Helen in Kent

Helen in Kent Report 29 Jan 2009 16:14

Well! Self control has not been too good for a while but last week I lost 2lb and this week so far another one so I am feeling a bit more upbeat! Just off to do a Rosemary Conley workout now (yawn). In the past , after a few weeks, I actually enjoy the workouts but I haven't got to that stage yet. Never mind, the bikini beckons.

Well done Helen in Kent, and Theresa for your weight loss, and to everyone else who is trying hard.

Tina~j-I hope your neighbours have got good earplugs-lol-not really,it's great that you're having fun while you work out,and look forward to each session. Twins???? Errr- Maybe???

I measured myself out of curiousity as I wasn't very happy with my weight loss. The tale of the tape is much better-over 2 weeks I lost 1 cm. from my waist, and a whopping 8cm. from my tummy (bellybutton measurement).
WOOHOO!!!! All the daily walking, doing the Plank exercise and the Ab King Pro are paying off,I feel a lot more positive now.You really do have to look at the whole picture, and not focus on those rotten scales!!!

Good luck everyone, keep focused, and if you have a temporary setback, just ignore it,and keep trying!

Margot.

Blackrose

I would say 6 miles a day is quite a lot. As long as your food intake is lower than what you need to survive & its healthy eg low fat you should lose weight. Remember muscle is heavier - are your clothes feeling looser?

MargarettawasMargot Report 2 Feb 2009 05:35

Thank you,Penny, well done! Keep it up!

Blackrose-Maybe you need to vary the type of exercise you are doing to
kickstart/shock your body into losing those extra pounds. They always say-
if it's not working,change it.That's what I would do.

If you're eating healthy, nutritious unprocessed food (fruit and vegies, lean
meat, nuts etc.) the weight should fall off you!

I've just been reading that these foods will help strip the weight off-
green tea, cocoa, red grapes, red peppers, and a tiny amount of cinnamon and turmeric daily-half a teaspoon from memory.Another tip was to eat
some nuts 20 minutes before a meal-4 walnuts,or 12 almonds,or 20
peanuts, unsalted I presume. They all contain the "good" HDL fat, and will
help take the edge off your appetite,so that you eat a little less.
Good luck!

Tina~j-Maybe we are twins-I too had a degree in emotional eating sabotaging my weight loss.I've done 2 things to counteract it- so far, both have worked.
1-I have asked my Dr. to prescribe me Duromine weight loss tablets.I have a BMI of 31,so it's allowable, apparently.I take 1 tablet every second day, which stops the food cravings and emotional eating which sabotage the weight loss.It also gives you a little more energy, which is great for exercising.Duromine was a last resort,it works well.
2-I listen to Paul McKenna's weight loss CD-brilliant! When I find myself doing the wrong thing,it kicks in like my conscience, and I hear his voice in my head telling me to do the right thing-works every time! eg if I'm hungry,
and starting to bolt my food,I hear his voice saying,"Enjoy every mouthful.
Eat your food slowly, put the knife and fork down, put the sandwich down,
but enjoy ...every.... mouthful.... so I go,"Oh yes-oops! "and do it.It really
does check those bad habits! Works for me,too!
You do what's right for you,but I hope this helps.

Good luck,everyone.

Well done Charlie - any tips to share on how you did it?

I am the same Theresa with the weekend.

I have asked OH not to offer me chocolate or tell me that a box/bar of chocolate is open. I have a box of Lindor by my bed which i got for Christmas. I m not tempted until it is opened !!!

Hi everyone, you all seem to be doing so well, losing lots of pounds and inches.

I still have not been tempted into having any sweets, chocolate or cakes, they were even trying to give away Thorntons toffee when I went to Manchester the other day, my daughter gave me a very surprised look when I said no thank you, was really pleased with myself for refusing.

The first week I lost 4lb, second put one on, third lost one and last week I stayed the same, cant seem to get going although I am doing everything right, I do feel that my clothes are slightly more loose on me though so something must be happening.

It is weigh day again tomorrow, so we will see what the scales say then, and if I havent lost anything again, that chocolate will be so inviting, but I will resist. Wonder if I can be hypnotised and when I wake up I will HATE chocolate.

Anyway, good luck to everyone, keep up the good work.

Marilyn

Eat chocolate the Paul McKenna way - just pretend it is covered in hair from the floor , worms, slime etc - puts you off :-))

tinaj Report 6 Feb 2009 09:49

Well done everyone - there are lots of lbs and inches coming off. Marilyn, I know how disappointing it is when the scales don't move, but looser fitting clothes is really what we are all after. Have you tried measuring yourself and keeping a note of it to see how many inches / centimetres you are losing? Rosemary Conley recommends taking loads of measurements - chest, waist, hips, widest part, arms, thighs and knees! It does lift your spirits when the scales don't seem to move.

I have had a much better week - 3lb off, making 6lb in total. The diets is not quite so hard now - the carb cravings have gone, so I don't want biscuits / cakes etc. Chocolate is the difficult one for me (like everyone else it seems!) but I find that the Weight Watchers frozen deserts (like double chocolate brownies) do the trick very well! They are fairly low calorie but feel very indulgent.

Discoburn aerobics is still enjoyable, and I can feel myself improving. I have even taken up Squash again after many many years of not playing. My eldest son is 14 and loves racquet sports and we have decided to make a regular Sunday morning date of it. At the moment I have the edge with power and technique, even though he is much faster and more agile. But he is ultra competitive and it won't be too long before he is able to wipe the floor with me!

Good luck everyone and keep up the good work

Penny, it would take a lot to make me not fancy chocolate, but I will give it a try.

Tina, I did weigh myself again today and have stayed the same again, although I was convinced that I would have lost, my jeans feel slacker on me (I need a belt) and I have lost a bit of my stomach. It still would be nice to see the little dial on the scales coming down as well.

Think I may have a treat night, one night a week treat myself to a bar of chocolate of packet of mistrels or something, it would be something to look forward to once a week.

Mmm I can almost taste it, its like that advertisement, do you dream in chocolate.

Keep going everyone, keep up the good work.

Hi all,

Lost 4lb this week, God knows how but I did!

12th Jan ~~ 12st 7.5lb
19th Jan ~~ 12st 2.5lb
26th Jan ~~ 12st 2lb
2nd Feb ~~ 12st 1.5lb
9th Feb ~~ 11st 11.5lb

So thats 10lb in 4 weeks. I was about to lose hope but I realised I always struggle to get down below the 'current' stone marker!

Hope everyone is well!
