I blame the menopause on everything!!
Mum was always saying she had no money in her purse even though we knew she had several weeks of pension money somewhere.
When my sis and I had a little look .We found £200 in an old family bible,£100 in her jewelry box and £20 in the back of a photo frame!!!!!!!!!!

It's mad isn't it. Me and my daughter and sister in law are going to have a day sorting her cupboards out. just a case of when.

It's really scary when your an old women.
I'm bereft. I hate being stranded like this,
I want to be in the middle of town.
But i have no money to speak of,
and i don't know how to get away from here.
I can't open it! The door won't open!

I shall have to grit my teeth and walk like hell.
And it's cold out there without a coat.
How stupid i didn't think of this before.
I've never been in such a situation.
I've missed buses, but this is different.
This door won't open! And that's another!

I didn't expect this predicament. Well, if i'm stuck
I'll just have to ask them for a bed tonight.

Don't apologise Bambi That is how it is.Sadly.I often have a few tears,when I think of the daft things mum did,cos it just wasn't her.

Helen your mums still there she just percieved things differently to us - she is still mum x

One of the funniest things my mum did(sadly) was when my sis and I took her out for a meal one evening.We noticed she had her nighty on under her clothes (but that is by the by).She suddenly said she was really tired ,and folded up her coat ,made a pillow out of it and stretched out on the seat to sleep.Some chap was making a noise chopping up onions or something in the kitchen,and she popped up and shouted "will you keep the noise down ,people are trying to sleep here"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!She then went back to sleep.My sister and I carried on eating our meal.Not sure what the other customers made of it.lol

It sums it up doesn't it. If we can see how hard it is for them iagine howthey feel in their good moments?
I have cried with my Mum. I was up last night from 4 until 6 when Mont got up for work. Just crying and laughing at whats happened this week.
This thread has given me great comfort we are not on our own. Thankyou xx

I do have a delicate question, How do I sort out the problem of her soiling herself? sister in law just phoned she called in on Mum after kids left school and Mum had pants and dressing gown and nighties hung round living room fire to dry but still marked. I have asked her for all washing.

unfortunately dementia still has a bit of a stigma attached to it, a few of years ago we took a group of dementia clients to a hotel for lunch when one of our ladies decided to go walkabouts so i spent some of my time chasing her bout trying to encourage her to sit down and eat these are the sorts of things you remember, it doesn't bother me what other people think at the end of the day. I love taking our residents out and seeing them have a nice time

Does she actually realise she has a problem soiling? Does she have anyone going in eg nurses other than you or Sis In Law?

Not sure if she really acknowledges it Helen. I keep buying new knicks and nighties and she says she has loads what you buying them for. Mum sees consultant on 17th Dec and I know he will be angry that SS have not followed up our request for help. I think he will sort it for us now. I have diary of everything thats been happening.
I have thought of one reason for the soiling, that is these tablets she says she is taking could be laxatives(do not know where from) as she has missed her ones in the daily dosage box again! all the night ones are still in it. says she's filled it herself, again. She can't I have them all.I ring her every night at 9 to remind her to take pills and she says she'd doing it. I am not physically able to get to go round even though she is only 5-10 minutes away.

She doesn't sound as though she is reliable to take her tablets on her own.When I stayed with my mum once we all went to bed ,and I got up up to check she had taken her anti depressant.Oh no she said I don't think I have .So I saw her take it ,went to bed and then a couple of minutes later I heard the foil pack going .I went in and told her she had taken her tablet.She got into bed and 2 minutes later I heard her tablet pack on the rattle again.This happened 3 times before I took tabs away from her so I could go to sleep.We had to arrange for someone to go in every day to give her tabs as she could easily overdosed.Do you think your mum has taken too many of her laxatives??

NO! It's not. She had her knickers hanging from ornaments on the mantlepiece! Sorry had to laugh at the thought of that.Teresa moved them to the airer near a radiator for safety. It's an electric fan fire blows out at the top from under a canopy so clothes can't get near any elements. Council have just fitted it and replaced all the boiler and Rads.

Don't think she's taken too many she seems to take something on Thursdays and Saturdays so am thinking it might be something she has always don to keep her bowels open.
Her daily ones are in a daily dosage box and so far has never taken too many of them onkly missed them..
