Lou I am so glad that you agree with me.

I am often attacked (verbally) because of my age.. as being OLD FASHIONED.

But I was like this with all my children (4.. with age gaps 50-36) and was so pleased that I was not alone here.

This is a hoax I have explained on my thread

Tania, I havent seen your thread but from the information Ive been receiving:

I dont believe this bloke wanted to draw attention to starving dogs in the street, come on, if you check out his other "exhibits" you will see this is not a bloke motivated by conscience. The dog was just an addition to an exhibit about "Things are what you think" or some such nonsense.

Its a bit like saying Tracey Emin put her dirty bed clothes in an exhibition to draw attention to the lack of laundrettes.

There are varying reports - he says he fed it (have you seen the pics - this is a bag of bones), he said it escaped after just a day - the poor dog couldnt walk let alone escape from that place where he was tied up.

So does this artist now donate all his earnings to starving street dogs then? Did he not think to have that one receive some veterinary treatment rather than tie it by the neck on a cold hard floor?

Nope, I think we will find that this is some sort of spin to protect the bloke who apparently has had several death threats now.

Whatever the actual truth - and I cant believe someone could be so callous to have a dog in that condition tied up in a gallery anyway - it shouldnt be allowed.

Received death threats. That about sums this world up, lol

I bet he's had more death threats than Robert Mugabe.

Enough said?

Heather

Heather Report 14 Apr 2008 10:47

I should imagine Robert Mugabe would never hear of the death threats he is under Ian - because it serves the purpose of those who support him to keep him in power - once again, money rules the day.

Regardless, it sums up priorities and maybe, just maybe, this guy has a point.....?

Roxanne

Roxanne Report 14 Apr 2008 10:56

What point,Ian?

there is never an excuse fro any form of cruelty.

I replied to Tania's thread because I thought maybe,just maybe that could be the reason.
to bring to out attention the plight of these animals.
but you don't tie an animal up in an art gallery,even if at the end of the day you release it.
if he was so concerned perhaps he could of given it a home.
No,this man is a monster.
They come in all kinds!

Heather Report 14 Apr 2008 11:04

I think the point it does show Ian, is that too many people are too weak to stand up against evil of any sort. It is easier to believe something is untrue than have to stand up and be counted (throughout history - and quite recent history at that - we have seen this to be the case - Hitler relied on it, Stalin also and even closer to us we have people like Mugabe and before him, Amin)

Robert Mugabe is not a god, he could be toppled - so where are those with the guts to do the job? I take it you are already involved in a protest against him Ian?

:{{{0())~}        Ian         مْر

:{{{0())~} Ian مْر Report 14 Apr 2008 11:04

The point is clear to me -

No one gives a damn about the big picture in anything.

People will go off it for a single highlighted case of cruelty, but ignore the thousands of other cases that go unpublicised.

They will offer death threats to a human for commiting an act of 'cruelty' even though it is unproven - but decry the death penalty for murder......

That is the point of 'art' - it means different things to different people and is meant to be controversial.

Yes, no excuse for wanton cruelty........but this stunt has certainly got people heated up, hasn't it! It's succeeded in doing something, then.

I use Robert Mugabe as an example. Can't see the point is starting to castigate people for being gutless.

Heather

Heather Report 14 Apr 2008 11:09

But if we dont decry one act of cruelty does that not condone cruelty on a much larger scale? I think that is how people who do protest feel.

It is much easier to sit back, do nothing and pour scorn on those who do care. But that only encourages the tyrants of this world.

"One man's death is a tragedy, 6 million deaths are a statistic"

I think the classic was the american students who did the 'pay up or the rabbit gets it' stunt.

People feel their consciences can be salved by concentrating on a single issue, or at least that is the case in many cases :-)

Roxanne

Roxanne Report 14 Apr 2008 11:20

I don't concentrate on a single Issue.

If everyone sat back and thought"whats the point" would anything ever change??

:{{{0())~}        Ian         مْر

:{{{0())~} Ian مْر Report 14 Apr 2008 11:22

Probably not, but neither will it change by signing a petition against some bloke who has allegedly been cruel to one dog out of thousands..........which is his point in a way

Catherine from Manchester

Catherine from Manchester Report 14 Apr 2008 11:24

I can see what your saying Ian, but it still does not make it right-it's pretty horrific to prove a point (that's if it's true) a petition may not make a huge diffrence but people care and that's why they sign.

:{{{0())~}        Ian         مْر

:{{{0())~} Ian مْر Report 14 Apr 2008 11:25

no, doesnt make it right, I agree.

What is does is highlight the big picture though.

Heather

Heather Report 14 Apr 2008 11:48

I dont believe that was the guys intention - because there is too much that doesnt add up.

But the point is Ian, people are willing to stand up and be counted and thats the important thing here - holding up your hands and saying "nothing will change" is the attitude tyrants have always relied on.

Deanna Report 14 Apr 2008 12:27

So what exactly are you saying Ian?

Are you saying that if we see *one dog starving in an 'art gallery' we should do nothing, because there are so many dogs starving?*

We know very well the cruelty which is rife in this world.... but don't turn your back on one creature who needs your help.

If every one of us helped ONE CREATURE.. animal or human.... that is as much as each of us can do.
That is as much as can be expected of each of us.

I can't correct all the worlds ills, but I can HELP by recognising them and bringing them to the fore.
