Rambling Report 5 Aug 2012 12:23

I wondered if this would still be here this morning. I didn't add last night, lolol just as well.

a little description ( and no I don't suffer from epilepsy, though I have had a couple of migraines in my middle years) this is why I get so annoyed by people who 'don't know'.

About 2 months ago I was sitting reading this board when a small very black spider on a web came across my left eye ( it's my 'bad' eye anyway, worse vision than the right eye),, I brushed my hair away thinking it was attached, but the spider remained. It is a large black 'floater', eye tests immediately, showed it 'could ' be the beginning of a detached retina...but I knew that already because my mum had it.

She described it as a 'black blob' in the centre of everything she looked at.But I really didn't comprehend how difficult it made things, you don't unless you experience the same.

My little friend is a floating spider, it doesn't show particularly intrusively if I look at darker colours, but againsy expanses of white, or pale colours it swings about back and forth, and in an effort to 'not see it' I frown and concentrate until the effort to do so gives me a headache.

Now why do that you ask? why not do 'something else', well I don't know , do YOU have a hobby that you love, that you fight against giving up? for me that is being able to write, it is being able to do research for myself and others, it is being able to chat to people who I have something ( or often nothing) in common with.

No it isn't the end of the world that this site is harder to use now, harder than Ancestry say, (where a page of census has more black than white) but for me, and I suggest for some of those who are complaining about the changes here, it is just another little thing that is 'taken away', a bit of pleasure that is subtly denied, one more thing one 'can't do' for fun.

I think it wouldn't hurt for those who are hale and hearty to just think for a moment how they would feel if it were them with the problem. Some might have a real whinge, some might be more stoic lol, but it doesn't mean people are imagining the problem, nor should keep silent just to please those who don't ( and some use the boards so infrequently then the problem for them IS minimal) .

Alll anyone is asking for is a bit of thought to go into finding what will suit as many members as possible.

All anyone ever asks really Rose is a little bit of thought and compassion for others. Sadly that is sometimes lacking on here. I was hoping that your eye was improving, sorry that it is not. :-)

Here here :-D

I admit I do hate change I am old, but normally I try to embrace it, when I first logged on after the revamp , it wasnt the change it look bare but I did post a thread after a few mins my eyes were stinging, I kept away for a few days and low and behold they have had a tweak and I have adapted now just because I have I dont expect others to have, but lets hope something is sorted soon so EVERYONE can get back to enjoying the site.

AS FOR YOU DIZZI , WHEN I FIRST READ THIS THREAD, THIS MORNING I TOOK IT AS GENIUE CAUSE FOR CONCERN BECAUSE OF THE CONDITION, AND THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT IT IS. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO EXPLAIN TO ANYONE WHY YOU HAVE POSTED A THREAD. I DONT DO GARDENING OR BIRD WATCHING OR COME FROM WALES IT DOENST MEAN OTHERS DONT SO EVERYONE HAS DIFFERENT INTERESTS, YOU CAN POST A THREAD ABOUT THE HARD SKIN ON THE SOLES OF YOUR FEET IF YOU LIKE YOU DO NOT HAVE TO APOLIGISE (sp) :-D

It's to be lived with Ann lol, it is irritating when writing though, I will have to try and cover the empty white page quickly ;-)

:-) Dizzi, you asked a perfectly sensible question, a shame the thread was taken into another direction.

Now that GR have made the decision to change the site i think we will see it continue to evolve over time,

But only whilst the issues are debated and if members send their feedback to the GR team

Just my opinion and mine alone

Still got my shades on,still too bright for me and no doubt others,as for the Trolls? I tend to ignore their stupid facitious remarks. It was a genuine question which was asked and a few others "Including myself" added to it with their own problems with it. As for the soles of feet? I have that as well, :-S,but then I think "AAAH" :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D ;-)

Kay???? Report 5 Aug 2012 18:10

My grandaughter is Epileptic and on medication for life ,,,,,,, and its not classed as a disability unless there are other factors involved.,.an epilepitic fit can be brought on by by nothing at all it just happens, but certain things can increase the chances of inducing one,,,,,,such as flashing lights over a long time thats called photo sensitivity and so disco lights are advised to be avoided for a long time.

My G/D doesnt use a filter on her laptop, but I know she wouldnt have coped well with the screen as bright as it was,and not saying either it would have induced a seizure.

Just be sensible if things arent right,,,,,you wouldn stand in front of a diso lighting deck knowing it could induce.

I keep having to squint to see the text on threads,,,,,,,,,and its giving me winkles round me eyes,,,,,,,,,,,,take note GR,,,,,, ;-) ;-) :-D

It's only spoiled if you let it be, for me I just think one person has been made to look foolish & it's not me so it's ok. Chin up, shoulders back, put your best foot forward & keep going.
PS... that's 102 postings now. :-D
