Oh I've had a horrible day! firstly I haven't been too good for the past 5 days, secondly the blickin cat brought in a LIVE mouse! it was in the kitchen, I managed to drag the fridge freezer out only to find it had shot behind the storage heater, cat was going frantic trying to get it out,, I had the hall door closed and there is no way the mouse could get through or under it, so I had to leave cat and mouse in the kitchen while I went off to WW. To top it all I have gained 1/2lb I am so fed up, I know its not much but I was doing so well,I think I wouldn't have felt so bad if the cat hadn't brought the mouse, in, chasing him and said mouse around our large kitchen was not fun, this is the second live one he's brought in in as many days, last ights one got into the hall way, fortunately I managed to open the front door and shoo it out, Sid was reprimanded, not that he understands a word I say, he just adores playing with them.

Don't worry about the 1/2lb gain Dolly. Just forget about it and keep going toward next weeks weigh in which will probably show a loss. At least chasing the mouse gave you some exercise. lol

Reminds me of the rat we found living in the jukebox ... I just love my cat.
I had 2 weeks when I gained 1/2 lb then stayed the same - but the 2 weeks after that lost 1 & 2lbs. Just keep going Dolly. It could be worse - my group leader has lost 10 stones with another 5 to go!

Thank you Wendy and Jan,
Yes Wendy I sure got exercise chasing cat and mouse lol.
Jan I don't know what I'd do if he brought a rat in, I can't stand them, I'd have to get the shovel out and smash it one, they are just the pits of the rodents. And omg! at 10 stone, thats mega weight loss, she must be so proud!
Thank you again.

Have you seen Pauline Quirke now she has lost weight? She looks fabulous, I wouldn't look that good even if I lost all the surplus weight!
Dawn French apparently ate omelettes and salad and lost weigh and Nadia Swahala has lost weigh too, so if they can do so can we!
I am hovering between 13st 5 and 13 st 7 depending on time of day etc
Must remember to make that apptmt with doc for the bp machine to be fitted.
Keep up the good work Dolly and hope the cat doesn't bring in any more mice - I was lucky my cats never did that altho they did bring in a bird once which scared me as I don't like picking up feathery things if they are still alive.

Thanks Liz, Just go and get that BP monitor fitted!
I've never had a cat thats brought in live animals, my old cat I had used to kill things and dump them in the porch, but Sid just plays with everything and brings them in or into the porch, the best thing so far this year to date was an ice cream cone! :-D , usually he brings small plastic balls from the little girls garden 2 doors up, I have quite a few of those in the garden, way beyond returning as they are chewed and flat.

Good on you Dolly
I weigh on Thursdays, last week I lost a pound. We have friends staying with us at the moment and we eat out Thursday and Saturday and had more friends round for lunch, which went on all day, on Sunday. By Monday morning I had GAINED 2 lbs. Today I have lost just over one of them so hopefully by tomorrows weigh in I will be the same as I was last week!!!
Sometimes I wonder if it is all worth it but I know it is really

Well done Dolly, I am sure you will reach your goal and feel great for your anniversary.
Wendy, it's hard to be strict with yourself when eating out, I will have a lapse Sunday and Monday when we go out for my birthday with my son lol
Am chuffed tho, I went to the nurse on Tuesday and had the bp thing fitted, what a rigmarole, round my arm over a tubigrip bandage which rolled over at the top so everything was tight, there was a tube from the band which went up my arm, round the back of my neck and back down the middle of me bosom under my bra. That led to the activating and recording device in a little pouch which was fixed to a belt made of tubigrip - apparently the receptionist and doctor never remember to tell patients to bring or wear a belt! By the time I got the darned thing on I was stressed and had to drive home with it activating every half an hour. It did it often, accompanied by a beep to tell me it was starting up and two beeps when it was done. On several occasions it repeated the action straightaway - when I asked the nurse she said Oh it does that if the first reading is high, just to check. Well wearing it must have made my bp high cos it was stressful and a nuisance. At 11.30pm it went on to hourly readings, for the nighttime. I forgot to tell the nurse that my nighttime is not like hers so by the time I went to bed at 7am it was back on half hourly readings and beeps (they stop at night) Everytime I got into a good sleep (and that's not easy with fibromyalgia) the blasted thing woke me up and then when I was in a nice snooze the men from the Water company turned up to fix the hole in the road under the bedroom window, (no gardens and road is just 4 or 5 ft from the house) We have been waiting for weeks for them to do the hole, it had to be dug up, filled and reflattened etc. I got up and had to drive 5 miles back to the doc to get the thing taken off and then they couldn't upload the info and tell me anything straight away as someone else was using the room where they do it!
I asked the nurse if she had a chart to give the doc who had had such a problem calculating my weight last time. She showed me a circular thing that they use to translate kgs to stones etc and weighed me again. I must have got muddled as I am 82 kg and haven't lost 3 kg since I was at the docs and she translated that to 12 stone 7 lb. Means the doc was right and our scales are wrong, yippeee!
Obviously I still have a lot to lose, but if I can get down to 12 stone in the next few weeks I will be happy and then try and lost another stone slowly. Will start using the more modern scales when o.h. fixes them properly so they show my bmi etc and then I will get a real reading and know if I am loosing or gaining.
Have to wait now to hear from the doc and presumably go in to see him and gets medication. I just know those readings taken will be higher than is good.
I bought crispbread and avocados yesterday after the visit to the surgery, so off to have a snack now before I think about bed and catching up on some sleep.

Hi Wendy, Thank you and very good luck today with your weigh in! I hope you've lost. ( gosh you can't say that in any other situation can you lol) Its always hard to lose weight when eating out or with friends, I have found that the hardest to do, I got a booklet from weight watchers called 'eating out' it gives nearly every eatery and foods they do and how many points to count. You're doing well, you have to have some time when you gain or you wouldn't be human.
I don't want to get to the point of being frightened to eat certain things in case I gain weight, I know how serious this can all get to be so paranoid that you lose control, I have an anorexic sister, she has been anorexic since her teens, she is 43 now, she is slightly better than she was a few years back but is still extremely careful what she picks to eat to keep her weight right down.....
Liz, thank goodness you got your bp thingy done, I know its a nuisance as my brother had to wear one, he got so cross with it he took it off before he went to bed and refused to wear it, and he told the doctor as well. You weigh less than me so you can't be that big, I am only 5ft 3 inches so my weight tends to go on my legs and tummy, I don't have big hips at all so my bottom is small. I think you're doing good, just cut down on the amount you have and read labels for total fat and sugar content. Any exercise more than you did before will help, any activity you did be walking or anything similar, just do a bit more of it, it all helps to lose weight and it will definately lower your bp. :-)
Good Luck, Dolly X

Well folks, you really couldn't make it up! I had a phone message yesterday to call the nurse at the surgery, which I duly did altho it took two calls to catch up with her.
Her first words were 'I am sorry to tell you' and my heart skipped a beat, and she went on to say 'unfortunately there were only two readings on the machine! Did you have a problem with it?'
Did I heck? I told her it had slipped down past my elbow so I had pulled it back up but I had tried to make sure it was still positioned in the correct place and she said she thought I must have been one of the unlucky ones - oh yes, so sometimes they don't work properly then? She started to say I would have to try again and I told her No way! Said I would come in and get prescription for meds, can't keep faffing about like this so the earliest apptmt I can get with the good male doc is August 3rd! I will be telling him how annoyed I am that I wasted two trips in to the surgery and 20 miles worth of petrol, plus a stressful 24 hrs with little sleep, and all for nothing!
I wonder if the other nurse did something as she pulled the tube out of the gadget as it seemed to have 'worked' on many occasions through day and night - so what was it recording?
I am 5'6" tall and wouldn't mind being overweight if it wasn't all mainly round my tum, I am a typical apple shape and it's crept up to my neck too, have more chins than I used to and hate it so much. Used to have quite a long elegant neck but no more, gobble gobble lol
Anyway am still trying to eat less but well so will keep you posted on weight loss and what meds I get given.
Take care folks,
Lizx

Confession time for me. Yeterday, I bought a pack of 6 chocolate muffins thinking they would be nice when my son comes tomorrow. I thought I would have one after my dinner, but they were so nice, one wasnt enough, so I had 3. I found this morning that I had put weight on. So what did I do? I had the other 3 for lunch. I hate to think what I will weigh tomorrow as I couldnt get out for a nice long walk today. Well I could have, but it was raining and I dont like walking in the rain. :-(

Huia, LOL!!! Sounds like something I would do. Put on weight then eat 3 bags of crisps since I already feel fed up!
Dolly, well done with your weight loss. Fantastic going. I am really inspired by you!
Liz, I had one of those BP thingies for a day. It coincided with us going out with people I don't know very well so I had to wear a massive floaty number to disguise it! I found it quite uncomfortable every time it went off but it didn't wake me at all at night so I can only assume it didn't work properly. The doctor said he had enough readings to work with, anyhow, and my BP was fine - it's only in doctors' surgerys that it goes sky high!
I have been going to Rosemary Conley Diet and Exercise classes and have lost about 6lb but, like Wendy, my downfall is the weekends when we do socialise a lot and we do drink a lot of wine. And I am weighed on Monday!!! It's fatal.
I am interested to hear about the Weightwatchers eating-out guide, I will look for it on Ebay, maybe. And also knock the wine on the head, I think, as a starter. I also joined a free website "Sparkpeople" which offers exercise challenges, calorie counting and loads more. It's very American but it's great for tracking what you eat and what exercise you do. Just off to track my breakfast now!

Not looked on for a wee while.
Well done Dolly and all you slimmers. When I go on a diet I just eat lots more fruit, veg and salad. I'm fine if I stay off the sweet stuff but,if you fall into the habit again it's like starting over again. I'm a 14 but every now and then I start to creep up so I go on a mini diet. ie I'll lose about 5-8lb before I go on holiday then put most of it on again while away lol

morning everyone, Sorry not to have replied earlier, just been very busy with family and things. Huia oh lol :-0 no wonder you put some weight on. never mind we all have blips from time to time. You'll just have to go and buy some more :-)
Helen thank you, it does give me a boost when people say well done, I think I am getting there now, although I did have my first tatste of fish and chips last night, the first in over 2months! I had a small cod and chips, ate the fish and some batter but only a hanful of chips, so didn't pig out, the hens had t he rest of the chips. It was delicious!! :-D helen I have found WW this time so much easier to follow, I have tried it twice before and failed. I have also tried dieting alone at home, and doing silly fad diets, this one is the only one I have managed to stick to for any length of time. Well done with your 6lbs!
Marion, thank you for looking in :-) I do eat a lot of salad, veg and fruit, mainly because its free points on WW unless you have an excessive amount of fruit, I eat as many as 4 apples a day, not a lot of bananas, maybe 2 a day sometimes, but a lot of salad. I limit my bread as I will eat loads of it, and of course I buy low fat cheese, as that was my biggest downfall, I'd eat a huge hunk of cheese and never think how much fat was in it. I also buy WW caramel wafers for chocolate, I have 1 a day as a treat during the evening, I rather like them as they are real chocolate and not sinthetic. I hope I haven't put on through having a bit of fish and chips, I will see on wednesday.
