Trudy, in 1871 Charlotte and her husband Edward John Day were living with 3 month old Mary in Dartford. Says Charlotte and Mary born Dartford, and Edmund born Sutton at Hone, Kent.
Marriage record (but I think you have this?)
Name: Edward John Day
Year of Registration: 1870
Quarter of Registration: Apr-May-Jun
District: North Aylesford
County: Kent
Volume: 2a
Page: 615
Charlotte's maiden name Joyce or Cornford. Would be a good idea to order the cert.
There is an Edward Day on the IGI born 1849, but he is not your man, he married an Emily Honey in 1874.

You dont have to say thanks lol, Im happy to help. If no-one had helped me, I wouldnt be where I am now. I've had some wonderful help from the peeps on here.
If you order the cert, we can work backwards from there, also on Charlotte's side.

I have been told that we have Gypsy blood in our family, but I would have to check with my Nan for names, dates and places. I'm not sure if she knows much about her kin. But I do know my great grandfather was William Greaves born about 1890. I'm not 100% sure about the date and I can't give you a place. The family settled in Liverpool and the children all married into local families. William married Elizabeth Duckworth (b1894) died Apr/May/Jun of 1934 in childbirth in Walton Hospital.
William had a brother called Swale/Swail? Sorry that is all I can give you now, until I check with my Nan - but I think that she will just confirm this.
Many thanks Carolyn

I am just starting to do some preliminary research to help my sister in law with her family tree. From the posts I am seeing above, most posts on this particular threat seem to be from people researching Romany families in the UK. Has anyone done any research for Romany ancestors in the old Czech Republic?

Other than a language barrier (I don't speak or read Hungarian or any of the Slovak languages), is there anything else I should be aware of?

My sister in law's grandmother was born in the Czech Republic and is from a Romany family. Her grandmother used to "read cards" and have her grand daughter sit under the table and knock on it during the reading to scare the customers.

Thanks for any info!

Shannon
