Thanks Alvie, what a small world, as soon as I seen Beadnall I knew I had seen the name before. It's a small world. The following is Brown Souter's grandparents:

1851 census Easington Yorkshire

John Metcalf 70 pauper formerly in the alum manufacture Easington
Sarah Metcalf 74 wife pauper
Margaret Abraham 3 lodger Hinderwell –

Margaret is the illegitimate daughter of Helena Margaret Abraham who marries William Beadnell in June Q 1852. In 8151 Helena is a house servant in Brotton with a family called Pace, aged 23, unmarried. In 1861 Margaret is with her mother and stepfather (says daughter in law). Sarah’s mothers maiden name was Abraham.

1861 census High Street Marske

William Beadnall 33 farmer of 78 acres Brotton
Helena M Beadnall 32 Easington
Margaret S Abram 12 daughter in law (step child) Staithes
John T Beadnall 6 Broxton (Brotton?)
Jane E Beadnall5 Broxton (Brotton?)
George Beadnall 1 Marske
Sarah Beadnall 9 Niece Brompton

Thanks again

Marian .............

just a point of clarity ...............

you say that in the 1861 Census, Margaret Abraham "....... is with her mother and stepfather (says daughter in law). Sarah’s mothers maiden name was Abraham."

Back in time, daughter-in-law (or son-in-law) was used to refer to stepdaughter or stepson.
