Heather Report 13 Apr 2008 18:00

A member sent me a link which at first I thought must be a sick hoax, but I know this person would have authenticated the matter and indeed has assured me they did. I have since heard from others involved in dog rescue that this is genuine. If you google this persons name you will see it is fact.

"In the 2007, the 'artist' Guillermo Vargas Habacuc, took a dog from the street, he tied him to a rope in an art gallery, starving him to death.

For several days, the 'artist' and the visitors of the exhibition have watched emotionless the shameful 'masterpiece' based on the dog's agony, until eventually he died."

The photos that were attached to the information are horrific. It made me feel physically sick - even more so that middle class people were standing around drinking wine and eating canapes while the poor dog lay starving and tied up in the gallery dying in front of them.

This person has now been invited to repeat the "art exhibition" in a Central american gallery. We cannot let him do this. PLEASE go to the link and sign the petition. Over 2 million have already signed, if each of us sign and send an email to say 20 each to sign then within a short time we will have added hundreds of thousands of names to the protest.

Click on the folowing link :

or just copy it in your browser to sign a petiton to stop him to do it again, then type the name Guillermo Vargas Habacuc to find the petition to sign.

Please do it.

It's free of charge, there is no need to register, and it will only take 1 minute to save the life of an innocent creature. The petition partly uses spanish - dont let that put you off, basically 4 lines to complete - Name, then email addy, then put your location - say your county - then on the last line UK or whatever country you are in.

Distasteful as this might be, I don't think it is for this forum.

Don't forget that children are welcome to log on to here, with parents permission.

Please remove forthwith.

I'll sign it.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. If we don't know about it we can't do anything about it can we.? xx

Heather Report 13 Apr 2008 18:10

Peter, if the general consensus is that it should be removed, I will do so, but there are only words on here, nothing for any child to see. I see mention of a suicide and a death from a drugs overdose are already just above this posting - have you felt they should also be removed?

If we all turn our heads to the wall because we feel distaste ......................................

Whatever you do please DO NOT remove this thread. Things like this need to be brought to the public's attention.

Thousands of members of the public are here viewing these boards, and if just a small percentage of us sign the petition it might be worthwhile.

I am off to do just that now.

I don't object to this thread being here at all, but find it really sad that 2 million people have signed the petition when Gillian's petition about SADS only has just over 700 signatures.

Surely we should be trying to save the lives of humans as well as animals.

Many thanks people - I see someone has managed to have the link removed which is stupid as it was simply a link to a form - there were no photos or information on there to distress those of a sensitive nature. Im glad that most of you feel like me, that the many horrors of the world is condoned by those who feel unable to face and stop the perpetrators.

Im also grateful that GR has shown some common sense and not removed the whole posting, such a shame that the link has gone.

If you have problems because some sensitive soul has demanded the removal of the link ,please contact me - otherwise just google the "artists" name and petition and Im sure you will bring it up.

Once again I apologise if inadvertently you come across any of the photos I referrred to if you google this persons name. You would NOT have done so but for Peter having the innocent link removed. Well done Peter, you may now have people coming across the horrors I was trying to spare them.

Heather,I have heard of this,I thought it was a hoax to be honest.
If it is Indeed factual I am disgusted that this was allowed to happen.
Are you sure its factual?

I've closed the link now.on my pc.....but I googled it and got to the petition via a photography forum !! No graphic pictures to be had.......they were having a discussion too about it on their public forum......which I am sure is open to all age groups. xx

Heather

Heather Report 13 Apr 2008 18:27

Maggy, I agree with you - all these causes should be supported by those with the strength of character to support them and the fact is that this particular petition has gone world wide which is probably why so many have signed it so far.

Peter, you do as you feel fit - but living in a cotton wool cocoon doesnt make the world a safer place.

I do not wish to get into an argument with anybody on this site but I do have to say if children are allowed on here with parents permission then we should all be watching what we write down in threads.

I would be more worried about the innuendo's on here than the fact of an innocent animal being starved to death if I had children reading threads.
