Good evening Ladies, and Secret Peepers!
I hope I find you all in fine fettle. Rain dear Susan, we have had buckets of the stuff, and we are now enjoying a spell of rather sunnier weather. It was so strong today that I had to take my parasol out with me. A lady never tans you know, one must be Pale and Interesting.
Dear little Georgie Porgie has been all over our newspapers Susan, he is a chubby little darling. We are all proud of him. Does he not look exactly like his Papa did at his age? Those little chubby cheeks, just like his Grandpapa, Lord Spencer.
Now, as you know, the Nuptials are coming on us at a gallop! Only Sunday week, and Beattie will be a Married Woman. Not that she has not been one before, but this is a new husband for her. She has been a widow for a good many years, and should her husband not have died from accidental poisoning, she would be coming up for her Golden Wedding.
So, my outfit is ready for collection, and I shall be picking up the dyed shoes and bags tomorrow too.
Busy, busy, always busy!

Happy Easter Ladies,
Happy Wedding Petunia, I trust you are happy with your outfit.?. We will wait with baited breath for all the details - gory or otherwise.
It is hissing down here and forecast to do so for the next couple of days.... ** can you read my mind ** :-| :-|
Yesterday I went shopping for our weekend tucker , we are going away. I bought enough to feed quite a few.. Our visitors who were coming for dinner on Saturday evening are now not joining us :-(.. *** please, feel free to read my mind again, or did it scare you the first time? ***
The upside, I bought Easter eggs for them all and now will have to eat them ourselves. :-).
Have a lovely weekend all,
Susan

Good Morning Ladies, and a Happy Easter to you All.
We have a Birthday Girl in our midst, so Many Happy Upside Down Returns, dear Susan!
May I send best wishes to dear Elizabeth who came to visit too. Please do call again dear, you will be very welcome. Just come and sit beside the fire at Motie Towers, I know it is a very old draughty house even in Summer, and we have to keep the fires burning all year around. Please draw up a chair, tis mid-morning, so coffee and cakes will be served very soon by dear little Holly, she and her mother Mrs Berry and real treasures, and they cook up a storm. Please do partake of a morsel or two, and tell me all about yourself. I can see you left your deckled edged, hand engraved calling card in the hallway. That proves you are a naicely well brought up young lady. Rest awhile.
So......................back to business......................this weekend is the Wedding of The Year. Beattie is to be married. She is staying with me, and arrived last night in a cloud of talcum powder and nerves! We are having a relaxing day today, and I have arranged for a beautifying day. We have having massages, and treatments all day. I did not know who to go for, so I saw a small advertisement in the back pages of the local newspapers. It is called Aphrodites Massage, so they will be sending two representatives later on today. I have never been massaged before, nor has Beattie, so it will be something new for both of us. Such fun!
I know you are all dying to know what I am wearing, so I will not keep you in suspense any longer. I changed my mind, and dithered a bit, and not wishing to upstage the Bride, I decided upon a lemon number. I have gone all Queen Mum, with flowing dresses, and feather hat. Our two outfits, mine and Beattie's are hanging in bags outside the wardrobe in the Lilac Room, and I suspect mine is a little classier, but that is being just between outselves. Beattie's intended will love her even if she arrived in a bin-liner!
So.................I shall make that do for now, as the florist is at the door.
Have a lovely Easter All, and I shall report on the wedding when we next meet.

#puffs onto thread#
Hello there Ladies, what a week it has been!
It all started with the arrival of the young men who came to give us a massage............I think I mentioned this is passing, that Beattie and I had never been massaged before? The two young men arrived promptly, and immediately sent poor Pat-trish-aaaaah into a tizzy. They were rather handsome young men, and they asked us if we wanted a normal massage, or did we want anything else. Not knowing what they were offering, we stuck to the massage. I did dally with the idea of hot stones because I had seen it on a travelogue. But warming them up in the cooker did not appeal.
I have to say they were very good at their job, if a little eager to please. Can anyone tell me if it is normal for THEM to be stripped to the waist for the massage? Of course modesty prevailing, I declined to strip altogether and kept my drawers and liberty bodice on. Tutty tut. Beattie being a game old bird, decided that her massage should be in the buff. Tutty tut again!
I must say it destressed us to the point we were like damp dishcloths. However, the ladies to do the facials sent us off to dreamland. It was wonderful. Lots of pots of potions and creams. I have to say, in a dim light, by the flickering candles I could have passed for 20 years younger.
So, the day of The Wedding arrived. Beattie was all of a flutter. She looked marvellous in her dress, and the Matron of Honour did herself proud too. Would it be discourteous to say I looked a picture too? No? Then I did!
George, Francine, dear little Valentine and Celestine came over for the weekend, and George arrived in a vintage Daimler to take us to the church. I have to say we all drew gasps of admiration when we arrived. Did I say that I gave the Bride away? I did, and felt proud beyond reason walking Beattie down the aisle.
The Wedding went off without a hitch, and reception was wonderful. A little sad though, for absent friends, even the cake was in tiers [sorry ladies, my little joke] and the Bride and Groom made their exit suitably early. And there we thought was the end of the story. But no, there is more to tell. But I shall tell you later dears. Must dash....................

Hello dears, what a to do. I thought things may have changed over the last few days and I would not have to tell you all the terrible truth, but it would come out eventually, but I must say I am still a little shellshocked.
As I said before the Wedding went off without a hitch, Millie was Matron of Honour even though she has never married, but to call a middle aged woman a Bridesmaid would have been patronising!
As I also said before, Beattie and Millie got on like a house on fire, they became very animated in each other's company, and went everywhere together. I thought it a little strange when Millie insisted on going on Honeymoon with the Happy Couple. But then again, she was probably looking after her dear Papa.
Unfortunately that was not the case, and the Captain returned home alone! Millie and Beattie have run away together. I thought there was a few furtive looks, private jokes and when Beattie said they were Bosum Buddies, I thought she was being kind. The wink was a little offputting though.
Well I suppose I could understand it really, Millie was not had a mother figure in her life for a good few years, and Beattie never had children. So I suppose it will be naice for them to keep each other company. Although the poor Captain was gobsmacked. And a little uncharitable too I thought. He turned very nasty indeed. It turned out that Millie has had these 'crushes' before, and it always ended badly. Nevertheless they have decided to move to the coast and start a Cattery for homeless moggies. So all is well that ends well I suppose.
Our State Visits is moving at a pace towards us. We have heard from dear Cherry and she is to join us, waving her flag. How lovely.
Another Bank Holiday this weekend. If I do not see any of you before then, do have a restful one, and come back refreshed and we can plan our next rollicking adventure gels.

Lordy Petunia,
I just about choked on my cereal reading your last post. :-). Here I was imagining how lovely the wedding sounded... Ee by gum. A Cattery you say?.... Well I never..... I wait with baited breath :-D.
How lovely that dear Cherry is able to join the party. It will be all very exciting indeed. Let us hope the sun shines on one and all , nothing like a sunny day to lift the spirits. :-).
My Mama's little dog is unwell :-(, I really hope she gets better as I know my Mama dotes on that little pooch, it is great company for her and they take quite a few constitutionals each day....
Talking of pooches, on our little walk this morning, 'our' pup came across a goat. The pup and the goat eyed each other through a fence and gave each other a little sniff.... The pup was quite bemused when the goat, err, passed water ;-).. I am not generally a fan of goats but it was quite entertaining watching the two this morning..
I am trying to walk each day to 'tone up' before my little holiday.. There is a bit more of me at the moment than there should be.. :-D. Oh dear...
~~~~~ to Teresa and Lesley. I do hope they are both well.
Enjoy your Bank Holiday Petunia. :-)
Hallo Elizabeth :-), wishing you a very happy and enjoyable bank holiday.
Ladies it is GCSE season, where did those last five years go???? FTY is in full revision mode with a little tutting and encouraging from his Mamma ;-) The devils x box is on reduced time :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D ;-) ;-)
Goodness Auntie, what a sociable gal young Millie is. As you say, it must be the bonding of family ties etc. Maybe the captain could have a few rounds of golf with the chaps while they are away :-D I will avoid the cattery at all costs. Moggies give me a wheezy chest :-| :-| :-| Its a little delicate to go into the matter of your gentleman callers, I do hope they did not catch cold going out with out a vest. You do know that vests must be worn until the end of may doncha Auntie :-D
Susan I do hope your Mums little dog is on the mend. <3 The state visit is very near, yipeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. I too am toning ;-) I did smile about the goat. Our ducks are back :-)
Lesley, the Inn named after our future king is a nice venue........however if you have a tuk tuk I wonder if the newly refurbed Inn, along the road from the other teashop inn near your neck of the woods be an option, I saw on my way home from paid toil yesterday that it had reopened. it may be a bit "out in the woods" for the Ladies. What do you think :-) Hope all is well down your neck of the woods :-D :-D :-D
Well unpaid toil calls,
Good evening ladies. I shall not tarry too long, for I am to have dinner at Georgianna's very soon. Along with her dear husband, Octavia and her ever loving too.
We are still in a state of shock with Beattie, but Octavia is having none of it, mumbling something about 'close set eyes'.
Our biggest headache is who will we get now to play the organ at church, and the Centenary of WW1.
May I suggest dear ladies that we keep our arrangements to a more private forum dears, as we have the eyes of the world upon us. You know it makes sense.
I wish you all a very happy Bank Holiday, and wish the pooch a speedy recovery.
Well dinner last night was a riot! There was recriminations and double recriminations! Georgianna blamed Octavia, Octavia blamed me, and I blamed myself for being so stupid! How could we not see what was happening in front of our eyes?
Church this morning was a quiet affair, we had a wind-up gramaphone, and it kept running down. We sang v-e-r-y slowly indeed, and then speeded up to sound like Pinky and Perky. I do hope I have not lost you at that last remark! Not very successful indeed.
No-one has heard from either Beattie nor Millie, so we will let the dust settle until the cake is eaten, and the bills are paid. The Captain is beside himself, not only has he lorst his sweetheart, but also his beloved daughter. Oh what a tangled web we weave.
I have been visiting the Old Soldiers and Sailors Home this afternoon. Some voluteers have been collecting for them, and we had a bit of a blow-out this afternoon. Bully-beef sandwiches, pork pies and trifles. Jolly good wheeze.
Enjoy what is left of the Bank Holiday dears, Tuesday will come all too soon.
Pinky & Perky, now there is a blast from the past. :-)
Bully Beef sandwiches don't sound very tempting..... though I do like a bit of trifle.
Ladies, I had a ring from my Mama yesterday afternoon , she was very upset, she had just found her little dog dead. The pooch had taken herself away quietly and lay down behind a small garden wall. :-(. Poor little pooch. I know my Mama will miss her little mate dearly. <3.
Monday again here so that means off to work I go ... Short week as we are away Thursday/Friday to a conference. Yippeee.. I shall not conference, I shall shop and lunch and visit the hotel spa.... I wonder if there will be any shirtless chaps waiting to tend to me :-D.?
Good evening ladies, I hope you are all well.
Oh dear Susan, I am very sad to hear that your Mama's doggy has passed away. Out doggies are our constant companions and never ask one for anything, apart from their food and drink, and they give so much in return.
I hope your Bank Holiday went well dears, I did laugh when everywhere on the radio and television they said that people were on holiday. I know quite a few people who were not!
I am sitting writing this with a shawl around my shoulders dears, tis a bit chilly still. Where, or where, is Summer?
