snow we had, it laid for days,
it wasn`t deep & crisp & even.
it was thin & slippery, shiny too,
& so cold it took some believing !

the chill it took my breathe away,
then icy fog descended,
i wanted to drive to the shops
to buy tea bags, (on which I depended !!)

but car stayed under frozen snow,
for days I never drove it.
then Thursday I scraped & cleared it off
but it wouldn`t start ! I said *** it !!

now a new battery I have bought,
& Tuesday its a service & MOT.
THEN I have to tax it too....
all with Christmas shopping due !

But the good side is I`m mobile again,
and Great Grand Children I did see.
(almost) 3yr old Jessica leapt on me in joy
and I cuddled & fed 2wk old baby boy !! BLISS !

Hope you all are keeping warm , safe & well ,
Tina x

Hi ladies and Ron not been on here for ages
It's taken me forever to read all the pages!

Congrats to Tina, a new baby boy
You must be so proud, oh such joy

Welcome to Moonbi from much hotter climes
Hope you enjoy joining in with our rhymes

So, Chrispy I am here and Stella is fine
And we all thank you Ron, for providing the wine

I have been so busy composing poetry
and printing it out for prosperity

I intend to leave it in the attic to rot
For someone to find in the year dot

And maybe when someone is clearing it out
I may become famous...then give me a shout...lol

Tina,
how lovely to see those children
Greeting you happily,
How lovely to be part
Of that lovely family.
And wasn't the snow
So horrible and cold
I'm glad you managed to get
To where those tea bags are sold!!

Maggie I am glad you are here
Joining us for this season of good cheer
You've written poetry to rival the Bard's
While I've only written my Christmas cards!

Having seen the X factor
I will tell you all something.
How I wish and wish and wish
That I could really sing!
But my son says that my voice is flat
And I sing out of key
So sadly no one would ever
Ever vote for me!

We've had much rain for weeks and days
the floods are all around-
Cant take our stock to market
as the truck will bog in the ground.

Many have been evacuated
from inland river towns
and they wont get home until next week
to check on all the drains.

The levee holds and we are safe
within our sodden home
But many sadly arent so safe
the water rose for some.

"Whats happening to our weather?"
we ask each other now.
its hard to find the reason for
Floods in summer time

Let's find the ray of sunshine
amidst the stormy blast.
Yes, weirs and dams are full to top
since fifteen years of drought.

The season brings a blessing
to all who look for it
what ever the clime
rain or shine.

I do enjoy the fun of
rhym-ing with you all
Its nice to know Im welcome
within this rhyming hall.

I have a sweet magnolia tree
thats very green right now
It had big purple blossoms
a month ago or two ago

There is a sweet Cabernet
in the cupboard for you Ron
I wish you could enjoy it
before OH has it gone.

Maybe hold your wine glass out
So he knows that you'd like some.

Happy Christmas to each one of you
Tina, Crispy, Ron and Mag...
We would love to share a meal with you
it would really make us glad.

Christina Report 6 Dec 2010 19:29

Oh Moonbi ! that would be so good,
I`d SOOO love to meet you all !
we`d have our meal & a few drinkies too,
and talk (without rhyme!) oh ! what a ball !

but geographically we are doomed,
destined to stay apart !
how lucky we are, though, to have this thread,
where we can all have a ` heart-to-heart` !

other- half said , (with wisdom, he thought) (Ha!)
don`t send so many cards this year !!!!!!!
little does he know I`m sending MORE !!
but it`s only the postage I fear.

it`s not intentional I hasten to add,
but families grow and spread.
so you end up writing to her & them
where it was only their parents instead !

but hey ! It`s Christmas !
& a card is not much,
I write a note in each too,
keeping everyone in touch.

oops, I`m getting carried away here...
I have to stop now, see,
because it Coronation Street
next on the TV.

It promises to be exciting,
explosions, fires & such !!
so I`ll go now to watch the Box,
and later on I`ll be in touch !
Bye All !

The man in Maine
has a birthday today
thirty years of life.

He lives on the coast
enjoys lamb roast
and has a fabulous wife.

Young son starts work today
off he went with lunch, hooray
the harvest in full swing.

The rain has gone
the sky is blue
The ground is still so soggy.

Carols by candlelight
Saturday night

Best wishes
Annette

I wish that I could find
A dark corner in which to stand,
And have someone kind just like you
To gently hold my hand.

My dad is ill.
My sister said ';He won;t last til Christmas time.
Maybe it is his time to go
After all he is eighty nine.

I'm gritting my teeth carrying on
Give me a glass of wine.
Send for Ron.
I really feel I cannot cope.
But it's too soon to give up hope.

More tests at the hospital to be done.
Poor dad, it isn't any fun
Maybe they can find a cure.
I'll let you know when I'm sure.

Chrispy, how I feel for you,
I`m hoping you`re ok,
what a time for such sadness,
so near to Christmas Day.

Your poor dad, I hope he`s not in pain,
that he gently sleeps a while.
I`ll hold your hand as we stand & watch,
& hope good memories will make you smile.

Lets hope that rest & care will help,
that tests will bring good news.
but Chrispy, should this not be so,
if it is time for him to go,
then rest assured he will surely know
YOU were one who loved him so,
.............and you always will.
Peace be with you all,
Love, Tina xx

Oh my dear Chrispy
My heart goes out you
I am so sorry
that I wasn't here for you

I have found you a dark corner
where you can hold my hand
If it doesn't bring you comfort
then I will understand

Hope you do receive some good news
There may be such a cure
But maybe your Dad wants peace now
of that you can be sure

His memories will guide you
Think of his happy smile
And we all will be thinking of you
As you walk this extra mile

Maggie xx

tis hard to rhyme of sadness
tis hard to write of pain
tis hard to tell of sickness
but I will try for you again.

My heart goes out to you my dear
in hope to comfort you
but I'm so very far away
I don't know what to do

Write a letter, send my love
say a prayer each day
In hope that you will be alright
an' father's pain will go away.

we do hope you are not alone,
your sister, dad and mum
that doctors, nurses and the rest
will pamper you all some.

Chrispy,We are thinking of you
a light will carry you through

Here is my Christmas Story
I light a candle for you

Maggie x

CHRISTMAS STORY

Celestial light shone bright

Heaven had a glorious plan

Rousing the shepherds that night

In the hope of saving Man

Stars hung in the midnight sky

To show them where Jesus lay

Mary now understood why

As she placed Him down in the hay

Salvation !

So the Christmas story began

Two thousand years ago

Oh, how angels’ voices sang

Rejoice, and let the music flow

Yuletide !

Bless you Chrispy xxx

Maggie, what a lovely verse !
so right for this time of year,
I hope it warms everyones hearts
as we remember those we hold dear.

Its a time for celebration...yes,
but for rememberance too,
as thoughts go back to Christmases` past
spent with those we knew.

Then it`s time to look ahead,
to Christmases yet to come,
To Great Grand Children all is new
exciting times with dad & mum.

They ,in turn, will pass it on,
that Christmas Joy we all knew,
a never -ending story that was so
special to me, and you,

So Chrispy, chin up, look ahead,
dark days will fade in time,
I hope you can be filled with hope......
and more than a drop of Ron`s wine !

Tina x (in the snow !, who couldn`t go to Somerset with the grand- childrens xmas pressies, because of driving conditions and, even worse, because the whole family down there have got swine Flu, & are very poorly.)
