Maggie's 'Christmas Story' I enjoyed every line.
I shall read it over again
with some chocolates and some wine.

Dad was rushed to hospital
He really wasn't well
Although what was the matter,
Even the doctors couldn't tell
However, he is home again,
Tho' tired and looking frail
But at least he's still around
To tell his friends the tale!


We want him to be around
Looking forward to the New Year
He will be 90 in March
We'll celebrate with a resounding cheer!

Tina, you were wise,
Not to brave the snow.
We had a few days away
but it was too far to go.
Seven hours to drive a hundred miles
I could not raise any smiles
Hours and hours without a loo,
I was desperate, what could I do.
Tried to walk to a service station
Passing cars all in a line
Another lady joined my quest
When you want to' go', you cannot rest.
Then the cars began to move,
Driving through the deepest snow
Oh the progress seemed so slow
I jumped back in and finally
Got to where I wanted to be!!
Never again!!,
'I can cope with torrential rain
But not travelling in thick snow again!
Nearly twelve hours and we reached Cornwall
We should never have set off at all.

Lovely to read all your lines
Just popping off to visit dad again!

Back again, to read your news
And to sample Ron's free booze
And Moonbi, thank you for your lines.
Amazing what can be expressed in rhymes.

Tina, I hope your family are better.
if you can't visit you can send a letter
Or phone, or text or send an e mail,
Send your good wishes without fail.

Although they are poorly with the flu
I just know that they'll miss you!

Ive had my break and here I am
ready for another year.

To all my friends who rhyme and post
I wish you well.

Have been engrossed in a book
But look
Its not the end yet I can bend
with the characters and the lines
reading late into the night.

Chrispy ! glad you survived the trip,
mine would have been 225 miles.
and if I had got snow bound as you did
there wouldn`t have been many smiles !

my family there mainly recovered.....
they ALL had Swine Flu you know.
its a good two weeks to get over it
& the nasty symptoms go.

I sent all their presents down by post,
& the parcels arrived on Christmas Eve.
a family poorly , unable to shop
saw a sight they couldn`t beleive !

I`d sent their presents, gaily wrapped,
included carckers ,poppers & such,
another box I sent held loads of food......
that cheered them up very much !

now we are in another year,
the last one went so fast,
my great grand children are such a joy
I just want their innocence to last !

Christmas was made...
(at least, for me )
when that three year old girl
saw my brightly lit tree !

& when she stood & gazed
at the candle-lit crib sight,
with eyes wide & shining
it made my Christmas night !

Crispy's father not confined to bed
A birthday party is planned instead.

A lottery win would be great to see
Yet there is no ticket in the box for me.

I see Cyper pictures on my screen
I likes before I have never seen.

My cousin is to ring today
I found him via the GR way.

The family moved when his father died
They wanted to contact but never tried.

He sent us a photo of his family
After all the years I see him in me!

How lovely Moonbi, you've found someone
I hope you'll meet and have lots of fun.

I'm afraid my news is somewhat sad
And again concerns my dad.
I found him lying on the floor
And he is in hospital once more.

Maybe not something to rhyme about
I just needed to let it out.
Dad always loves a rhyme or two
He wouldn't mind me telling you.

Chrispy, love, that is so sad,
I`m sorry for your poorly Dad,
I found my mum on the floor one day,
she hadn`t fallen, just her legs gave way,
it was the Alzheimers to blame that day.....
she forgot how to walk & her legs gave way,
she couldn`t get up from on the floor
because if she did ,she`d go down once more.
I know what you mean about the rhymes,
but we need to get it out sometimes,
you know that there are folks who care....

I know how hard it was for you.

Oh dear I seem to be full of sorrow
I'm aiming to buck up from tomorrow!
Do you remember those trips we made
How soon the memories begin to fade.

Dressing up in all our best
Dancing, singing, no time to rest.
Dorothy, Nolls and Maggie too.

Sometimes when I watch TV,
I see a place I'd like to be.
Sunflower filled fields in Italy
Or roadside cafes in gay Paree!
Or the Seychelles with a torquoise sea,
White sandy beaches where I'd like to be.
Or Alaska where glaciers glisten icily.
Is there somewhere you would like to be?

I would love to visit Venice
Drink coffee in St Mark's Square.
If I flew over there
Would you meet me there?
