Thank you all for your concerns dears. Thank goodness I had the jab, I hate to think what I would have been without it. Probably in the Infirmary!!!!!
My eye is starting to 'bleach' out already. So maybe it was not so alarming after all. I thought of wearing an eye patch, but did not want to be mistaken to Lady GaGa, I get mobbed enough as it is, without parading around with a lobster on my head.
Soooooo, Cherry has her plastic bag ensemble, I have my outfit, and we are fit and ready to go. so exciting. I shall probably have a little weep into my lace edged hankerchief. Even the cake will be in tiers....................
I think the Joan Collins Fan Club used to make references to Fishermans Friends. But then again, he always throwing caution to the wind.
Please keep warm dears, they have forecast MORE cold weather. I am losing the will to live dears, I am in dire need of sunshine.
I wonder how long it would take to fly to EnZed?
Take care dears Auntie Petunia

no Lesley, it was a joke I heard on the radio many years ago, on the Ken Bruce show. I always say : if it was allowed on the radio, its permissible for me to repeat it !!!!!
Another joke that I heard on the Sarah Kennedy show - about Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson on a camping trip -was so funny I remember it to this day.
I hope everyone is feeling warmer today, it was so cold last night I had to put my cosy dressing gown over the bedclothes, AND I have a continental quilt in a duvet cover which ought to keep me cosy. I used to be such a warm little body but this has been a horridly hard winter for us all even when it hasnt been snowy or icy, because of the wind chill factor.
Petunia dear, I am glad to see your eye is showing signs of improvement, we do need someone like yourself to keep an eye on everything and everyone, how else would improvements and enhancements be made?
Alas my binbag ensemble has suffered a fate worse than death, for the dear cat decided to jump on my lap while I was still wearing it, and proceeded to exercise her claws, and now I have designer rips everywhere, do you think safety pins to hold the shreds together would be de rigeur? And one's first husband accidentally sat on my toilet roll and tissue paper hat which is now at flat as a pancake. I now have no clothes to wear to the wedding. Am wondering if I should turn up in my birthday suit, except that needs ironing ....... ah, decisions decisions !! ;-)

*plonks butt down on typing chair with a weary sigh*
oh good the Spybot scan I left running while I went out was clear.
We went for dinner at the Toby Carvery. MFH's idea, and I had a voucher for a carvery plus ice cream for two, for a set price. First of all we drove to the Enfield one as the parking is better there, only to find it was closed. So we drove back to Harlow because by then I didnt feel like cooking anyway and we had MIL with us. We had to pay the full price for MILs carvery of course, but as the voucher was for two meals we left her doing the washing up. ...... only joking :-D :-D :-D
It is still very cold, worse because its dark, and the rain is getting heavier. I have plans for the weekend which do not include being snowed in .........
Must go and see if my pusskins is back yet, she went in the garden before we went out.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ to Lesley, dont worry dear. Tomorrow is another day :-)
Lesley dear, I have never been into the clothing emporium of which you speak. Im waiting for a lottery win and then I can venture in, ;-) Did you cross the road to the very fine cake and bakery shop which has been there for the last 50 years, the cakes are yummy and they make the most wonderful Birthday/celebration cakes to order at a reasonable price. I was at paid toil keeping warm while you were hacking up the hill or down the hill depending where you were parked. I have to hack up the hill :-D
Cherry I am orff to the Toby cavery with the Ladies who lunch next week. I am looking for the meal deals :-D :-D :-D :-D
Aunty take the slow boat to FTE in warmer climes. She has a spare bunk in her cabin and could do with some genteel company. I will bypass Anouk and nip down to Mr Haveitalls shop for my thermals :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D
Teresa
Yipppeeee, I have lorst 3.5lbs this week despite having afternoon tea and two lunches out :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D
enjoy your Toby lunch Teresa, as for meal deals why not google for the Toby website and download any vouchers you find.
Another way to get hold of their vouchers - send them an email either praising the restaurant or complaining about poor service, cold food, whatever ..... ;-). You will be inundated with e-mails containing meal deal vouchers to print off, forever and a day !!!
Lesley I've decided not to accept your kind offer of those Wade Whimsies, I've felt all along you should keep them for the baby to inherit, and tbh family and friends who wander into charity and junk shops see a Whimsie and think of me so buy it for me, plus I go to collectors fairs and buy one or two at a time, with the result that the Whimsie cabinet is now full and I really cant squeeze any more in. Aside from this, from what you've told me they'd need reconditioning which would involve me having to find the time to do this with a file, felt tip pens to color-match, and glue for the "finish", and I'm not well and getting worse by the day and dont really want the extra work.
So thanks for your kind thought but as you havent posted them yet please keep them for baby E :-) Christine
#a snowwoman is standing in the parlour by the fire, slowly it defrosts, and reveals a little old, but beautifully form, lady#
My, my, but it is blooming chilly out there. Even my icicles, have got icicles. There is wind blowing around my rafters, and they are rattling in the walls, or is that my poor old bones?
I was to take a trip to Hertforshire this week dears, but will put it orft I think, as I do not want to get into the Wilds, then find I cannot get home again. I was to visit a friend of mine who was having a six months respite from her paid toil, but I may well go and see her when the weather improves.
I trust the nuptials all went swimmingly. I hope we can expect photographs when dear Upsidedown Susan is ready. Nothing like a wedding to lift our spirits.
I see that nice Mr Foyle is back on the television tonight. He does make my heart quiver a little. He has such a lovely voice..........................he isn't bad looking either in a posh sort of way. I do like a bit of posh totty gels. My goodness.........I said that out loud!
Lesley and Teresa dear. You too are out in the Wilds are you not dears? Are you getting the east wind blowing through your thermals dears? I would love to enjoy warmer weather dear, but I fear that a ship would be too small to hold me dears. You know how I love to organise, and I would hate the put the crew on the back foot.
Chuck another log on the fire Cherry dear, and place the guard in front of it, remember what happened the last time the fire spat at us.................who knows we could move so fast!
well I thought Jack Frost (not the RD Wingfield detective) had somehow managed to breach the defences of Motie Towers. You were unrecognizable when you walked in. Where on earth have you been dear? you werent in your room and surely its far too cold for you to be out and about doing your Good Works. I noticed that Pat rish aaaah has borrowed your sable coat to do the housework in, and what a good job its dark sable because otherwise the duraglit stains would show up.
Alas we only have one log left Petunia dear. I think tomorrow we shall have to think about burning some of the books in the library. Although -------- there is always That Wardrobe in the attic rooms, if I can catch it. Like Delia Smith's Movable Feasts That Wardrobe is extremely agile. It rather reminds me of The Luggage.
I have been assisting Mr Foyle in his endeavours, while making little doilies with a crochet hook. The wool fibres are causing me some irritation I think, for I feel like I have Cotton Mill Throat wot used to kill mill workers in earlier centuries.
Oh dear me there is quite a puddle on the floor now. I hope that is from your defrosting Petunia, and not ........... Ooohhhhh Petunia ..... you DIDNT !!!! ;-D
Aunty we are in the wilds and tis very cold here. I think Lesley may be even more in the wilds than I :-0 The only loverly warm palce is paid toil, oh the joy of the warmth :-D :-D :-D
We have an old shed here Ladies, Its falling down and would be very good as firewood. I shall send it down the cyber hatch to you to keep warm.
Tootling orff to feed the fruit,
Hi Lesley,
I miss Evans as it was, it was the palce to get the most wonderful christmas deccies. Howver the card shop opposite has a new owner and sells lovely Evans type gifts on a smaller scale. The Bridal shop is owned by a younger lady, a mob I know said the dresses were stunning in there. The cake shop has been in its same position for as long as I recall, well at least since I was at school when glam rock and punk were in the charts :-D
Hope you are keeping warm and hugs to baby E. :-D
hoho we all know a man Teresa - but whether or not he is any good at it is another matter ........ ;-)
glad to hear you enjoyed your dins at the Toby, when the staff do their jobs properly and dont charge wrongly its a good venue to visit. They were doing a lovely cheesecake [which I wasnt supposed to eat], until it went off the menu recently. I'm not supposed to eat ice cream either but when its part of a meal deal, or free ..... how is a gal to resist.
I spent the night wrapped up like Nanook of the North in my bed - it aint getting any warmer innit - am sitting here with a hot water bottle against my back cos I'm enveloped in Chill Factor, and that isnt a new fragrance!! Am going to B&Q with MFH later on, but my back goes out more than wot I do.
I hope you arent offended Lesley because it really was kind of you to offer the Wade pieces. Save them for Baby E.
I didnt realise you used to deal in collectables. I collect - am trying to acquire a few Goebel cruet pieces at the moment in eBay bidding cos I think they're cute. It all started years ago when Auntie Jess passed me two Carlton ware double (leaf) plates and a 'bunny and cabbage on a dish' Goebel cruet set. I dont really have anyone to leave my collectables to, as my Offspring cannot stand them, and there wont be another generation after her - I mean, direct line of descent. So I think the gt niece and gt nephew will be the recipients (and, hopefully grateful for what they will be given). These items from my aunt mean a lot to me.
I remember a shop in Enfield called Evans, where they sold posh clothing in larger sizes, at the time I was quite sylph-like but I could do with an Evans now, just to compare M&S with for quality style and pricing. Bon Marche arent as good as they used to be, I think they switched to a cheaper sweat shop to cut costs.
no sign of Susan yet ......... I hope she didnt go on honeymoon with the bridal pair!!! :-D
Morning Ladies,
Well, what an amazingly beautiful wedding we had, OH and I were so proud of the fruit, she looked radiant all day. I shall email through a few photos for you to peruse. The weather played ball, the ceremony and readings delightful, many a tear shed by quite a few of the guests. My fruit heard me reach into my purse for a tissue. I wear my gold bangles all the time.... She can pick me out in an instant.
So, today the happy couple fly off to warmer climes for a nice relaxing week.. We have the pup, we have decided to let her sleep inside while with us, she will go home to hers through the day and back here after my work... It is up to Mr and Mrs Fruit to re 'kennel' her when they get home ;-).
Lordy, when ever will your weather decide to 'play ball', Ghastly by all accounts. I feel quite sorry for you up toppers.. The coldest March in how many years?
I have to return to toil today, one more day off would be most helpful but as it is a short week with Good Friday, I shouldn't be too greedy..
Have a pleasant evening, Susan
