Thanks Barbara, good luck to you with your diet.
It's all very well going on these expensive diets but can they keep the weight off after they stop using the Lighter life etc I suppose it's harder as they are in the public eye, they are doing a tour of Birds of A Feather and should be in our area in June, my son wanted us to book up and go as we used to love watching the programme when he was living at home with me and he used to sing the theme song to me...... very emotional it was too, bless him.
Oh well, onwards and upwards, or should it be downwards with the amount of weight lol

Hi Dolly and all,
Well done for starting to get rid of the Christmas weight. I wasn't that careful over Christmas but am trying now to watch my food intake, altho I do have three boxes of chocs sitting tempting me, a big one from o.h. and a box of Ferrero Roche from his dad (he has no sense, he knew I was trying to lose weight but obviously forgot I told him last year a Boots voucher would be great and he got me one that Christmas) Then my son's new girlfriend got me chocs too, very sweet of her but am going to have to eat them very gradually, they are the Guylian ones. Oh dear!
Huia, I am sorry I didn't get back to this thread, hope the skirt was comfy and you haven't burst out of it at the hips lol I am sure you have been very careful and sensible and it still fits you. I like elasticated waists as they are so comfy but most of mine are a little loose now so I will have some sewing to do soon to tighten the elastic, will give it a little longer so I don't have to do it twice, but have to watch myself, I was out the other day and realised my skirt was slipping down, luckily I had the same colour slip underneath so it didn't notice too much I don't think, had a quick hoist when no one was about lol
Keep up the good work girls, I see Linda Robson has lost weight now like her friend Pauline Quirke. (Birds of a Feather actresses) Lizx

Well done Dolly, you must be really chuffed. I managed to put on just 2lbs over Christmas, as I was careful. but I don't think 7lbs is bad if you threw caution to the winds!! I have started allowing myself extra 'syns' (slimming world speak!) and of course I eat loads of free foods anyway, and I find the more I eat the more I lose, as long as I eat healthily. I am just a pig really which is why Slimming World suits me. By the way, be sure you measure yourself, it is very encouraging when the inches disappear. Best of luck Dolly, stick at it and you will succeed. jan

Morning everyone, I hope everyone is well and enjoying the new year.
I thought I'd better update you all on my weight. Over the Chrsitmas period I didn't diet at all, I ate everything I wanted and was prepared as I thought for the outcome, but I wasn't, it was obvious I would put weight on but it was a shock to have put on 7lbs! I so regretted eating so much wrong foods. Since the new year I lost 2lbs the first week only to put on 1 1/2lbs the following week! I just couldn't get into the swing of counting points again, so last week I thought I'd better knuckle down and start again as I still want to lose another 2 stone at least so my BMI is normal. After counting points rigidly and exercising as much as I could I weighed in yesterday and have lost 3lbs in the last week! I am so over the moon I cannot tell you, it has been a BIG boost to get this weight off once and for all. So all you people who are trying to lose a little or a lot, it can be done but takes determination. :-) I found giving up ciggies was easier than giving up eating a lot of food.

Liz, my skirts and trousers dont have buttons and buttonholes. They have elastic waists, so they do expand a bit. Even the sexy one has an elastic waist, but then it is a slim line skirt and I would put weight on round the hips, and the skirt doesnt expand there :-(
I still have some overseas cards to send. I dont think I will make any more this year, I have bought some. I also have all the NZ rellies to send them to. I wanted to include a letter with them, but unless I make it a standard one which I can type and print off then I wont be sending one as my hand hurts too much when I write. Bad enough signing the card and addressing the envelope. I must try to get some of them done tonight.

Oh thanks Huia, I am surprised you had time with all that gadding about to plan lol
I am still writing cards so people might get theirs in time for the New Year lol
Just can't get into the right frame of mind
Hope you have a nice time anyway Huia, you have several nice social things planned so I hope you enjoy them. Btw did you know if you thread an elastic band through the button hole of a skirt or pair of trousers that are a snug fit, and thread it back through itself (does that make sense?) then use the band to fix round the button hole, it gives you a little more room for goodies lol

I mighty wear the sexy skirt to our Christmas morning tea on the 19th. And to the Hospice for carols that evening. And on the 13th for morning tea at the Hospice for volunteers, and possibly to Phil's home for Christmas lunch on the 14th. but then on the 19th I might not be able to get into it unless I starve myself after the 14th. Tomorrow (Sunday) I am going to a lunch in Hamilton. I have never before had such a mad whirl of Christmas parties. BTW, Liz, I posted a calendar today, you might get it in a few weeks time. Have a happy Christmas anyway.

Oh Huia, but you were being economical by eating more than you should have at the 'after match function' You can cut back at home to redress the balance and buy a sexy top to go with the skirt, lol Now what I want to know is where are you planning to wear the skirt ?????

I went to a local funeral today and ate a bit more than I should have at the 'after match function'. These country people put on a great spread. Last week I bought a sexy black skirt at the op shop so I cant put on too much weight or I wont get a chance to wear it!

Well done Dolly, you will know when you feel right and ready to stay at a certain weight. My o.h. has lost several stones since he became diabetic and started cycling to and from work most days, but several people say he looks older and not so healthy, strange really as he was quite overweight but I too have been thinking he looks like a little old man now. He will be 58 in Feb and is only 5'5" tall, he looks really small now and because he has a knee problem which isn't fixable, he doesn't walk well either so look older than he is.
Huia, I am sure you can find a happy medium when out gadding about lol You have done well and as you say it's good to find life a bit easier when you have lost some weight.
I haven't weighed myself lately but I know that my skirts are all a bit looser round the waist so that's a start. I am eating less and still trying to eat the right things but can't resist the odd chocolate treat. It would be better for me if I could take more exercise but with my fm and arthritis I find it hard to do much more than the occasional brisk walk, and if I am with o.h, he can't walk briskly anyway, never has. When we first went out together in 1996 I would be walking at my usual pace and have to keep stopping for him to catch up lol I said he knew his place, several paces behind me lol
I think over Christmas everyone indulges a little bit but as long as we don't go mad, we can try harder in the New Year and get rid of the extra ounces.
Keep up the good work, folks

I have been happy with my slow weight loss over the past 19 months. I still have some way to go to a better figure but am certainly finding it easier to do things than before. Unfortunately this is the season for overeating :-( I went to an oldies' concert and afternoon tea today but didnt overeat quite as much as I usually do. But there are another 3 or 4 Christmas things to attend in the next 2 weeks, so will have to be firm with myself.

Morning ladies.
Margaret, sorry that life is difficult for you.. Losing your sight must have been terrible, I cannot imagine how that must be for you. I can however understand the comfort eating, I have done it for years, it all becomes a vicious circle. I haven't worked now since I was 40 due to bad health, I'mnow nearly 55, so it's been a while that I am a stay at home wife and mum. I can't say its been easy to accept having illness that gets in the way of life and how I wanted my life to be, and to date I still don't think I have accepted it, but I do know life isn't getting easier especially when I am over weight, it is restricting and making my illnesses far worse than they need be, hence the weight loss. Keep up your good eating habits they do work, you can always exercise at home be it sitting down. as long as your heart races for a while it will burn caklories as long as no more than you need is being eaten. I am sure you know all that without me saying. Good Luck Margaret, I hope you do lose the weight you want. :-)
Hayley well done! I am so pleased you like your new look :-) and are happy with your new size! Its such an echievement to succeed in weight loss, it is really hard to do but determination gets us there in the end. keep up the good work hayley, you're doing well :-)
I went for my weigh in, I have lost another 1lb so that is 27 lbs in all. I am really pleased as back in August for mine and hubbys 25th Anniversary I didn't quite make the 1 1/2 stones I wanted to lose, I missed it by I think a couple of lbs, but I am now looking at nearly 2 stone! I am going for 1 more stone and see how I look, I may do more depending on how I feel. I should be for my height between 8 1/2 and 9 stone, but I cannot imagine how skinny I would be and don't want to look ill through weight loss, I shall have to see how it goes.

Morning Everyone :-)
I am off for my usual weigh in today. lat week I had lost 1lb, so hopefully this week I'd have done well too. I am gradually getting over my chest infection, I still have a hacking cough but I must get out today, I haven't been out of the house for nearly a week! its driving me mad being indoors, although it has given me a chance to get my knitting finished. I want to go and get some more knitting sorted out today as I cannot sit down and do nothing, I also need some more library books as I have finished those too. Have a really good day all of you.

Hi Huia, well done you, I struggle to get up if I go down on both knees as I have arthritis and it hurts so I have to hold on to things, don't get down too often if I can help it lol
i really need to lose at least a stone and more but slowly will do, gives my skin time to adjust lol, well that's my excuse!
Dolly, I am sure you will show a loss next time you go to your weigh in.

Morning everyone,
Thank you for looking in and adding to my thread. I think weight problems become more so as we get older. Sorry you have lost your husband Barbara, I wish you all the best with your health and hope you can get your health problems sorted.
Well done Liz with your weight loss, I am glad your asthma isn't a chronic asthma, I've had asthma since being a baby, it is a dreadful thing to cope with when you haven't got treatment correct and things go wrong, having said that mine is pretty well under control.
I went for me weekly weigh in yesterday, unfortunately I didn't lose this week, I stayed the same :-| better luck next week.
Have a lovely weekend all of you. Take care.

Hello Liz, long time no talk. Good on you for losing that weight. I am losing it slowly. I found recently when I had been down on my knees to do something that I stood up again without holding onto anything. I did it without even thinking, so I guess my weight loss is helping, as previously I had to haul myself up by holding onto a bench or chair or some such.
In my late middle age I was using a puffer each day but I eventually decided that I no longer needed it. It is several years since I used one.
