By the year 2010 we are all out of IP addy........so they are working on a new system to use more numbers ......but the computers still ....in a way work on 1000111001010100001 but we have fooled the systems into thinking that 6 is 1110 and so on .....but soon all numbers will be used ............

like c = 1000 x = 2000

so to shorten the address cx10011 ?

TonyW

TonyW Report 16 Nov 2008 21:44

And that was in English?

It's actually quite simple and straightforward.

A IP Address is the unique 32 bit number assigned to each computer connected to the Internet and used by the TCP/IP protocol to route packets of data to their destinations. The number is usually written in shorthand "dotted octet" notation in which the 32 bit address is grouped into four sets of 8 bits. Each of those eight-bit sets is converted into a decimal number, and the four resulting decimal numbers are written separated by dots.

Some are fixed, some are not.

Thats about it Tony W are you working on the new system to .........??

TonyW

TonyW Report 16 Nov 2008 21:49

Well mine actually routes through Algeria, via Asia, stopping off in Japan, Australasia, Hawaii and the eastern seaboard before getting to it's destination.

KempinaPartyhat

KempinaPartyhat Report 16 Nov 2008 21:51

Mine aint that clever ......sadley ...wish it was !! ...LOL........................

so tell me why people think that if they get your IP addy they know where you are !!?? and can tell the police and lawyers ??

peppi

peppi Report 16 Nov 2008 21:52

so what is the debate about ?

TonyW

TonyW Report 16 Nov 2008 21:55

99% of IP addresses are immediately traceable unless you actually go out of your way to alter your routing.
