Happy birthday Daff's Mum!!
Hope you have enjoyed your day, the sun has shone here too, in fact it has been gorgeous and we had a lovely day. Drove across via Selsey common and Cotwold edge to Westonbirt (near Tetbury for those who don't know the area. The Cotswolds looked beautiful in the sunshine which really shows up the colour of the Cotswold stone cottages.
We had coffee as soon as we got there sitting outside in the sunshine and it was really warm as it was sheltered from the slight wind. Then we walked round the Old Arboretum and admired and photographed the Rhododendrons, Camelias and magnolias. The latter are going over a bit now but there were still some in full bloom. And underneath was a carpet of wild flowers, primroses, wood anenomes, bluebells, violets and many others. As we walked right out to the end we lost the young families and the paths were really quiet except for the birds singing, it was beautiful.
We had a picnic lunch and then another short stroll, a look round the shop and then made for home again through the cotswold lanes. We had a bit of a chuckle on the way, we pass a gliding club and about a mile away from the club we spotted a glider which had landed in a field of some crop or other. The pilot was on his mobile and we could imagine the conversation!!! (" Erm, I am afraid I have got it wrong!!! could somebody pick me and the plane up please!!!")
Anyway, then we called in at a garden centre for a cup of tea and to buy another barbecue cover as the fairly new one we had was letting in water. Got home about 4pm a lovely day.

Hi Daff, I hope you are having a lovely day at your Mum's. Also hope that your Mum has enjoyed her birthday.
I know what you mean about your husband not seeing cobwebs or dirty windows. I have one just the same, doesn't seem to notice that these things need doing, otherwise he is really good.
As you say Daff, he is your rock and has kept you going through a very difficult time.
I am so pleased that you are feeling better, and managing to do some things now. As long as you take it slowly - you know what they say "slowly but surely".
I'm very pleased that Taff has started a new thread for you. Lets hope that this one doesn't get deleted - third time lucky.
Enjoy the rest of the day, and your Dad's homemade bread.
My best wishes. Sallie.

Cobwebs? They only bother me when they get so full of dust that they sag on my head!
Dirty windows? A lot of it is from squirting the flies with the bug bomb (on the inside) and dust blown up from our unsealed road by all the traffic we get in the summer (on the outside). It must be about a year since I washed the windows and I am going to be too busy over the next month or so to do them, though I might ask OH to do the inside today as it is too wet for him to go out in the garden. Lovely rain, we have needed it, and it keeps the dust down on the road.
Huia.

Hi Daff and all, glad you can get out and about a bit more now and hope your Mum enjoyed her birthday. Got o.h. at home for two days this week as short time at work, so am not looking forward to it, won't be able to get online until he goes to bed or goes out lol I think he might even be doing some more towards finishing the bathroom, do you think it will get done before it's second birthday of starting it all lol, it's only a tiny space, no room to swing a cat but you would think from the fuss he makes it's huge! Oh well I suppose today or tomorrow I will get dragged round b and q or somewhere similar, to look for the rest of the stuff we need to finish it off! What fun, not!
Hope your week goes ok with R back to work, don't do too much too soon, the dust will be back before you can turn round, hardly worth bothering to clear it away lol
love Lizxxx

Morning everyone, Daff
Had such fun last night in Greeeeeeeeeeece Lightenin', Jen was a fab dancer, Stevie ... well I was never quite sure which role he was playing! Was absolutely shattered, such a late night but did I laugh, I did, for hours I think. :))
Oh Maz, I had to wash our sofa's down. Cass when excited will bound in from the garden, leaping over the furniture and bless ... it was meant to have muddy doggy pawmarks it would be fashionable; alas it is not! It's usually when my son has been away then returned, not all the time although he still digs holes to Oz lol.
Belated Happy Birthday wishes to your mum Daff, so hoping you had a lovely there. :))
It was an absolutely gorgeous day again yesterday. Went for a walk, pottered around then planted out some new tubs I bought last year but never used, they're brimming now with Lobelia, Impatience, Petunias and more.
Many years ago before I discovered a passion for gardening, I took my auntie a plant from my garden ... oh the look on her face, I shall never forget it lol! Twas one of the worst ones I could have given her ... suffice to say it went straight into the bin and she bought me my fist gardening book! wmsl
I am pleased to hear you're feeling a bit better my friend, truly I am.
Long may the good weather last, have just had the most pleasant surprise. When our son was little we used to visit Penscynor Wildlife Park; I've just discovered it's still there, had thought it had closed ... oh we had such fun there feeding Joey the Toucan and more.
Oooh, just been googling ... have found our favourite restaurant, The Castellamare overlooking Bracelet Bay and ... although I've been visiting since I was 12/13, have never been to Aberdulais Falls. Not sure why, we've been to Cardiff Castle, Margam Park, Tenby, have family in the Black Mountains, tis now at the top of my list of places to visit.
Best get on, one load dried, another ready to be dried, going for my walk and more.
Have a good day everyone :))

Morning all... overdid it a bit yesterday, all that visiting and talking, lol!! I stripped the bed first thing..... R helped me make it back up before he went to work, bedding is now fluttering merrily on the line.. that was hard work, and I was surprised at how out of puff I was by the time I had unravelled it from the washer and man-handled it to the line..... my excuse is that it is super king size!!
It looks like everyone had a lovely day yesterday.. I even went for a walk with my sisters, and one of them took her dogs.... poor things couldn't understand why she kept pulling them away from me... they are used to me playing and making a fuss of them, so were slightly bewildered at first!! But they are huge creatures... Cindy could lick my face from a standstill... Rottie/mastiff cross... and Chiefie has springs in his legs so is not normally far behind... he is a boxer. And I still have to be careful with dogs especially.
Came back here, did a bit of planting and watering while R cooked dinner, sat outside all civilized with a glass of J2O... but frozen, lol and wrapped in a duvet!! I still feel the cold very badly!
I had a very restless night last night..... a menopausal night, lol, hence the changing of bedding this morning... and I am now ready for a nap!! I'm not even out of my jim jams yet, lol!! 3 of the four cats are curled up on my bed... think they have the right idea. Jethro is exhausted.. he has been fishing in the stream at the back, and has brought in some baby eels... brain not working so can't remember what they are called... elveretts or sommat? Don't think he understood why I was squealing... mice and watervoles are one thing, but live eels?? yuckety yuckety yuck.
Ann, I know the area well... used to have a lot of work around that way.. erm, I am not good with heights, so had to go up one way and down another so my car was not on the edge, lol.... what a wimp, all that beautiful scenery, and I never could fully appreciate it.
Jen, we have two buzzards... well I think they are buzzards, fly around on the thermals here regularly... one of the reasons I had the glass roof instead of perspex on the conservatory... it is wonderful to watch them!
Joan, I have a second load in the wash... spare bedroom bedding... but think it can stay there until R gets home, lol
Jude.. that is some sewing to do!! When is the party? Sounds like it will be good fun!! My sash would still be extra large, even though I have lost a few stone, still a few more to go when I get around to it, lol Hunky landscaper will be here 10th May.... looking forward to it, lol
Hiya Joy... it's barely slipped, lol... all the nurses would introduce me to new staff or refer to me as the lady with the huge smile, lol It's been a bit strained at times... but not slipped!! Hope all is well with you?
Taff.... don't keep us all in suspenders..... who is it??? Newport? Julie Ann?? Howie??? Please do tell!! Have a lovely time, whoever it is ~~~~~~~~
BC, glad your hands are getting better... how did your hair turn out? Was it better with him sober or will you let him have a wee dram first next time, lol? Oh... and promise I won't do too much... am going back to bed for a long nap in clean sheets.... I love being the first to snuggle down in clean sheets!!
Hiya Maz.... it is far too nice to spend the day on chores... go get your cozzie on and sunbathe in the garden... well it's what I would do if I wasn't feeling the cold so badly, lolol
Huia.... the cobwebs have been there since last spring, lol.. they are making new ones now, so I need to get rid of the old ones.. and doesn't the sunshine show them up? lol Hope you are well?
Lol Liz... R is almost as bad!! Hope you have a good week.. if I lived nearer, I'd go to B & Q with your OH to give you a break.. I love it there, sad I know!!
Hiya Shimms.. yep, I know what you mean.. sofas, carpets and all the bedding in this house is cream... and I have four felines who walk all over it, muddy pawprints do so show up, don't they? My next carpet is going to be mud coloured.
Hello mamiddau, lovely to *meet* you.. I am really looking forward to it, some people I have already met before (if you haven't met Mad Moo, then make sure you have ear plugs.... she talks a lot. I don't... very quiet, me, lol) and others I haven't had that pleasure yet... it will be a brilliant day.... I have got my cauldron out ready, and am casting spells for lovely weather!! ;¬))
Morning Sallie... I am resting up a bit as I overdid it a bit yesterday... and R almost didn't go to work today cos I had a bad night last night.... so I had to promise to take it easy, lol.... he always knows if I am fibbing to him, so I shall have to keep that promise!!
To everyone who has wished my mum happy birthday... you made her day, thank you!! She was thrilled to bits! I will show her when she next comes to visit... she thinks the internet is magic!
Love and (((hugs)))

Hello Daff, so glad you are getting about, and yes, you must be exhausted, but pleased at making the effort.......glad your Mum enjoyed her birthday and you are getting some warmer weather at last.....
......you have to what??........ wait until the 10th May to see the eye candy again......why, that is 30 whole days away........can't you take some secret photos to look at.......lol.....
......sorry Mr. Daff, only joking..... I hope the garden is looking a picture, and May is coming up and I think it is always the best of months, bringing out all the greenery and flowers.....
