Annoying all these diff spelling..I guess it down to the fact alot of folks back then had little education and so spelt names etc as they sounded. |

I believe my grandfathers middle name to be a surname passed on through. As its not a normal middle name as such..its def a surname. |

I think I may have found Richard Cox in the 1851 under Richard Cook in the workhouse in Southampton. Date of birth and place and occupation (shoe maker/cordwainer) all match. |
