Well done Dolly, you have stuck at it.
I have an appointment with my doctor next Weds altho he didn't weigh me before so he will have to take my word for it that I have shed a few pounds, not many considering it was in March that I last saw him and I have only lost around 9 lbs but that's without trying much. I haven't checked my bp either - will have to get o.h. to do it with his monitor over the weekend, just so I am prepared if it hasn't improved yet lol
I am going out tonight with my o.h., his sis and her hubby but we are trying out different pizza restaurants as his Dad will be 80 in August and that's the sort of restaurant he wants to visit - his wife is vegan so we have to check it all out properly.
I didn't eat out as much as we'd planned on holiday so I can be a little bit naughty tonight and make up for it next week when o.h. is on late shift so I can just cook what I want.
keep up the good work,
Lizx

Hello Liz. I havent bumped into you for a while. We wont recognise each other when we do with our weight losses although mine seems to be fairly static at the moment, if you call going up 500 gm and down again to be static. But I know I will get going down again sometime.

I too have chronic fibromyalgia plus other serious health problems. When I hit 15 stone I decided to do something about it. If your doctor has a practice nurse then they can recommend you for active life at the gym. You pay a greatly reduced rate and get a personal trainer who is trained in muscle problems. They won't push you too hard or give you any exercises that will cause you pain. I've managed to loose three stone and I feel so much better as I don't have to use a wheelchair any more. Hazel

I'm glad you're doing so well Dolly; I joined WW online 2 weeks ago and I've lost 4lb which is a bit of a result. It just seems so strange dieting and not feeling hungry :-D

Hi Huia, well done with staying static, that's something and I am sure you will lose a bit more weight soon.
Our night out was ok, interesting watching the way the local news is done and then we walked about a mile to the restaurant the others had chosen. It was a total disappointment tho, overpriced, poor service, chaotic atmosphere and a place we won't be visiting again, especially for the old boy's birthday bash! We walked back again to the car and o.h.'s sis and b.i.l. went off to get a takeaway as they were still hungry. B.i.l. put a snotty review on the restaurants facebook page and I added a similar snotty review to their reviews page. We weren't the only ones, but favourable reviews seemed prevalent, all I can say is that some people must have more money than sense to pay for the pitiful food we got. I ordered a coke, it came in the tiniest coke bottle I have ever seen and cost £1.60. O.h.'s sister was so incensed at being charged way over £1 for a splash of lemonade in her hubby's shandy when the beer was nearly £4 and her glass of wine was nearly a fiver, that she complained and got the lemonade charge refunded but we were not happy people. The meal for o.h. and me with one piece of garlic bread ( a white pitta bread) and a bowl of olives extra, and my coca cola, cost £30. I had quite a large piece of grilled chicken (supposed to be lemon and thyme but only had a slice of lemon and two sprigs of thyme laid on it lol) and mediterranean veg which consisted of a few pieces of pepper and aubergine and looked more like a small ladle portion of ratatouille (sp) and five small wedges of sauteed potato and that was around £12 and o.h. had scallopino pork with spaghetti and parmesan. Not very balanced meals and £2.25 for any side order of veg, so quite expensive really.
It wasn't a meal for a special occasion so didn't warrant being so expensive and imagine the cost if we had gone there without checking, to celebrate the old boy's 80th, it would have cost o.h. and his sisters a fortune!
Oh well at least with the small amount of food and all the walking back and forth to the car (we left it at the tv studios as it was a pleasant evening) I certainly didn't put on any weight!
Keep up the good work folks - don't forget the saying, a moment on the lips is a lifetime on the hips lol Lizx

Morning everyone, Sorry Ive not been around, I have a poorly mum at the moment.
Wendy thank you for your encouragement, I will certinaly keep adding my weight loss to this thread.
Kay , thank you and Well Done! 9lbs is so good, especially when you think of it as slabs of lard! I do that then I think how horrible it would be to add that around my waist line lol
Liz, thank you, I think you should ask your GP to get you to ring 'Why Weight' I don't know if all GP's do it, but ours does. Have a lovely meal out and enjoy.
Hazel, thank you. I had been to my GP before about my weight gain, I did join the gym under supervision, I was given a plan of exercise, it didn't work out for me, my fibro really couldn't cope with that sort of exercise, I loved it and wish it had agreed with my body but it didn't.
Fiona, thank you and Well Done! I also go onto WW online, I can add you as a friend on there if you want, we can keep encouraging each other? I do love not being hungry, thats what always put me off dieting, also the Pro Points is so easy to follow, don't you think? Good Luck with your future weight loss :-)

Dolly, I was thinking the other day that our doctors don't offer anything more than they have to - have never been offered help with weight loss programmes and had to fight for help with my ocd which was useless as there are no therapists who deal with my type of ocd in the area. When they said I needed counselling I had to find it for myself and pay too altho I get a reduced rate, it's still another expense every week.
Will see what doc says on Wednesday. We went to the coast yesterday, same place as we stayed a few weeks ago, and walked along the cliff path and through the town so I got a bit of exercise, the weather was lovely, then we stood and listened to the Salvation Army Brass band playing hymns next to the beach and afterwards, went and got cod roe and chips for me and fishcake and chips for o.h. I had already eaten a rather naughty icecream - white chocolate and Maltesers, well they are less fattening lol
I have some things I want to do in the garden this week so that will give me a bit of exercise too
Keep up the good work folks

Hi Liz, It must have been lovely to walk along the coast, we live near the coast, about 9 miles or a bit more if we want town, but we never go! I don't drive and hubby hates walking :-( I usually eat a couple of weetabix for breakfast with skimmed milk and sweetener sugar if I want it. I try not to snack between meals :-\ if I do its always fruit. Lunch is a bowl of salad with either a hard boiled egg or skinny ham, then an evening meal when everyone is home, I weigh everything! but have over the month got used to the size portions, so I eat off a smaller plate, I drink alot of water or diet drinks, I love tea but that uses my daily quoter for milk, I try to save it for a milky drink at bed time, I allow myself a pint a day. This week I appear to have stayed the same weight as last week, I don't mind as long as I haven't put any on. I have my WW weigh in on wednesday. I did have a magnum ice cream yesterday, I haven't had one in weeks! its was lovely but I did feel guilty.

Morning everyone, :-)
Its my WW weigh in day, I don't think I've lost a thing this week, eaten according to my pro points, not slipped on that but have hardly done any exercise, not felt particularly good, I think its a slow down after being away last week, got hubby to bring my rowing machine down stairs as its quite lonely rowingh in the bedroom, I can now do it while watching TV, I know I have a TV in the bedroom but its not in a position to be able to watch it while rowing, it will entice me to do it more often downstairs. I will let you know my weigh in result later today.

Sometimes when you have lost some weight the body cries 'famine' and tries to preserve all the calories you have taken in. Well that is my excuse and I am sticking to it. Seriously though, I think I have read about it somewhere. That is why it is so difficult to lose weight. We tend to lose heart when we cant keep losing it. Just persevere and it will start to come off again.

Hi everyone,
I have been for my weigh in, I have actually lost another 1 1/2 lbs! I thought I hadn't lost anything, so it goes to show I am doing something right :-)
Huia, I know what you mean, I suppose at some point I will get to a plateau where I will get stuck and weight hard to shift.
Fiona, how is your weight loss going?
Barbra, mum is a bit better, her meds need sorting sligtly, she is due her warfarin check to morrow so hopefully her GP will sort her meds.
Dolly X
Liz, how did your doctors appointment go? I hope they will give you some help and support, it seems so wrong when people ask for help they aren't given it, it takes a lot of courage to ask, but to get nothing makes it harder.

Well done Dolly.
Huia, I have read the same thing, if you eat too little your body hangs on to everything in case you eat nothing at all!! (Fat chance with me, if you will excuse the pun)
Well I went to the doc, was late and traffic was bad (my doc is near my own house and 5 miles from here but I want to stay with that surgery) Receptionist didn't say anything so I think he was running late anyway, I only had a few mins to wait before he called me in. Told him I had lost a few pounds and he checked my bp and then did it again a few mins later (told him I had been stressed by other people's driving lol) He has suggested I wear a special contraption for a day that measures my bp around 60 times at varying intervals as I go about my daily task so have to arrange that. He said You come in the morning and have it fitted and come back the next morning to have it removed and checked (you can remove it to shower if required) Well after I finished laughing - me? mornings? - he said Oh it doesn't matter when you come in, you can come and have it fitted in the afternoon and come back twentyfour hours later so that's what I will do. Then he weighed me, I was 85 kgs. I asked what it was in English and he said Oh I am hopeless at converting it, wait a mo, and he fiddled about with his phone/calculator and came up with 12 st 9lb. Now considering I have been 13st 7lb of late I was thrilled and was convinced my scales were wrong. He said I needed to aim for 12st altho 11 would be my ideal weight, pmsl He checked back in my file and said I weighed 2 kgs less than two years ago and several more than 11 years ago according to the details on my file. I suppose at that point he was crosschecking in kgs.
I got some more Adcal for the vit d as the female doc had said it was cheaper for me to buy it over the counter, but it isn't! Not the strength and with the calcium as well so he was happy to prescribe me some as he said it will help my bones as well as my hair (loss)
I got home and thought about it and checked his calculations, my delight was shortlived! He got it wrong and I do weigh 13st 7lb so my trusty old scales are pretty close. I also checked on the posh do it all scales I got my o.h. when he started weightwatching and they come up with the same answer! Means I have a long way to go to get to 12 stone never mind 11 !!!
Will have to send doc a message that he needs to print himself out a chart for others who like to know their weight in English too lol, no false hopes for anyone else!
Note to self, must try harder to eat less :>(((

Liz, I could have told him he had it wrong. I am currently trying to get under 13 stone and was thrilled when I got down to 83.1, almost there. Unfortunately the next morning I was up to 84.3. I think I must have misread the previous days weight, possibly 84.1. I wouldnt have put on 1.2kg in 24 hours would I? I dont think I ate any more than usual. (Unhappy face here).

Oh dear, us and our weight, its all such a fiddle. I went originally because I had gained an awful lot of weight and was feeling so unwell, my bp was too high, it was something like 195 over 85 which is high for me, I had my cholesterol checked after mum had her heart attacks, she has high cholesterol, so must my dad, he died from a stroke at 65, I don't want that happening, so thats the reason I went to my GP. My cholesterol was 2.3 and the bad cholesterol was hardly tracable, so I am very pleased. My GP likes us to be pretty fit if we can be and she has known me for over 20 years, she knows how slim I used to be. I know I will get there in the end, I am just an impatient person and want everything yesterday. I'm not weighing myself daily now on my scales because they obviously lie to me. :-\ I am only 5ft 3 I think or it maybe 2 now, but 14 stone was way too heavy for my frame as I am not big boned.
Liz good luck in eating less, just have a smaller plate and don't pile it high.cut out biscuits and cakes and you may lose it without too much of a change. ;-) I suppose Huia if you retain water in your body you may change a lot daily in your weight, just a thought.

Hi Dolly, Well done to you. What a great surprise to find you had lost 1½ lbs when you thought you had probably stayed the same.
I get weighed today. A couple of friends OH and I all weigh at our house every Thursday. From August to new years eve last year I lost 1st 4lbs and from then to now I have put back 4lbs. Now 4lbs isn't much to worry about but it is the beginning of a slippery slope. Exercising makes a big difference to my weight loss and it has been a bit too hot to do this lately. Now I know that this is really an excuse as it isn't hot early in the morning or in the evening!! I MUST get back on track. My husband doesn't exercise at all and has lost almost 2 stone!
Good luck Dolly with the coming week

Hi Wendy, Good Luck today and well done in your weight loss, it is a struggle, its just a complete change of eating habit, I am getting used to it, and I now recognise where I was going wrong! it is easy to slip back to the old ways but I am so determined that this weight has to come off and stay off I know I can do it, it is for my health after all, I gave up smoking 6 maybe 7 years ago this year, if I can manage that the new eating habit won't be so hard.

I think we are all doing well.
I am going into a local Boots or similar where they have those machines that print out your height weight and bmi I had one done last September and was 5'6" tall, weighed 87.3 kg and my bmi was 31.3 - the ideal is 20 t0 25 !!! Ideal weight is 8 st 11lb to 11 st !!!! I haven't been under 9 st since I was 34 just before I got pregnant with my son, who will be 29 on Sunday, but if I could get down to 12 st I would be thrilled. I know I need to put new elastic in lots of skirts etc, which is how I knew I was changing shape a bit.
My o.h. lost weight by eating differently once he was found to be diabetic but also by cycling to work and back most days. I know I need more exercise but it's so difficult, doc said I need to walk more and do it till I am out of breath! Won't catch me on a bike nowadays, haven't ridden one since I was pregnant with my daughter in 1974!
Good luck girls

Very well done Dorothy! Just to offer another word of encouragement. I love eating and hate exercise, but have lost over 2 stones since March, not spectacular but slow & steady. I go to Slimming World rather than WW, suits me better. (As you are encouraged to eat a lot!). I plan to exercise a bit more now I feel better. Only 3 stones to go!! Keep at it and eat as much 'free' food as you can, don't let your body get into starvation mode whatever you do. Jan x
