Hello, Lynda:-) You all posted while I was typing. Hope you have a great weekend and come home feeling very mellow.

I can see you'll have problems with Linda, Tec. She sounds a bit too bossy for my liking. Hope you realise Linda that I'm going to be head housekeeper so I'll be in charge. I will decide on the menus for Tec and the Duchess - and for the staff. Shrinking Violet doesn't eat much:-)

The Shrinking Violet eats heaps, but, like Mrs Tec, is supposed to follow a diabetic diet. (That explains my long, early morning walks)

Talk about self pity: when I was first diagnosed about ten years ago, I was already on a restricted diet due to high cholesterol, and high blood pressure, and I thought that I'd have to spend the rest of my life on a diet of bread and water!!. Was I uprised when I found out that I was already on a diabetic diet. And its also the same diet advocated by the Cancer Council and Heart Foundation!

Good morning and evening everyone. I've been here for a while, but it takes time just reading all the posts since last night!

One question: Why are WE the upsidedowners? It's those Brits again - thinking that they are supreme! Who says THEY are the rightsideuppers? It's only because maps always have the north pole at the top of the page!
Why can't we have the south pole at the top? Then, we could be the downsideuppers (or RIGHTsideuppers). Who says THEY are always right?

You have only yourselves to blame for me being mad. It's the company I keep which has caused it!

You're a walking disaster, Allan!! My OH has high cholesterol and we've been able to control it with diet and medication. As heart problems and diabetes are in his family medical history he is very careful and has regular check-ups so we can keep on top of it.

the answer to your question is = fortunately that hasn't happened for about 31/2 yrs, and the last time I had to take time off my employer's mum and her now deceased husband who was healthy enough to help her with their son for a short time, but then he became ill with bowl cancer and after his op he was unable to help anymore, as I have not had to take time off since when I have been a bit unwell we have not had to face that problem yet. If I was unable to work the lady next door to his mum would help in an emergency and then she would have to arrange for him to go into emergency restbite.

Probably my spelling (I'm sure that someone form Oz will correct it) but a woose (wuz) is a friendly term for someone who won't try anything new...even then I'm not sure that I've conveyed the right meaning

It's a bit like someone not wishing to go swimming because the water might be cold...that person is then known by his or her mates as a big wuz!

I think that I will now go and lie down........

And as for Lynda: going of for a Spa weekend when I did offer to rent her a part of my garage, I even kicked the cat of the old chair so that Lynda could have a place to sit. Gratitude!! I will not go to so much trouble in the future!

How are we all today? Friday---woohoo!!

Speaking of high cholesterol my OH had a heart attack when he 35..So please have it monitored. Recently i had mine read and mine was fine although my blood pressure was up (which always has been). So i am on tablets to get that to a safe level. Could do with making time for exercise !!

Off to see Mum today and a bit of shopping...So have a great day all...Sleep Well Brits!!

Tec, I forgot that I applied for gardener. I think I rather like the idea of head housekeeper but why is Berona the manager? I agree that Berona would be good at the job but she'll boss us around.

Good morning Janet,

I go to the Dr's for a checkup twice a year. BP is always high on those visits. It's 'white coat hypertension' but my GP doesn't believe it even though she has sent me to a specialist on two occasions, and he has confirmed it. At one stage she increased my medicationto such a point that when I took one reading (I have a BP monitor at home) my bp was 70/50.

Tec and Sue yep you are both correct...it's ages since I heard that expression Sue
