I am trying to confirm the birth of Lewis Lomas in 1837 in Kilrush Ireland. I would like to know if he was born there due to may be a forces hospital there or try to find out what he/his family were doing there at the time. |

In 1861 Lewis and his family were living in Hackney London - so this could mean that his father may have remained in County Clare whilst he moved to London. |

Hope you can find more info Eringobragh1916, you'd think that knowing the names of Lewis's parents would lead to a marriage.. no luck!! And I'm sure that William Powis's father was William........ no luck there with a marriage either.... so we're still minus a maiden name for the ladies at the mo. |

The further back you get the variations on the surname (as transcribed) can come up as Lomax/Lummax/Lumas etc... |

Maria...Samuel is buried in Kilrush C of I Graveyard Grace St......It is also the Place of the "Vandeleur Family" Vault (who Samuel leased his property from)..The graveyard is unfortunately in a dreadful state although the Church was "restored" a couple years ago it is not used as a church. |

When such records are found pre civil registration in Ireland (ie 1864 for births), please would you give the website where you found them? Many thanks :) |
