Hi SueMaid, Diane, Allan, Tec, Barbra, Linda, Berona, Carole when she comes on and anyone else I have missed,

Diane - ironing? What is this thing called ironing please?!!!! Okay, yes, I do the ironing - but only the fronts. Ahem.

You have a difficult task ahead of you Berona and even more so when there are language barriers. Good luck with it.

I shall now say something "shades of Allan" - Linda, do rest up *watch* yourself.!

Yep Tec, I'm full of glee today and if I don't wash the dog, I'll be full of flea also.

Allan

Allan Report 17 Oct 2009 23:26

Sorry, Linda, I couldn't resist it!

OK Diane. It's a pity really as we are having a special on accommodation costs this week, and we don't overcharge for meeting people at Perth International Airport.

Linda, My last house was surrounded by huge sycamore trees, the leaf fall was a nightmare, especially after prolonged periods of rain, but ifleft the lawn was wrecked. Next door neighbour had one of those suction things that ""hoovered them up, but was not very good at it.

Allan, Petrol lawns are the latest thing in the UK, you dry the mowings, stuff them into the tank, and away you go.........50mpg..........

I've been getting a lot of compliments but they all lead to the fact that I should be the one to do "the dirty work"!! Believe me, I know when I'm being conned!

Just keep talking so that I can take my mind off it all until it happens.

Alternatively Tec, you just fill the petrol can up at the garage

Allan

Allan Report 17 Oct 2009 23:33

Hello Alison....rofl

Tec, the youngsters here stuff themselves with Grass and then go hurtling off, and usually take a couple of tablets for more speed.

Barbra, I refuse to believe that you have a prickly exterior

G'Day Alison,

Better wash that dog quick, can't have you running about scratching all over the place, bad for you image.

I am glad you are full of glee today, stay that way. Beautiful and gleeful, who could ask for more?

Berona, you can always console yourself with the knowledge that no one else wanted to do the dirty deed and all thought you were the most capable.

Tut, Allan, I didn't think that you would know about illegal substances.
Actually with all the drugs mum had at the end, we could have made a fortune selling them in the town, but we were good people and handed them back in to the chemist

My apologies, I've just gone back to some earlier posts and you asked if I had seen the link for Howard and Marina

I hadn't but will search for it

Berona,
It must be our faces, not that I'm insinuating your face is anything like mine you understand.
But it was my experience when I was involved with various organisations, that if anyone had to be "spoken to" it was always me that was elected to handle the situation, however unpleasant.
Then when a member of the Royal Family was attending a certain function, guess who was elected to escort that person around on behalf of the organisating?
On the basis that "You do it so well" rubbish and stuff, and yes, people like us get conned into handling difficult situations, because others can't or won't. Good Luck with your lady, I feel sorry for her too.

OK, this is driving me nuts.Where on earth was my great Aunt Florrie in 1901 and 1911? She never married and spent most of her life living with her unmarried sister. I have spent hour after hour trying to find this elusive ancestor.

I actually have a battered old pan which belonged to her, my mum used it as an egg pan. As Florrie was born in 1879, it seemed a shame to let it go out of the family

Berona

Berona Report 17 Oct 2009 23:46

I still think I was conned, Allan!
However, I hadn't seen the lady for months - in spite of the fact that we share an adjoining wall - and she seemed to be hiding from us. This, after being such a nice, friendly person. Others had tried to knock on her door, but she either didn't answer or wasn't home - so it was a pleasant surprise when she knocked on my door and thanked me for my invitation.
This makes me hopeful. (fingers crossed)
