Berona - Lynda will be lucky to be offered a bike:-) It was mentioned that we almost met last year. It was bad timing. I met 3 other GR'rs and it was my pleasure. We've kept in touch since and we count them as dear friends. Next time we go I hope to meet more - so watch out all you Poms:-)

Yes, Colin, I agree that you can have too much protection again malware, spyware, etc. I did use Spybot for a long time, but when I had a trojan last year, I found that everything I used which "quarantined" suspect programs, was being taken by Spybot (the entire system) and I even deleted them before I realised what was happening. I now use Webroot - both virus and firewall and I tossed all of the others out.

However, the poor old puter is getting on in years and has had everything upgraded and replaced, that I think the Central Processing Unit has had its day. Each 'new' thing added requires more and more sophisticated technology and the old girl just doesn't have it any more.

I mean the computer - not me!....well, maybe me too.

Gee it took me ages to read everyone's post's, I will have to start getting up earlier if you all keep that up :))

Just read in our Sun newspaper this morning that the "Kinglake Lakers" have made it to the grand final (Aussie rules football) the town was badly burnt out in our fires, but the team gallantly picked them selves up and fought on as true Aussie battlers do !! Some are still living in makeshift housing, it always makes me cry whenever I see/read anything to do with those dam fires, bless them all.

Hope they win, "GO LAKERS" Back from the black "we cant be beaten!!!

Well I'm off to do the dreaded h...work.

My gosh all these pages to wade through since I was on here yesterday. This must be the chattiest thread out of the whole bunch of cotton reels

Well back a few pages to whoever asked about Oxtail - I know it is the tail bone of the animal - but doubt if it is an ox. Osso Bucco is usually made from Veal bones - and they are up further in the vertebrae. Hey I am only being smart what do I know but I do like osso bucco when it is cooked correctly. Oxtail is done differently by the French - they keep an extra layer of ? skin or something on it but have only had that once in a French Restaurant in Japan.

I am so pleased with Kinglake - as I was there last year and I am amazed with the recoveries being made by all. I know it is so so hard for some of the people in Maryville, Kinglake etc and some of them have lost so much.

I saw a program on the box where there are a lot of people suffering over the loss of loved ones and just about losing the will to live. Sorry I get a bit maudlin when thinking of them all.

On a lighter note Tecwyn - my husband when he was a little bloke and was ill he managed to find a tin tray and took to banging it with a spoon when he wanted his mother - "she was not amused"- Just a thought might get a point across rather than playing tinkerbell.

I think everyone is in bed sleeping or going about their daily activities - never make it here for the morning/evening chat. Boy, was it chatty this morning. Everyone's fingers were working overtime on their keyboards.
Go to the gym two mornings, by the time I get home and have breakfast half the day is gone.

Diane, I am sorry to hear you suffer from fibromyalgia - my sister had it recently for the first time and said it was so painful. She took some anti-inflammatory medicine, and also some magnesium (or was it manganese?) tablets, and said that helped. I will check on the correct type and let you know. They could help reduce your pain. It's worth a try.

We live next door to a park which merges into the playground of the local primary school, and today we received a letter from the local council saying the school was proposing to opperate a local farmers market in the grounds every Saturday morning between 8am and 12noon, storeholders arriving earlier. I really hope it does not get the go-ahead as it means there will becrowds in our normally quiet little surrounding streets, most ofwhich are cul-de-sacs and usually have little traffic. These markets are supposed to be hugely popular - there is another one held ina Perth primary school - but when it is right next door to you it is a different thing. All the four-wheel drives will be jumping our footpath to
park - some do it now when wanting to visit the school. It will get a No vote from me. These things should be held in commercial areas, not residential, in my view.

There's always someone looking in on here, Carole, so don't feel you are alone. I have just been reading through - pages and pages in just a couple of days!

I've ended up with a yen for Osso Bucco. I make it with a very thick piece of veal with a bone in the middle of it. The thicker the meat, the better. Not sure where it comes from, but the meat is muscle-type. I like it at least two to three inches thick. I will have to look up my old recipes as it's years since I made it and I don't know if I make it right - but it's the way I like it!

Berona, I was thinking the same - I might make Osso Bucco on the weekend.

SusanWA you are overtaking Allan in the joke department. I hope he doesn't sulk - nothing worse than a sulking male:-)) I do see your point about the farmers' market and the parking problem. I have a friend who lives near a school that has a weekly market and she often has problems with people parking across her driveway. Now she leaves her car on the road.

Carole how encouraging for the bush-fire ravaged areas to have their AFL team do so well. I guess it's going to take a long time but these small steps help them on the way. Persephone it's heartbreaking to think of what some people have lost. I can't even begin to imagine losing loved ones in such a tragic way.

As some of you have mentioned we were very chatty this morning - 4 pages in a couple of hours. We would've made a heck of a row if we had met in a pub:-))

Morning/ Evening everyone...

Awake really early this morning...Could have joined Allan for his walk its that early!!

Been a really busy week for me and I think I had brain overload yesterday and ended up with a headache so off to bed I went...hence the early rising.

Have been on the net looking for work experience placements for my son for next term its all quite scary !! I often wonder and chat to my friends as to whether we are busier now than when they were toddlers have to say I would swap in a instance for the toddler stage any day. :) I noticed the other day they are pulling down the old building that I would take my oldest to see the Child Health Nurse that brought back some memories...

Off to work today which is always nice as I get to chat to my clients and we end up having a laugh about something that has happened during the week. The aged care sector is such a rewarding job !!

In case I am not able to get on here again this week have to tell you that my son has made the finals and that it will be played this Sunday at 11 am so send some good luck are way..I do hope they win !!

Oh and other son has his sports day on this Friday !! He is just about all the events so should come home with a few ribbons !! After I am off to Mums so we can chat as I have not been able to see her in ages...Looking forward to seeing her!!

Assessments for Tafe start next week also....ARGHHH not looking forward to that !!

Anyways I think i have unloaded enough...lol....Hope I haven't bored you with my stuff :))))

I have sacked all the staff - got rid of the lot of them. So it's just the Duchess and I, sat here in the draughty halls of the old Ancestral pile, alone.
I am therefore recruiting new staff as of today. I thought it would be a good idea to recruit from everyone who posts on this thread. You know the posts available. Janet, I got tired just reading your post. You're a busy girl. I do hope your boys do well. I was exhausted by the teen years and constantly on the go. I much preferred the time when my three were little. I knew where they were and what they were doing. Not to say I didn't keep a stern eye on them when they were teens but as they grow older we have less and less control over them. We kept our lot involved in sports and that generally tied up the weekends and two evenings a week training plus the after school jobs they had. Of course then they got their licenses and that took some of the pressure off but then there was the worry of them driving.

Nothing anyone says on here bores me - I'm a nosy so-and-so and like reading about other peoples' lives.

Diane, not that either of these reasons are valid but the term Pommy was thought to be either an acronym for 'Prisoners Of Mother England' or the fact that when the English arrive in Australia they go red in the harsh heat and the term was a contraction of pomegranate as they resembled that fruit.

Persephone, If I remember my mythology you are correct in saying that you are way down under...wasn't it Hades? :))
