Thanks Maddie, I hadn't noticed that child.
I have also discovered that Arthur's brother James Every Colocott and his wife Barbara also emigrated to Canada in 1911. I wonder if he has a war record also?
I know he survived as they visited England in 1920 after the War before returning to Canada where he died in 1922. It would also be interesting to know if they had any children but I can't see any. I am also struggling to find where Barbara died?

Thanks Maddie. That looks like it could be her death. It seems highly unlikely that there were any children
I have one more brother of Arthur and James Every Colocott (sons of James and Caroline Colocott) that I am struggling to locate. John Colocott born 1882 in Egremont Cheshire. I can see him in the 1891 census and then as a boarder in 1901 on the Wirral. He was working as a joiner. Then the trail goes cold....

I can see a John Colocott death in Australia in 1954. I can't view the document but it says his father was James and his mother Caroline Goodchild. The John that I am looking for is the son of James Colocott and Caroline Goodhall. Does anyone have any access to the actual document, or any more info about the Autralian John? I think its Melbourne

Not sure about this, Cornwall and Devon are close, but the two "L"s; I will need further credits to have a look, which I will do if you think it is connected.

Thanks Peahen, there are a lot of Collocotts with a double L in Devon and Cornwall. There must be overlaps and mis-spellings but I will concentrate on the correct spelling for now. I have had a fantastic response!
Sylvia - it could be someone completely unrelated. I can't find a James Colocott marrying a Caroline Goodchild though...

Clive ........
you have a James Colocott marrying a Caroline Goodhall, and having a child John.
the death certificate says Caroline Goodchild
It's close!!
Remember that the information on any death certificate is given by an informant, not the deceased, Much of the information is hearsay.
It is always possible that the informant gets much information wrong ..... mis-remembers, forgets, wasn't told the truth, the deceased changed his / her name, took off or added years to his age, etc etc
I figure that the only information on an English death certificate that you can trust to be accurate is the following .......
date and place of death cause of death name and address of informant name and address of doctor and / or coroner
Literally everything else is what the informant was told.
I think the same probably applies to death certificates in other countries, based on information that I have seen on Scottish and Australian records for families that I have been researching!
The only way to determine what has happened is to buy the death certificate, and hope that the informant was a member of the family whose name you recognise ........... the information might not be what you expect (eg, Goodchild instead of Goodhall), but at least it is a family member.
The problem comes if the informant is unknown to you .... eg, hospital, manager of care home, neighbour, etc etc

Chris - you are a genius! This article is 100% him. I now know he was definitely in Australia in 1931. I have a copy of the will from his Uncle John Edwin Colocott from 1930. My Grandfather was also a beneficiary
