It takes willpower to get clean, even if the desire to get clean is strong.

If you've little or no willpower & give in to cravings no amount of money or support will get you clean.

I would imagine the one more fix & Ill go on the programme next week applies to many, but in many cases that one more fix is the last.

Such as shame, so talented and she threw it all away for the sake of drugs and drink.

Condolences to her family.

Dear All

Hello

Very sad and shocked to see on the news that Amy Winehouse has passed away.

I would say it is very easy to get dragged along and down into a spiral of drugs and alcohol.

Unfortunately, in many cases of famous celebrities, the so-called entourage do nothing to help or protect.

Being in the public eye and having money does not guarantee happiness or health. Any personal problems are magnified.

It is an utterly pointless death.

I feel deeply for her parents and the people who genuinely cared for her.

May she now have peace.

Take gentle care all
Sincere wishes
EOS
xx

I have to say I cried when I heard the news.

Such a sorry waste of talent and life.

She will go down in the music books as another who died at the 'magic' age of 27, like Janice Joplin, Jim Morrison, Jimi Hendrix and probably a few more.

Thank goodness her music will be left as a permanent reminder of what a pure voice, and talent she had.

RIP

Her music was a breathe of fresh air or more so landed with a thud, she came along just when the British music scene needed something or some ump, she sounded different she looked different and she was unique, orginal and most talented she wrote her own music and lyrics, after years of having to put up with manufacted rubbish, along came Amy who performed ( at her peak) with a live band , I will personally mourn the loss of her talent and music.

Stan,
it is still a tragedy.
I don't think anyone would choose to become an addict. The problem is once hooked on drink, drugs or anything addictive it is not simply a case of stopping. Families of addicts go through absolute hell but for the most part continue believing their loved one will one day break the spiral of downward destruction before it is too late.

its sad to see somebody die so young
but if it was drugs its a wasted life
when poor kids died through no fault of their own in norway
drugs are a dreadful cures to families rich and poor

my sympathies lie with her family

Who knows why any of us do the things we do?
Maybe peer pressure, boredom, too much money, just to see what it'slike.
Before you know it, you're hooked.

"You cant stop taking drugs ,like you can stop smoking

So why do they start ?!
______________________________

Why do smokers (In this day & age) light up their very first fag ?

The same reason someone tries drugs for the first time,

Curiosity, of course you know other people who dabble occasionally who come to no harm.

Enjoying the experience, believing as its only an occasional puff or hit they are strong minded enough to take it and leave it.

Occasional dabbles get more frequent until its painful if you stop.

Lets stop blaming Amy & start blaming the scum who deal the drugs & prey on the vulnerable.

RIP Amy its a sad day when someone so young dies .her talent was her voice .she is not the only person to be on drugs .as our local paper will tell you . there is so much of it now in every day life .crooks are making a fortune .dealing .& young people i feel .have to try it or get bullied .what does that say for our society now. Drink & Drugs .are highlighted everyday on tv ..its causing .abuse .berglaries & respect for fellow human beings I think it has.taken over so many lives & destroyed them. if there is no cure for it .wev.e` had our lives the older generation .& .can see what is happening .but advise & listening to us .has gone forever Barbra

when people proform in gigs ect they get a rush which stops them sleeping
so some take downers to help them sleep
but then during the day they have to take uppers to help them through the day it then becomes a circle of distruction
also their mangement sometimes encourage them to take drugs
as it makes the star easier to manage as with michael jackson

they spiral from one drug to another looking for highs and lows

The problem here is that so many youngsters look up to these people as idols, thinking it's cool with some ending up on the same slippery slope.
Of course it's all too easy to lay the blame for that misfortune at someone else's doorstep but it will come home to roost eventually.

I lost two uncles to alcoholism, one with Cirrhosis and one in a house fire.
My own best man also died of Cirrhosis at the age of 49 so it will come as no great shock to anyone to find that I don't really drink.

So yes, the sad loss of another young life but to an enemy which is all to prevalent in the modern age and you do see the results of it's work in the streets as it gradually wears it's victims down.

I worked night shift in a shop for many years and was always struck by the fact that the obvious drug users were regular customers until their habit eventually dug deep causing them to disappear ............... permanently.

The sad bit being that there were always more coming in to continue the cycle. :-( :-( :-S

My deepest sympathy to her family. Amy was extremely talented with a wonderful never to be forgotten voice. Sadly like many other such people she was a tormented soul, and her family made every possible move to try to help her. I can only say "there but for the grace of God, go I or one of my family. Luckily I have never been in her shoes and neither have my children.

My thoughts and prayers are for her and all who will miss her.

May you she now rest in peace
