Marriage Index Thomas Hardstaff/Sarah Hall, 19.1.1846 Hucknall Christening Index Born to a Thomas/Sarah Hardstaff and Christened at Hucknall Ann 16.2.1846 (Born 30.1.1846) William 16.4.1848 Ann 16.12.1852 Mary 27.8.1854 Frances 18.1.1864 All show the father as a FWK. If the two Anns are the same family I assume the first one died but I cannot find her on the Burial Index. There is no Atkin(s) in Hucknall in 1851. There is a Samuel Atkin in 1841 aged 60yrs who appears to be living alone so I assume he has passed on before the next census. Nb Hardstaff is a very common name in this area and most originate from Annesley 2 miles from Hucknall.. In the 17C the spelling is Hardstaffe. |

Robin you have filled so many holes in my research, unbelivable, william caudwell, born Culland Farm, Crich and James Caudwell, his Brother, born crich , would be culland farm as well, they went to teversall and farmed there and have got loads of off shoots from there, William was my Ggggrand father and raised kin at wolley moor derbyshire after teversall i think, could you check your 1861 census for teversall to see what Caudwell are there then as i think by 1861 they may have been at wolley moor, you will help to prove this for me thanks a million gary. |

I realise Claypole is in Lincs but I wondered if it was on the Notts census? Seeking any Mussons. Thanks! |

Hi Robin Only just picked up my e mails from yesterday we had a power cut till 8.25 this morning. So sorry I've only just replied. William & Mary Hardstaff have looked on the IGI and there a couple of possibilities. The same for William and Ann Hall. Dare I ask you to look on the 1851 Census to see if they are anywhere to be found. Do you know how far from Nottingham Town Centre Hucknall Tokard is? Is it easy to find on a Map? Any suggestions about why I can't find this illusive John Atkins? Just wished now My Dad had told me a bit more about Nottingham and his family before he died. Still trying to find info about his older sisters and brothers. Thanks again for your help Regards Cheryl |

Gary Woolley Moor 1861 is Derbyshire, Piece 2526 Folios 113/127 Stretton. I have checked the scans and there is no Caudwell. I do not have an index but the handwriting is very good and I have double checked. Teversal 1861 is Notts Piece 2424 Folios 68-76. This is Indexed and there are two references to Caudwell at Folios 71 and 72. Unfortunately these scans are all unreadable. I doubt if the originals are much better. From all the above I think you can take it that they may have been in Teversal 1861.Others are listed in the Mansfield Woodhouse area as well as the north and south of the County |

Geoff This one proved interesting! The Place Index does not show Claypole so I checked the PROCAT Reader and found the following villages in Lincs listed on Piece 2138, Notts. Syerston,Barkstone,Hougham,Dry Doddington,Stubton,Caythorpe/Freiston,Fulbeck,Maiden House,Fenton and Claypole.I think all these are in the Parish of Claypole. None of these are on the Place Index I then checked the name Index and no Mussons are listed for that Piece. However a visual check reveals At Claypole Folio 317 House 68 Thomas Streets, Head, Marr, 63yrs, Ag Lab, b Newark Notts William Musson, grandson,13yrs, Farm Day Boy, b Claypole Folio 328 House 140 John Musson, Head, Marr, 37, Ag Lab,b Bonnington Lincs Ann, Wife 30yrs, Joseph, son 11yrs, Farm Boy, Sarah Dau, 9yrs, Mary Dau, 7yrs,Elizabeth Dau,5yrs, Hannah Dau, 3yrs,Fanny Dau, 1yr. All b Claypole NB I have only checked Claypole Village. On checking other surnames I found that none of the Lincs names appear to have been indexed.Another lesson learned. |

Would be really grateful if you could look up JOHN HOWLEY, on the 1851. Possibly living Carlton in Lindrick/Worksop areas, although could be anywhere!! Aged around 40, and born in Ireland. Thank You. |
