Perhaps they tell us these thing to keep us safe, to protect us, provide a 'safety net' for our emotions.

Tis so clear that you were wanted, cherished and loved like many here, have happy childhood memories without any guilt.

I always carried guilt, tis only recently that I understand it was not my fault, I was a child. I have never hated my BM, used to try to rationalise why and how she could have done such a thing; when I held my baby in my arms, I stopped making excuses for her for I knew that when my baby cried, my heart belonged to him, that I could never abandon nor neglect him.

I forgave her a long time ago, I just remember so that I will never repeat the cycle and you know, seems to me that everyone here should hold their heads high, all 'circles' have been stopped and everyone has done so well. xxx

Oh honey, my condolences, thinking of you and your friend at this sad time, can't imagine what it would feel like to lose my son, my heart goes out to her, it truly does.

home from work so I popped in to see all is well, yes Shimms it was hard to be at my friend's son's funeral he went to school with my youngest son who is the same age 24.
very happy to keep an eye on the thread, kept checking to see if anyone needed are support before I went to bed.
Shimms going to reply to my new found sibling, the one we spoke about the other day, will let you know how it went as soon as I know, wish me luck and say a prayer or two for me that it turn's out for the best

Hi everyone,
I had no feelings one way or the other towards my BM.Just curious as to why I was adopted.Probably because I had such lovely adopted parents,I had no reason to feel angry .When I see how my siblings had to grow up in care,it makes me realise how lucky I was .In one way I am glad I didn't get the chance to meet her .I think I have already said this before but non of my siblings were given any answers as to why they were in care or who any of the fathers were except for 2 sisters whose father was the milkman.So I would not have had an answer either.I have been given a couple of photos,and I am happy enough with that.

Tis such a glorious day here, was having probs going out for quite a few months ... taking it one day at a time, have such a dear friend holding my hand helping me, other friends here for me on GR, am lucky ...

Have been out again shopping (dinner) + posted a letter.

Pots, tubs and hanging baskets are being created my moi with Portacula, Impatience, Nemisia, Petunias, Lobelia, Alysum and more. OH and my son have returfed the front lawn, my palm trees are shooting up and dear sweet Cass is still digging the back.

Have drawn up a design where he'll be able to play and we'll have a garden lol.

Yes, we are lucky we came out stronger, determined not to let the circle repeat itself, others are not so lucky. Life isn't always easy but I do know one thing, everyone here ... whether in Care, in a loving family adopted, at home ... everyone has done well. :)) xxx

Morning Shimms and everyone - thanks for the lovely excitment bursts and the champagne which I will 'share' with my sister........actually it will probably be a gin and tonic..........but who cares. Thanks to everyone else for their messages storming into my in-box...............
Never give up hope - its been forty years since I knew I had a full sister - that is not to 'diss' the lovely 'halves' that I, and many other people have as well.

Hope you will be able to get out and about more and more Shimms and be able to enjoy the spring and summer weather.........if we get it.......it has been wonderful down here in Cornwall, the banks are starred with primroses and violets, and many other flowers and blossom. Last night we had rain, very heavy, and one day last week also......but generally have been enjoying a dry spell.
Has anyone seen Dorothy lately.........I will e-mail her, perhaps she is not 'lurking' at the moment.

My sister and I will meet soon, I will let you all know...............

Come back and give us all the details, :O) when will you meet up ? have you got over the shock yet ? which one of you is the oldest adoptee to find BF ? you or Dorothy ? ( not seen her much on the threads lately but maybe she is in the background like I normally am :O)

I met mine after nearly 51 years, not the same though, only discovered I had other sibling in the last few years.

Am off to Wales tomorrow ... tis a huge step for me, it was a tough year and something happened, a form of agraphobia I think, came out of nowhere.

A dear friend has so been there for me, encouraging me to open my front door, step in the garden. It's taken time, a few steps forward, a few back too yet tis my Uncle's 90th birthday tomorrow. He's like a second father, we will be gathering, going out to celebrate.

Very nervous at the moment, butterflies in my tummy lol.

Uncle had a wonderful birthday celebrated with cakes, champagne, a special meal as a family with a birthday luncheon in one of our favourite restaurants overlooking a beautiful bay where we were able to see Devon, twas such a sunny, calm day.

Met up with friends, visiting waterfalls I never knew existed. Gosh, have been so close to them visiting other places through the years yet this was my first time seeing them. Aberdulais Falls which used to be a tin mine, MelinCourt Falls, so much more.

Oh Diane, I am sorry your lead was a dead-end, yet as you say, so good that the other person replied.

Crossing my fingers that soon, very soon you will find your half-brother. xxx

Where's everyone gone?
Just because are thread poster is no longer around does'nt mean we can't talk to each other any more.
I still haven't been able to contact my half sister who I found through GR but for some reason deleted her tree, but I am hopeing I can find her another way. I have a phone number and an address in her initial and surname in the area she live's but up to now I have'nt had an answer when I rang the number, but I'm not going to give up. I also have my BM phone number and address, I know they are the right one's as my new found uncle who i'm in touch with gave them to me and i'v also checked with directory inquiries on the name and address and they are the same.
I am not ready yet to take the next step, which is to write or ring her but hopefully I soon might take the plunge I'll have to give it a great deal of thought.
Well that's enough from me at the moment, I hope other's will come back on this thread soon as I miss the company of you all

You are right Shimmer would not want this thread to die of , just because she is not with us, the whole idea of this thread was to offer help and support to each other, :O)

If you send me you sister info by pm I will see if I can check the details for you and see if it is the right one, with regards to your BM only you can tell if it feels the right time for you to make contact with her, I do not know what the details of your situation are, or what the reasons may be for holding back, but can your Uncle offer you any info about your BM's situation ?
