friends one has made over a period of time, offer light relief, then I for one say why should that be up for crititism.

Careful now Lynda....you know you mustn't comment on subjects if others could possibly disagree :-D..........now my thoughts on the subject are.......Nope! .......not saying! :-D

Why not ??

Susan10146857 Report 15 Jan 2014 15:31

Because I don't think Lynda was criticising..as she points out, it was about her friend not anyone in particular...and would hate be be told that I was too.....because I quite agree with her :-).....to see or hear grown women or men speak or write in such a way is, to me, weird ......but.....as is said......each to ones own..... I Just avoid like the plague in case it becomes catching .....I sooooo don't want to start talking in a ikkle cute way......or is that an ikkle?......who knows......off to boil my head in carrot juice
:-D

oh whoops......I commented after all..... :-D

But Rose, as the fun threads are 'odd' in themselves, using strange words doesn't make any difference. If people new to the boards think we all ride round on pink scooters waving wands and eating magic mushrooms then I wonder who is the odd one? As I said I would rather that than using the right words spelled wrongly all the time. But we do accept how people spell because we live and let live. :-)

I quite agree with you Mersey......you carry on talking any way you want to.....I shall just go on avoiding and we will both be happy.......and I mean that in the nicest possible way....:-) .......nobody is trying to get you to stop.....just commenting on the weirdness of it all and bemused more than criticising.

Spelt incorrectly!

~Lynda~ Report 15 Jan 2014 15:46

I have had a few emails Susan wiv, who have commented on "undertones" about a spelling mistake I have made, I could change it, but I'm not bothered by it, as I've said a few times now, this thread was to ask why it' seems to be getting more common for people to choose to spell some words, such as gawgus, instead of gorgeous, etc, it was an observation I made from a friends posts who uses another site, Paula seems to have the same friend ;-)

I wouldn't comment on someone's ability to spell, for all I know they maybe dyslexic, or have a learning disability, or some other reason, it's none of my business.

Looks like I've hit a nerve with commenting about my observation, no idea why that is.

For anyone reading this who has difficulty with spelling, never be be put off posting, it's what you write that matters.

Looks like this thread is being used for other purposes now, good job I'm off out :-D

If you mean Criticise as opposed to criticize, Errol ......that is debate able.......but I think you may be missing the point........As I see it.....and maybe I am wrong......Lynda meant people who deliberately spell words incorrectly not those who cannot spell or make mistakes....there is a difference...

Well, if it was nasty then maybe the RRer had a point.....if not then why not post it again?

Big difference Susan wiv, you can see that, I can see that, some choose not to see it for some reason, and of course you have to have those "in" comments that have nothing to do with the thread, just the I hate you, and I hate you back comments.

I don't care if members love one another one minute and fall out the next, just don't think that the rest of us want to know about it.

Susan10146857

Susan10146857 Report 15 Jan 2014 16:16

I don't think any of us can comment on that Mersey...well, not me anyway.....it's not really the time or place to air ones grievances over something that has nothing to do with the thread. I am sure you will agree to delete.....it doesn't do you any favours.....tis nothing to do with us and the RRer had every reason to RR it.....not taking sides.....it just isn't the place to air it.......and that goes for the other person involved too......I, and many others, don't want to know, so keep it off our threads and stick to PMing

AnninGlos – you’ve forgotten the supercharged broomstick, Tin hats and hob-nailed boots, let alone the virtual throne room. :-D

Referring back to Linda’s friend – since using this site on a daily basis, I do find that I’m using emoticons when emailing a friend of 53 years standing, something I never used to do. Perhaps Linda’s friend is a member of some other site where her style of posting is more prevalent? :-S
