Catie, Sofia might like all foods now but that could change as she gets older. my two girls were like chalk and cheese, had no problem with daughter no 1 would eat anything you put down to her , when she was 4 she would even eat a salad sandwhich., but not daughter no 2 she was a terrible eater from day one,
she would take hours to breast feed, all day if she could she would suck and suck never seemed to be satisfied only managed to feed her for 1 month and then it was a battle to get her to take the bottle , we tried all different teats, things sort of settled down as the months went past.
Never was keen on veg. loved eggs & cheese -still does.
but she takes after her dad's side and always has to watch her weight only time she has been a size 8 and loved it was when she was so stressed last year at uni and then she was not eating properly.
Now she's more settled the weight is back on again you can't have it both ways.

There was no way you could be a faddy eater in our house as a child. You were glad to eat what was put in front of you. If you didn't eat it one of the others would.!!! When my two were babies, we always gave them what we had, put through a mulley mix( If thats how you spell it) Everything was ground down to a mush. Meat,, pots, brussels beans, you name it, they had it.As they got older they had plates of food put in front of them, and they just ate it. I think they are still the same, I know both Ros's boys, will eat anything. and I brought them up from youg children.

Fiona , i bet Sofia will need a good snowsuit for the winter up there in Scotland ,you have much colder weather than us don't you ?

I always use Red Lentils Shirley .
The chicken Soup is so easy to do ,we love it in the winter on a cold day ,we have nice crusty bread with it and its quite filling , when i make it Son always says leave some for me Mum ,but i have to leave the celery out as he hates it.

Maureen , Alfie looks so cute ,i could just cuddle him up lol

Tracey Report 16 Sep 2010 19:59

He is a right little bu...r Jane. Don't think you would want to cuddle him Mandy, he sits with me and bites any part of me he can.

Brother's friends funeral tomorrow, will think of him but couldn't go to the funeral, it's at the same crematorium as my mums, couldn't go through that again so soon.

Am off to do some more in son's garden tomorrow, need to work off some of the food and drink from last weekend !!!!

Yes Shirl, i usually make the soup from left over roast Chicken ,put the Chicken Carcus in a saucepan , cover with water and cook for half an hour ,cut up two big Onions and brown in a pan with a little oil, cut up some Carrots quite chunky and some Celery brown these too in the pan after the onions .
Strip the chicken from the Carcus and return to the saucepan ,add the Onions ,Carrots and Celery and simmer until just soft ,then add Red Lentils simmer on a low heat until the Lentils are really soft , i usually use about half a packet of Lentils in a large saucepan ,but you can see how they thicken and add more if its not thick enough ,
Don't add any salt as this stops the Lentils from softening up ,you can add salt when its cooked .
We have Crusty bread with ours ,but i have poured it over boiled potatoes to make it go further .

Jane Report 16 Sep 2010 20:32

Maureen .Alfie looked like he was doing a High 5 in one of the pics lol
I understand you not being able to go to the funeral tomorrow.
We are just wondering where Jenny's funeral will be ,as I think there will be so many people ,not just family and friends ,but from the Medical field too.
Chris said the Dr,who rang me this morning with the news asked him to apologise to me for crying on the phone.Bless him!I cried too.

Morning all
Hi Margaret Ann you were on early or was it late?
Is everybody else having a lie in.
Bright and sunny here but I imagine it will be a cold wind haven't been outside yet.

taking it easy before I go to my back class later on this morning, I know it is good to do all these exercises for my back, but I get so tired and ache everywhere when we are finished , OH sugested that I remember to take a small bottle of milk and a cereal bar with me this time as I need to get some energy back after all that exerciseing . tomorrow I'll be really sore again thats the only bit I really don't like about all this , I can hardly walk and I cannot think straight because of being so tired
I'm told this gets easier every week, 2 down 6 more weeks to go.

Babysitting again this afternoon, last time daughter no 1 goes to the job centre on a friday, she has now to go for another interview tomorrow for another job within the travel industry, I thinks she wants this job more than the Sain*bu**y one as that is what she is really interested in and her last job before she was pregnant was in Travel & tourisim

well I have an hour yet before I go out, better get on and to some housework, still got dishes to do,

BBl this evening, Have a good day.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 17 Sep 2010 10:41

Morning All,

Mum in bed all day yesterday and only had a hot choc no pills.

She slept on and off all day. In the evening at 11.15 she asked me for porridge which I made straight away and she managed half so I was satisfied she had had something. then another hot choc of which she drank half. Then she went off to sleep again.

This morning is nice and bright here with quite a bit of sunshine but still a cold wind. She asked for sugar puffs this morning and a cup of tea. She never touched the puffs but had a little tea. She is very very weak and can hardly lift herself to sit up.

May not be on here much today as will be keeping my eye on her all day. Have'nt even fed the chickies yet and have to do the library at 11.40am.

Thanks for the pics of alfie and Coco Maureen and glad you enjoyed your weekend in Kent.

Mandy I think they were snails eggs. Our lady who comes to clean has just got two or three of those giant snails from her daughters children. She went home armed with cues, lettuce and cougettes and apples for them on Wednesday. Might be giving her a bigger aquarium to keep them in as she said they were in a small tank.

Good Afternoon Everyone.

It's a lovely sunny day, but feels quite a bit cooler. My OH has been given a few weeks compassionate leave, so he's been out in the garden with my BIL, designing a quiet area in the garden in memory to Nicole. They are going to plant her favourite flowers and shrubs, install a water feature - that kind of thing. The girls have also had an input - think this little project is really helping them all.

I hope your class goes well Fiona and you aren't as sore this time. Fingers crossed that your daughter is lucky with this other job.

Mel.... Your poor mum... It must be such a worry for you. Let's hope she regains her appetite and then her strength.

Lots to do here.... Can't believe the amount of ironing that appears each and every day lol

Afternoon all,
It was really chilly when we got up this morning ,if this keeps up will have to start putting the heating on .

Hello Margaret , yes i think we all remember the old tin bath in front of the fire lol come and join us with your memories , we don't bite lol

Perhaps it will get easier Fiona as you get into the routine ,then maybe you won't be so tired and stiff .

Mel, i hope they are just Snails Eggs !! don't want any little slithering visitors thank you !!!

Catie that sounds a lovely idea of having a quiet spot in the garden , some where for the little ones to go to remember Mummy.

Went with DIL to Te*co's to buy all the food for Chelsea's party tomorrow ,my word just a few bits and pieces and £60 was soon spent !!! DIL had been to Morri*ons the day before too, to get some bits too ,so goodness knows what she's spent !!
I've got to make a Jam Sponge to take to the party , so best i get on and do that now
