Gary, Yes, I did copy and paste the reply to a request on records and did then add birthplaces afterwards when asked. However the copy and paste did answer the first query. If birthplaces for everyone on the image had been asked for in the first place, I would have added this in my first reply, but they weren't. I think Sylvia is right about you. Sorry. As for why other sites don't let you c & p, perhaps their employees don't understand the terms and conditions either. Kath. x

in am not winding anybody up, this is a real pet hate of mine, if you are going to the trouble of helping people why not do it properly, why take take the lazy way, or is it just to prove you can get the answer first, i just do not thing the pasted answers look very good, and as for other websites not nowing the terms properly, i dought this very much, why do Ancestry not allow you to do it on their own message boards?,

What I find amazing is the fact that Chris, who posted this thread origianlly and innocently hasn't been seen since! Poor bloke, no wonder he daren't come back to it! Perhaps it's time to call a halt on the thread, we all have different opinions...how about agreeing to disagree?

Gary, We'll have to agree to disagree. I personally think copy and pasted information is better in look-ups, because that way people get the same information as they would get if they did the look-up themselves, without the risk of typing errors which could make a great difference to the information given if typed out. We seem to have hijacked this thread, so I think it better that we just admit that we will never see eye to eye. Kath. x

Kath, the info would not be the same as if you looked yourself, because you would go on to view the image and take in all the info this supplied, off out now still think if i had paid a researcher for reams of pages pasted straight from Ancestry i would not be best pleased, amature site for amatures. Jess your welcome off down the pub and people will say a lot worse there

Yes it is 'food for thought' I would love to do this sort of stuff. I actually traced my Adopted HalfBrother found his address and phone number and everything, it is like a puzzle that you have to piece together bit by bit. My Local Authority Adoption Team have asked me for 'pointers'!!! Authorative figures asking me for help?!!! Stella X
