Hello Wendy.

I have just had a quick look at your thread. Too many replies to check.

I would suggest that, given the chance, you visit Glen Coe, and the Lochaber area. The area is seeped in history, and the views are breathtaking.

This lovely part of the world is reached via, Stirling, Callender,Crianlarich, Tyndrum and Bridge of Orchy. The journey itself, is awe inspiring.

I have regularly visited this lovely part of the country, since a child. I am still visiting it now, as a grandparent!

Best Wishes

Gailx

Living in Northumberland...Scotland is a usual holiday for us Northumbrians. Its not too far away.
When I was young we often went to Eyemouth. Edinburgh also.
When I was in my mid twenties a few of us went to Aviemore...high up in the mountains to ski for the weekend. Well I was crap at it but the scenary was beautiful and more so in the summer so I am told.
My oldest children went to Dumfries with their grandparents many years ago for the week.
OH has only just come back with the youngest 2 from our friends caravan up in Cumberland where they were next to the Sol whey Firth. He said when we go back up there we are defo going to Scotland for the day.
Scotland is rich in culture and has beautiful countryside.

For all you Scot ex pats Morrisons sell Scotch pie, Haggis and Baxters Haggis soup all year round. (I'm reliably informed that haggis soup is the perfect hangover cure)

Hi, oh just been reading through and read the post from Woody on Skye. It is THE best place on earth..lol. Been for the last 3 years and loved every part of it. Stayed in Glendale. If you love peace and tranquility and outstanding beauty you have to visit. The year before, staying at Poolewe, in Wester Ross, we drove to Ullapool and caught the ferry to Lewis in the Outer Hebrides, stayed B+B and then drove to Harris. As Woody says, the beaches are fantastic there. Haven't been this year as we went near Oban overlooking Loch Awe a few weeks ago, over to Mull and Seil Island. But I have missed Skye.
